    Thank you for these videos! This is really helping me draw a clear path to how I want to achieve this dream. I do have some questions, though:
    1) How does the job search look with no experience, no degree, and fresh out of a TEFL Certification Course?
    2) In Canada, there is a Mature Student's status in our universities, which gives the chance for an applicant above the age of 19 to apply to their desired university if they have related experience in that field. I'm sure teaching English abroad serves as related experience to apply for a BA in English in any university, but is that experience valuable enough be able to work in countries that require a degree? Will I need to continue my education to do so?

    • @ESLTeacher365
      @ESLTeacher365  Рік тому +3

      1 - you will have to search for jobs in countries that don’t require a degree. Latin America is the best region for this. I also recommend teaching online before you teach abroad to get some experience. 2 - countries that require a degree do so because of the visa. Even if you have experience teaching, you won’t be able to access these jobs without a degree so you’ll need to get qualified first.
      I hope this helps!

    • @ESLTeacher365

      The degree requirement is usually linked to visa requirements. For example in South Korea you’ll need a bachelor’s degree (unless you are doing the TaLK program which has different requirements.) I would make sure to get an accredited TEFL cert like Premier TEFL or ITA if you’d like to teach without a degree.

    • @ESLTeacher365

      You will have to check each country individually and understand that the requirements are constantly changing. Normally before teaching abroad you will need certain immunisations before you can live in another country. There are often medical exams you need to pass for visa purposes.

    Hi Jamie, I'm also American-Australian! (Born in Australia but I have lived worked and studied in the US since a young age). A few questions - I have a TEFL certificate, a bachelors (and masters), but am having trouble finding a job. The main reason for this is MOST of the companies that offer certificates (TEFL etc.) offer job resources but the price of there certificates are quite high (to cover the cost of the job placement). Additionally, there are companies that you can pay to work or volunteer abroad but I don't necessarily believe in this approach. I was offered a job in Mexico at a private school that I unfortunately had to decline but otherwise its very hard finding a job on your own without paying a placement agency. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks again. BTW also following you on IG.

      A degree is preferred. Italy is very challenging unless you have EU citizenship. If you want to teach in Italy as a non-EU citizen your only real option is getting a student visa and teaching in language academies part-time put to 20 hours per week. Spain is much easier to teach in with a degree because you can qualify for language assistant programs. Without a degree, it’s similar to Italy - you need a student visa and can teach in academies with a TEFL - but up to 30 hours per week.

    The pay is so terrible. How can someone save making only $800/month? S Korea seems to be the best pay, but requires a degree, too bad.

      This is still double the minimum wages in these countries.Not bad for 30hr work week.

      @@alwayslearning7672 It is bad. The people coming to these countries to teach don't care what is good for that country, they aren't retiring there. If they leave a country with a median salary of 60k/year how is 9,600/year a smart move? Like I said, you'd have to be desperate.
