    Having been to Rome, Munich, Athens, Paris, Kyiv, Riga, I have to say Tallinn is my favourite European city so far!

    Tallinn is indeed a very underrated city in Europe. We made a trip there about 2 years ago, an awesome place with super friendly people. It's a very easy town to walk around and we didn't feel the need to use the local taxis or buses too much. Kumu museum is a very nice place, very quiet as well. The Estonian Maritime Museum is also a great place to visit, especially if you have young children with the main attraction being the submarine they can walk under and then go inside. We did the reverse of you though, Tallinn first then Helsinki by ferry. Helsinki is quite a place, the architecture is very grand. But bring your wallet with you as it's not as cheap as Tallinn. Cheers!

    I love Tallinn. One of my favorite ports while working onboard a cruise line. Haven't been back in 2 years but love the old town. Love having coffee and sitting in the town square and watching the people...especially on my few hours off. New to your channel and have subscribed to follow you. I have a new channel also that talks about travel also...although not much going on right now. But I'm loving learning all about how youtube works and meeting lots of new friends.

    Loved this video, thank you. Tallinn is the first stop on my next trip planned for later this year, so I’m thrilled to see you had stunning weather, as I hopefully will be there at the same time of year as you guys were!! Looks as though COVID was not having too much impact then. Let’s hope 2022 brings an end to all the dramas the world is having to contend with because of it, so we can all get back to enjoying our travelling and exploring incredible places like this! Cheers,
    Marg

    Lovely place I visited a couple of years ago. Biggest isn't necessarily the most beautiful. What surprised me was all the new stunning architecture. Really fresh and attractive. I can't believe what they accomplished in only 30 years. Another 30 years and wow.

    I like how Americans calling something “a hidden gem” “underrated” just because this capital city doesn’t come on the 1st page of google or smth. I didn’t feel Tallinn underrated. Maybe if you compare to Prague. But does Tallinns wanted this crowds? I’m not sure.

    A lot of restaurants in the Old Town are focused only on luring in tourists and the quality of the food can be really underwhelming for the price. Von Krahl is a place locals actually visit as well so it's good to see that you went there. Von Krahl is also a theatre just next door, by the way, known locally for it's contemporary plays.

    Nice video! What month did you visit?
    I do agree with some of the other comments though...the destination should be the focus of the video, not the tourists. Focussing on yourselves as the center of the presentation detracts from the value for the viewer who wants to learn about the place and not your faces. :)

    Sad that you had the Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the thumbnail. It is a symbol of Russification and the traditionally Lutheran Estonians generally dislike the church. And it doesn't really fit well in the otherwise Medieval old town.

    • @KeepGoingPlaces
      @KeepGoingPlaces  4 роки тому +5

      Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. We understand how that cathedral isn't the best choice to include on the thumbnail of an Estonian travel guide video. We updated the thumbnail, which may take a few hours to take effect due to UA-cam's lag time. Thanks again, and we hope you enjoyed the video!

      Yes, it was built during another Russian occupation before Estonia's first national independence, and it does not fit in the picture at all. Sadly it was built to a very exposed location - as a symbol (negative to Estonians).

      Funnily enough, the Kadriorg palace and park were build by Peter the Great for his wife Catherine, and is very beloved by Estonians and everyone else.

      @@maksphoto78 Get your facts straight mate. Peter I bougt a small manor there in 1710, one of the small houses is still intact and turned into museum. The larger structures and gardens around it were completwd 117 years later (1827) by order of Nicholas I, because Peter I died while palace was built and Cathrene lost interest in it.
      PS! Not sure where younget this "everyone loves Kadriorg palace" thing since previous president didn't reside in the complex but chose to live at home, Härma Talu and nobody really gives a flying one about that heap of rock. But the place is literally nothing of interest if one has visited Schönbrunn, Versailles, Mysore, Topkapi, Buckingham etc.
      And Nevsky cathredal is still a monument of coloneal opression.

    In my opinion it’s time to let Estonia be a nice small Nordic country. Estonia very deserves to be a Nordic country, because Estonia has done a lot of work, we have many smart people, we are good at digital things, we have northern lights and we are very similar to Finland and other Nordic countries like: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Greenland. We are not similar to Latvia and Lithuania and the other Eastern Europe countries. It’s time to stop calling Estonia Eastern Europe country and Baltic country and forget all this terrible, rude and mean Soviet times. Let’s just stop this Eastern Europe and Soviet stigma thing and let Estonia turn the new page and let them be a normal small Nordic country next to Sweden and Finland!!! Estonians call themselves the Nordic country and many other people and tourists had also said that Estonia should be a Nordic country, because Estonian people are Finnic people not Balts and we are more similar to Scandinavia. Yes many people had agreed with that Estonia must belong to the Nordic group and seperate from Latvia and Lithuania. They don’t even need these countries, because Estonians communicate more with Finns and other Scandinavian countries. Estonia will be a very good partner for the other Nordic countries. We will do a very great work and we will be very strong!!! ☺️🙏
