i really enjoy watching your content as always, this REX flight review to CBR was spot on. Cant wait to fly with them again next month to MEL. Keep up the great work :)
Danielle the FA did sound like she loves her job, the warm welcome (and mind your head) and sincere goodbye impress me!! The snack service gets a huge thumbs up also. I think the seats looked grey colour but that might just be my screen. No complaints REX are rocking it👍
What I would like to see is REX fly AVV to CBR, this is a missed market and with the amount of federal gov employees traveling between Vic and the ACT it could actually create some competition and I think the SAABs would be a good size for the flight.
The light grey seats are usually in ex Mesaba aircraft that were formerly registered N4**XJ (VH-ZXG, ZPB, ZPC, ZPA, ZXF, ZXK, ZXU but not VH-ZXQ), the grey seats can be reclined. Some ex American Eagle aircraft have the new interior grey with orange but the majority of the fleet are blue seats and cannot be reclined.
I've done this flight 5 or 6 times already. It's brilliant, always on-time and can access the Canberra lounge for free. I'm doing the MEL-CBR flight on the 10th too!
Im confused, you said the taking a flight saves about 1 hour? Ive taken Murray's coach from Sydney to Canberra a few times and I recall the drive being about three hours? Nonetheless, I found your channel whilst looking for Indian Pacific reviews, I subbed straight away even though I dont watch these kinds of videos a lot. But I love your style and demeanour, and I love the mix of review as well as factual information.
Murrays 3.5hrs Leave Canberra joliment 4pm, arrive Central 7:30pm Rex Leave Canberra joliment 4pm, arrive Canberra Airport 4:25pm, flight at 5:00pm, arrive Sydney airport 6:00pm, arrive central 6:30pm So it’s approximately one hour.
I was a Flight Attendant for a Delta Airlines Connection Carrier Business Express Airlines (1994) they operated the Saab 340 they merged into American Eagle (Envoy Airlines) some of Business Express’s Saab 330 went to REX The lavatory on the Business Express Saab’s was in the back of the plane
It is the difference between models. Either the B which is the older model where the lavatory is at the back or the B-WT (extended wing tanks) in which the lavatory is situated up the front.
I went from cairns to Sydney and back and I live in Sydney they didn’t offer any food and it was 3 hours yet ur flight 40 mins u got offered food and drinks
its also a way safer aircraft too run by a much better airline. I don't care what it costs, what's the point if you don't make it to your destination in one piece..
REX should really do Sydney to Adelaide and Gold Coast to Adelaide because people are flying there via Melbourne and Sydney just to be able to fly REX to those destinations. Canberra to Gold Coast and Adelaide too would be ok but that route may not happen for a while.
I’m happy with Mel cbr, all these routes they’ve expanded to used to be flown by tiger so they pretty much just picking up the market share left by tiger. Virgin is flying Syd Adl direct for $90 the price is already quite competitive When tiger did Syd Adl it only had one flight per day, and tiger dropped it just before the pandemic hit, so I don’t think tiger found the route profitable for them
@@RoryDing Wow that's actually a good price. I think that REX should maybe try and get some more 737s and try and link every eastern capital city together. The routes they have now are good but I think REX could go that step further and do it. I actually think personally REX should fly to New Zealand with 787s but that's a whole new thing that would have to happen and the air crafts would have to be ordered and that would take ages and REX is a country airline so I doubt they would leave Australia unless they really needed to to boost the airline. Sorry for the long comment
I don't understand flying that route, it's quicker to drive one you factor in getting to the airport, waiting for the flight and then getting to the city at the other end. Happy to race you one day.
Usually it’s a lot cheaper to fly say from Adelaide to Sydney than fly to Canberra This flight offers a cheap connection. And sure I don’t mind racing we both depart Canberra city at the same time and I’ll wait for you at Sydney central 🤪
@@RoryDing Its an incredibly uncompetitive route but its so close that for most people, driving is a much better option. I can get from my home in North West Sydney to Parlament house in about 2 hours and 45 minutes
@@ma77mc when I lived in SW Sydney , I could do it in a little less time. Where I live now, it is much shorter to drive, as to fly there I'd need to get to Sydney first. It's actually only 6 minutes longer for me to drive to CBR than it is to YSSY.
It may not make sense but qantas flights are always fully booked I flew on a b717 from Canberra to Sydney then onward to Adelaide on Friday 11:05am the 717 was full, not a single seat was empty. Qantas now also uses the larger 737 on Sydney to Canberra route in the evenings
@@RoryDing the numbers don't lie. I presume it's a commuter service more than anything then. Maybe people visiting the Sydney and Canberra offices or their company, or APS department.
Try flying Rex Sydney to Moruya. Moruya is 300km south of Sydney but it is a 4 hour fight. You can drive form Sydney to Moruya and still get there before the Rex air service. It a Joke.
Rex has cut that route already. I must be hard to compete with Qantas as much of the business is for government workers who love their status points and lounges.
I hate Rex, their Saab turboprops are absolute junk, the prop literally flew off one of them! It was just pure luck it didn't strike the aircraft when it did and they managed to land safely. I know someone who worked ground staff for them and said they cut costs/corners everywhere. I'm glad Qantas is servicing routes that previously only rex did!!! I'd rather fly qantaslink any day of the week!!!
13:15 I made this video on Monday, the day before Rex announced its plan to launch Melbourne - Canberra flights 😆
Was about to point that out 😂
I kind of knew that you may not say anything but yeah. I didn't know about and Indian Pacific review?
hope you are booked on the inaugural CBR-MEL flight Rory!
Rex rescheduled the MEL CBR inaugural flight to 1:30pm so I’m gonna do it!! 😬
@@RoryDing Oh yay! Very exciting. Sadly I can't join you as I have to be in Canberra to 5:30PM
Most underrated flight vlogger😑
Thank you!!
Thank you for treating us on this virtual tour. The way you shoot & edit the videos are surreal. #safetravels.
Thank you ☺️☺️☺️

Love your trips and your comments. Please dont stop !
Its great that REX is flying this route. I've been looking for a review on this and you've done just that. Great video!
Haha
It definitely made flying to Sydney a lot more affordable
Considering Murray’s is now $41 or $65 if you want an empty seat next to you
you can now also fly Sydney - Melbourne - Canberra for $101!!!!
@@RoryDing That's great!
Such a lovely young man
I wish you massive success on UA-cam & in your life

Rex Cabin Crew are definitely the best most capable crew overall in the world. They do everything on their own. Good on you guys 🤟🤙😁

Hi Rory enjoyed video thank you
Great review and flight i enjoyed IT
If you get to Tasmania try out the train form Queenstown to Strathan. It is the only train trip I could recommend in Australia.
Love your videos!
Thanks!
Probably gonna take this one to Sydney next month. Thanks for the review!
Virgin Australia just announced they will be flying direct from Townsville to Sydney and Melbourne too
And cairns to Perth
Darwin Sydney
Adelaide cairns
😁
@@RoryDing even better 😍
Yep more competition 😬
@@RoryDing yes and it’s what Townsville needs to get lower airfares too 😊
At least Townsville has Jetstar

Surprisingly to see casual pay to use lounge is an option, I went there last week, the stuff told me I could only pay the annual plan
Nah you can pay $33 it’s on their website
They only charged me $22 on that day for some reason not sure why
