- Most driving offences carry penalty points that will be endorsed on your driving licence.
When the number of these points reaches (or 'tots up to) 12 the court normally imposes a disqualification of at least 6 months, and sometimes 12 or more if there has been a similar 'totting up' ban in the past 4 years.
This can be disproportionately harsh on drivers whose livelihood relies on their licence or the facts of the offences or other circumstance would produce "exceptional hardship".
In these circumstances an application can be made for the court to use their discretion for clemency on the usual disqualification.
This video sets out some of the useful things that surround such an application.
excellent thank you.
So can you no longer get someone else to take your points if its extreme hardship and courts may not give a crap only choice is bribery and risk it right anyone experienced this please reply
This may result in the very serious crime of “Attempting to pervert the course of justice” a prison term normally follows.
