  • Now that we know how different abrasives work to grind your glass let’s look specifically at electroplated and resin diamond disks and how best to use them to cold work your glass from a rough grind through a pre-polish finish. Mark will discuss the best methods to maximize the utility of your diamond disks to achieve the best surface on your glass as quickly as possible. We’ll also discuss the best routines for your diamond disk progression and how to judge which disks you’ll need for your particular process.

    Another excellent video, thanks Mark. I’ll definitely be steering my glass students to HisGlass as a fantastic glass resource. The videos are full of wise tips and tricks, hard to find such advise outside the studio. Hopefully this will lead to more informed and interesting coldworking in the future.     Hi Mark ! thank you for this great video ! Let me ask you a question: Is it okay to clean the disc with a toothbrush, while the disc is working, to clean it ?

      Yes, any soft bristled brush will work to clean excess ground glass off the wheel.

      @@hisglassworksinc : I work with Absolut, Belvedere and Grey Goose vodka bottles

      @@rubermejo I would recommend, at minimum, the 12-inch Covington: www.hisglassworks.com/machinery/flat-grinders/small-grinders/covington-variable-speed-12-inch-flat-lap-grinder.html Those bottles are a little thicker so the larger grinder is a better choice.
