If you cancel his amplified smoke port he turns invisible, which I think is the more effective way of getting into it. The smoke bomb is so slow, but the smoke port cancel forces them to figure out what to do.
@@zowilliamsiii8148I know this was a while ago, but you press DB4, then F to cancel. Note that if you do it from the air you still have to press the opposite direction, but you'll come out on the other side, and you *won't* turn invisible. You can only go invisible from the ground.
Too bad Smoke can't do anything useful (other than invisibility, I guess that could pass as 'useful' in this game) from the smokeport cancels. And the arbitrary requirement to press block whilst holding back to use vapor cancel (no other cancels in this game require such an input, as far as I know) effectively renders it useless since the input buffer timing window is unrealistically narrow and so laughably inconsistent, you often get the EX version of vapor instead of the cancel; or, more likely, the BF3 input is simply ignored altogether in favor of leaving you just standing there, blocking. Makes me wonder if there was any play-testing done at all outside of the beta.
I decided to main Smoke and you are correct. I get destroyed by people that can block all his combos. He's very easy to read to good players. If you're not good at the VV cancels then good luck against those guys.
@@NooDLES411911yeah I got a big reality check when my brother finally learnt how to block my setups. Now I’m back in the lab tryna learn how to switch it up and master the Vapor cancels lol
@@mylord4916same thing happened with a friend of mine, I learned to use Kano and use his ball and knife to protect me when I go for unsafe moves and I keep pressure with forward 4 and down 3s and 2s
Tip for the double 3,2 combo route: the timing for F1,2,1+3 is much easier if you wait for the opponent to drop more before hitting the second 3,2. It'll look like you've boned the combo but after you just gotta immediately hit F1,2,1+3 after and it's free
Smoke can look like a god in the right hands. The vicious vapors cancels certainly take a lot of practice but once you can master that the character really opens up to you. Shame most people don’t respect the cancels and just poke you out but once you face better players they’re a lot scarier
I’ve been too busy this week to play any. I’ve been having a lot of fun with Reptile but I’m gonna start learning a few others. First on the list is Smoke. I really didn’t like his design but when I saw that you can get his hooded skin I was pulled back towards him. I’m also gonna try out Shao and Johnny Cage. One of those 4 are going to be my main.
I like to use Frost with Smoke personally, his F1 2 1+3 will always confirm into her freeze, and you can do some cheeky frost ball setups as well, like b2 3 4, which will launch into it.
This is like mk9 kabal system, hard to hit confirm, dash cancels, gaps, but if you do it good, the result is overkill (maybe not OP af ok). Also you can evade projectiles with the dash and almost tp to the oponent right in his face. Smoke is an easy character to learn, but dificult to master. Smoke is good but in the right hands.
for the vicious vapors cancel from B2 or F32, i like to press BF3 as soon as i finish the previous inputs. at any time smoke is travelling, or a puff of smoke from VV, you can hit the cancel. so as long as you arent mashing, you can easily relax and just think about the cancel alone and not try to mash VV and the cancel all at the same time after opening up your opponent.
When I do a teleport combo off of F1-2-1+3 I start with 2-1-1 in the air, 2nd juggle is 2-1, then 3rd finisher is 1-2-2. Always gotta EX the DB4 though to get enough height.
Hello, well I changed my mind on what I want to learned and spent all day on Smoke. Now I am sure I will get it down (I hope), at least now I know how he is beating me all the time in kombat league. Any Smoke mains? OK, so, for example I am trying to do the following string: A) F12 EX DB4 34 (or DB21?) EX DB4 21 DB4 Up + Kameo button (Scorpion) DB2 here, I don't understand what's happening because I go F12 EX DB4 21/34 and then when I do the second EX DB4 Smoke goes right underneath the falling opponent most of the time, I see the first and second meters are burned so they are EX (I set it to Refill in Practice) but this happens, or more rarely, Smoke hits, but hits late as I see the kombo is dropped and it starts again with 77% on the second launcher.... B) 32 Dash 32 (F12-1+3) EX DB4 21 EX DB4 Up + Kameo button DB2 now here I have trouble understating and inputting what I put in parenthesis, like, what do the numbers mean when they are linked: F12, what does the - (minus mean) from F12-1 and then what does the + mean from +3 ? and for the rest of the string I have the problem from A)
@@difficult_aardvarkso if you know it’s coming it’s useless if you just duck. It can be predictable asf especially towards the end of the round after they finish a combo
Yeah but his basics have gaps and are not really fast otherwise his damage and combos are amazing and he has everything you need but he reminds me of Kabal in MK11cuz they're both execution heavy.. Somehow Smoke feels a bit easier to me than Kabal in MK11..
If you want to make most of Smoke, you will have to put in that work. Good luck to all the new and returning Smoke mains!
Smoke is easy
Quick question who has more damage potential smoke or Shao
If you cancel his amplified smoke port he turns invisible, which I think is the more effective way of getting into it. The smoke bomb is so slow, but the smoke port cancel forces them to figure out what to do.
Exactly I noticed that too, which is the exact reason I started leaning more towards amplified smoke port but still mix it from time to time
How do you cancel it ??
@zowilliamsiii8148 same way you cancel vicious vapors. Back block.

Smoke imo is a type of character that can win against any noobs but struggles a lot against actual players.

So, if you do back+2, 3 you can combo into the teleport, which makes for a nice little mixup from his normal back+2, 3, 4.
this is not a mixup theres no overheads in back 2,3,4. and you cant combo teleport from back 2,3. only back 2

Is it just me, or is smoke a lot like MK11 scorpion?
He's pretty similar yes
I don't think so
Still new to fighting games but how can I get more consistent with the back forward x type of moves?
Practice. Move your thumb off the pad when going from left to right. It’ll reduce your mis inputs
I hope to see Shang Tsung guide
"B2 reactable?! Not if I'm on WI-FI" - every smoke main
Hmm.. maybe the ethernet port breaking on my ps5 can end up being a blessing..😅
What master level do you need to get hooded Smoke skin?
18
Kudos thank u. U R awesome thanks for the video
I really think Lao and Sektor are his best kameos. Lao helps with so many of Smokes blaring weaknesses. Scorp great for higher damage though
Great guide, but I'm really gonna need a Sindel guide next. Pretty please 🥺
teleport also combos with back 2
Is it just me? I always failed to combo multiple teleports together, how did you even do it?
After the first teleport, pause for literally a second before you go into 11 teleport again.
