So let's sort this out once and for all:
🍟fries in your shawarma or not?
🧄HEAPS of garlic sauce or go easy?
    Where do YOU stand?

It is indeed! That's why you can have one dish played out in so many different ways within a short radius here in Dubai. Thank you for watching!

I grew up in Dubai too, and I’m definitely on the Khubz Lebnani team! Sajj bread is everywhere now, but I still go out of my way to find old-school shawarmas wrapped in classic Khubz Lebnani. Loving this video-super informative, candid, and unbiased. Keep it real!
And yes, I’m a convert and love fries in my shawerma (but only for the chicken ones)

Yay! Love hearing from OG Dubai kids. I do love me a crispy saj, but there's something so nostalgic and chewy and soft about that the Lebnani bread...where do you usually go for your fix?

@ oh I had a few local spots which unfortunately closed down. So for now it’s Jabal Al Noor, Mallah and surprisingly Eat and Drink😂 some of them do a decent shawarma for only 5dhs..can’t complain👍🏼

Mid way through your video. Loved it as usual! Time flies watching you. I’ve saved the 1st place on my map as a must go.
The lamb is lamby and the bread is too bready! That was hilarious! I do like my shawarma to be soft and moist. But ya these guys overdo the garlic so much that with one shawarma you smell of garlic all day.
I don’t like my shawarma too tangy and I like rich foods so don’t mind the fries at all.
Thanks Arva. Such a pleasure to watch your insightful videos ❤️

Lol yes now when you write it out I realize how funny that must have sounded😂 Let me know what you think when you visit Mashawi. They checked all my boxes, especially the acid one; the right amount of lemon can make a world of difference. But maybe too tangy for you? Let’s see what you think! And thanks for watching! 🤍

Loved this! What a great way to spend the day - eating your way through all kinds of shawarma.
I feel like in Sharjah we defo put fries in our shawarmas. So I’ve always liked that lil extra hit of carbs in my sandwich.
I used to have a reliable spot by my house I always hit up but now I’m on the hunt for a new “ol reliable”. This video helps haha

I think the fries has become pretty ubiquitous and I know there are a LOT more people in the fries camp than in mine 😂Thanks for watching, hope you find your new fave spot soon -- Mashawi is definitely one to hit up first in that case!

YES! 1 more person in my no fries camp, which brings us to a grand total of TWO! 🙌🏽 I’d much rather do crispy fries on the side, nothing wrong with that. But not soggy ones in the sandwich where my chicken/beef/lamb was meant to be.

You read my mind! I'm stepping out this week to do just that. It might be a while before it shows up on the channel, but I promise it's in the works. That said, one video won't be enough. Do you have ideas for what foods and places have to make it to the channel? Halo halo and enseymada is a MUST.

    • @ditchthesilver
      @ditchthesilver  8 днів тому

@@Bizmyurt that's right, I've read that too - the word 'kebab' definitely has roots in the Arab world, and ultimately in the ancient Akkadian language.
One of my favorite cookbook author references is Iraqi food historian, Nawal Nasrallah, and she says that the Arabic word kebab might be some combination of two medieval Arabic words, kebab (skewered and grilled pieces of meat) and kubaab (meatballs), each of which are respectively derived from Akkadian words: (1) kebab from 'kababu' which means to burn fire/wood in order to grill (2) kubaab from 'kubbusu' which means to form like a turban (=meatballs).
