This drama had a few of the most heartracing scenes i've ever watched, but it has mainly to do with the king. He's not the one being captivated, WE are captivated by him. This actor's portrayal of a king along with Lee Junho's in The Red Sleeve is the best i've ever seen in a kdrama...it will be hard, very hard to top them.
@@moodygirl609 I tried several times to watch My Dearest, but i couldn't go through with it. Although i hear great things about it, it somehow doesn't appeal to me.
Yeah true both of those drama have the best kings and the writing is very good for the king the others are not as profound and emotional showing the struggle of being a king
Concordo com você! O melhor ator que vi até hoje! Ele é sensacional! E a roteirista que escreveu a história é talentosíssima! Parabéns...lindo Dorama... maravilhoso!
I was stunned with the Incredible and believable performances cho jung seok is a very talented actor. This was a complete deviation from his role on hospital playlist which I thoroughly enjoyed. He gave a very emotionally powerful performance, believable as a king fighting to save his nation, fierce, intelligent and strategic. I have seen other performances where the king is ruled and controlled by the court or relatives, they have always come across as weak or corrupt. This storyline was well written and well acted throughout. Today people always want a happy ending because life does not often work out that way. What I appreciated about this story was the incredible conflict the main character endured, surrounded on all sides were betrayers, the king had to choose his nation over what he wanted. He finds the love of his life but he is not able to have an openly romantic relationship, he is not free to choose his own path. So he is very conflicted with what he wants to do and what he has to do.
I love the storyline, for me it was simply romantic yet there were no obscene or overly done scenes. Heesoo was my feminine model...simply adorable❤Hoping for part 2...I watched it three times and my favorite episode was 8 and 16! Thank you, Carmen
After promising to come back to him, she comes back unannounced after 9 months and then just decides to up and leave and continue her wandering life?? That’s how much she loves him?? He definitely loves her more than her affection for him. Maybe she was trying to escape her being captivated by him.
Im not happy for the ending,, l want more,,, or if they have another part 2 season that they going to get married happily ever after,,plssssssss,, just like princess lingyang,,after her husband the king r died she got the crown f fast to her son ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Totally agree. I wanna see a wedding, see her father come back, see how some of the people react after they find out her true idenity. The ending was ugh.
Notice how she just submitted to the kissing without responding in the very last scene. Her whole attitude during the series was to just give a blank noncommittal stare at almost every crucial point. That blank stare got very tiresome after a few episodes. She was so much better in Rookie Historian. The male actor is amazing and very multi talented.
The best Korean drama I've seen thus far. I'm pleased I'm not alone in believing this program might have a terrible finish. I'm glad that's not the case. They will undoubtedly marry because he stated in the previous episode that he would marry her if she were a woman and that he was committed to spend the rest of his life with her regardless of what happened in the future. There is a reason why he spent 9 months alone, despite her suggestion that he pick someone to be his next queen. He knew she would comeback after promising to play baduk again so he could win and learn her actual name. I loved that he simply decided to wait for her and now that she came back he is determined to be with her for rest of his life. I just wish we could see them getting married, hee soon becomes queen and then still have children in future while making sure crown prince would be next king. That would be for me the perfect ending.
To echo can we please see a season 2 as it ended with no rhyme or reason,It was a top drama that flashed so quickly. SHIN SE KLUNG is my top kirean actress, but can anyone correct me,the king was he the guy from She can see smells drama.that was a very good drama as well.Mind you Shin Se are all so good.My favourite Rookie Historian.Prince Rim and crown prince so cute.😊
The ML actor form She Can See Smells was Park Yuchun, formerly of the original 5 TVXQ/DBSK and later JYJ fame. Yes, he, Shin Se Kung, and that drama were very good, IMO. This drama's ML actor is Cho Jung Suk. He's also a very good all-around entertainer. He sings, dances, can do comedy and melodrama equally as well. Some of his other dramas you might want to check out are: Oh My Ghost, Hospital Playlist, and another with IU (I can't remember that drama's full name right now). He's really outstanding!
Not so happy how it ended. I guess we were all looking forward to a big wedding scene..but it ended how it started by them happily playing baduk. That was a lame kiss at the end btw....enjoyed seeing her all dressed up. In the end she still cant reveal her identity. He did tell his mother he dont want a wife plus he already had his adopted son😢
The king didn't say that he didnt want wife to his mother but he just said that he won't make mongwoo (kang hee soo) AS his Concubine. I think that mean that he just want mongwoo as his queen
exactly a big romantic wedding with a wedding night as ending! we were cheated here. since he decided not to make concubine! why did the director allow the script to end this way? it was a poor ending. after waiting for the big finale for a week it really feels like a rip-off!
I guess the director wanted it to end with a game of Baduk since that is what brought them together in the first place. But I do agree that the last kiss between them needed a little more passion from Hee Soo.
The ML was outstanding even if hs not talking you can tell what he is thinking I wants a better ending. I thought the king would abdicate and they would get married.
Very true...is there a season 2??? I love this drama...Jo Jung Suk is a great actor so as Shin Se Kyung. Anyway this is my first time watching their drama.
My hope and assumption is that they will have the wedding ceremony at the end of the drama...It's a bit disappointing to me. It's possible that Gummy (the actor's real wife) will not permit her husband to hold a wedding ceremony even though it's just a drama. Balas
I don’t think that was the case. Just poor writing and directing for the finale. I would have preferred for them to fake Kang Mong Woo’s death and announced it to the palace court. And announced that Kang Hee Soo had been found and that she was to become the new queen. I didn’t need a whole wedding scene, just a wedding night scene with him helping her remove all that heavy head gear that the queen wears and him laying her gently down like in episode 9 and saying that line that he said in the ending “ you will never be separated from me again.” and a big passionate kiss.
@@ruthsabac-schmidt2178 But the lack of chemistry makes it unbelievably bad. The male was very passionate while the female was cold and her very rare moments of emotion seemed forced.
Hate the ending… But then again it’s Netflix right? They need to need the option of a second season open. The reason I began watching Korean or Chinese Dramas is that they end! You don’t have to wait a year (forgetting meanwhile what you saw) for next season!
So I feel likeam in the minority there when I actually loved the first 8 episodes then felt it went downhill really quickly. I was utterly, completely captivated, and OMG the end of episode 8 had me forgetting to breath it was so beautifully done. However after that I felt that a lot of the ends were only rather clumsily tied and that the passion and yearning of their previous relationship totally faded. There were moments in the later episodes where his strength to fight was fading, it was so raw and visible, yet she totally misses the make, and is very passive, which given her previous strength as a character was interesting. Also for me, the ending was supremely unsatisfying. Even an explaination doesn't make it any better for me, and for those asking for a second season, that is not really realistic, as most korean dramas even the most sucessful ones are only one season, and though they have tried out the multiformat, it is not really taking off, as most of the second seasons don't get high viewership. I wanted this to end better. I was praying it would, but sadly for me, this was another korean drama to end underwhelmingly. However this is only my person impression and not a general rule at all.
No me gustó. No hubo romance. No hubo química. 😊

Both Kdramas featured great main lead actors with staunch characters, but we must not forget the tragic feast of My Dearest.

Please we need season 2. Their love story was short lived.🎉❤
I am going to miss this drama. More please....a royal wedding for example ❤
I wish there will be a season 2! I want to see more
oh no! i want a big royal wedding scene😮
2nd season pls.
Never gonna happen
I'm watching for the 5th time. They need a part 2.❤

I think he was telling his mom he doesn’t want a concubine. Hee-Soo is a noble lady and can’t be a concubine. So she should refuse that.
