  • This lawnmower feeds the lawn. In other words its a Mulching lawn mower. What is Mulching though? Explained here is how the Process of Mulching actually works
After mowing the lawn, a gardening technique called grass mulching, often referred to as grasscycling, includes leaving the grass clippings on the lawn rather than bagging and discarding them. The clippings are distributed around the grass after being finely cut by the mower, where they rot and turn into a natural mulch. Utilising a mower with a mulching blade or a mulching kit is necessary for grass mulching. Due to the distinctive pattern of these blades, the grass is sliced into tiny pieces, which facilitates easier breakdown.
Natural Source of Nutrients: Grass clippings are a great source of potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen, all of which are necessary for the proper growth of plants. The nutrients are recycled back into the soil when grass clippings are left on the lawn, acting as a natural fertiliser for the grass. Grass clippings serve as a protective covering over the soil, which aids in the retention of moisture. They prolong the duration of soil moisture by reducing water evaporation from the soil surface. As a result, there may be less need for supplementary watering during hot and dry spells.
Organic Matter and Soil Health: Grass clippings add organic matter to the soil as they break down. Organic matter strengthens the structure of the soil, improves drainage and water infiltration, and encourages beneficial microbial activity. Over time, it also contributes to a rise in soil fertility.
Time and labour savings come from the fact that grass clippings can be mulched rather than bagged and disposed of. Lawn care may be done more quickly and effectively since it makes the mowing process simpler.
Following a few rules will help you mulch grass clippings properly:
Regular mowing will ensure that the grass is short and the cuttings are suitable for mulching. More than one-third of the grass blade length should be removed at once to avoid clumping and uneven trimming distribution.
Dry grass: Cutting dry grass promotes greater clipping dispersion and breakdown. Grass clippings that are wet may group together, obstructing ventilation and delaying decomposition.
Setting the mower to the proper cutting height can help you prevent scalping your lawn. Scalping can put stress on the grass, increasing its susceptibility to weeds and disease.
Avoid building up too much thatch: Grass clippings contribute to a healthy thatch layer, but too much of it can be detrimental. To maintain ideal conditions, it is advised to routinely dethatch or aerate the grass if thatch builds up too much.
It's vital to remember that overgrown or too long grass may not be suited for mulching. In these situations, it's best to bag the clippings at first and then gradually switch to mulching as the grass gets easier to maintain.
Overall, mulching grass is a helpful and eco-friendly practise that promotes soil health, recycles nutrients, and reduces time and labour requirements for maintaining a lawn.

When I used a self-propelled push mower, I always mulched, only occasionally bagging for leaves and such. I don't have a bag for my tractor mower or mulching blades yet, so I go over each pass twice to cut the mowed grass finer so it disappears. The final passes are each done forward and backward, then moving to the next strip so the grass all blows out the same way and I make it all disappear that way. I don't like leaving cut grass spewed everywhere. I like the way mulching looks and I recreate that look this way. It takes more time and gas, but I get the look I want. I'd like to have a bagging system on the back for cleaning up Autumn's and Winter's leaves. Maybe one day. That whole attachment system is not cheap! Thanks, Mr. Craig.

    Is mulching same as recycling?
