Been round Le Mans in my replica d type late eighties . This great film brings back memories of going to school through merchy mews and seeing those great cars and drivers.
Brilliant Richard, well done it is so nice to see how you as one relatively young “get it” and the importance of recording it. Next let’s explore BRM. Thanks to all who made this wonderful film possible
RSF 303 was driven by Ninian Sanderson in the 1957 race, finishing 2nd. He carried a little Teddy Bear as a mascot. I was lent this Teddy Bear to take in my 1954 Daimler on the Monte Carlo Historique in 2020
@@cavebearfilms4125 main comparison I can come up with is its akin to watching the old WW2 veteran airmen talk in interviews and reunited with the planes they flew and taken up for a spin! They always bring a tear to the eye.
Oh, and I had the pleasure of seeing those stunning Ecurie Ecosse cars and that beautiful transporter when they came to Shelsley Walsh back in 2011... a special place thats pretty good at evoking the past and nostalgia attached with its long history on top, its good to keep these alive.
@@Jonny_Red Glad you connected with it in that way! The Spitfire of the Road... they have quite a presence and just by being near one you can just feel the history. Though I must say, not the most comfortable of cars to ride in 🤣
@@cavebearfilms4125 Spitfire of the road..yes I like that analogy...although I would say that the ERA's have that similar presence too! Probably a good thing that theyre not overly comfy, no falling asleep at the wheel!
Wonderful ! I really enjoyed the footage and Hugh's authentic commentary. Thank you for making it available to us. I used to lap chart the top 20/25 cars at Le Mans, from the public grandstands, in the 1980s and 90s. It can be exhausting because, as Hugh says, you have to concentrate the whole time not to miss a car. When it got dark I had to give up, but by then I had followed about 7 hours of racing in great detail and knew as much/more than the official commentators. The only downside: you cant eat, drink, talk or go for a pee! But a great way to immerse yourself in the race.
Thanks for taking the time to watch James! Your experiences from Le Mans sound very immersive. Much more exciting to know exactly how the field is shaping up. I'm glad you enjoyed the archive footage, it certainly is special!
Interesting, but as is far too common, ruined by the "music" dubbed into the soundtrack so that the voice could hardly be heard. Try making it again without the ridiculous noise
A great wee film with superb archive footage. Just with I had been there to see it all.

A very nostalgic film showing one of our true classis cars driven by racing legends.

Fantastic. Well done to everyone who put this together, brought back great memories of my own first trip to Le Mans.
Wow, just brilliant!

A beautiful film made of wonderful beautiful memories...pretty emotional scenes at the end seeing him reunited with them after so long.
Thanks Jonny 👍 I must admit, no matter how many times I've watched it while editing. Hugh's voice always gets me 😢

Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it's not to everyone's taste. However, we like it as it is and certainly won't be making it again 👍
