If I'm not mistaken, the highlighting of mentioned troops during the battle line setup is new. I think it's a good touch.
Not quite, they have done it before if you watch closely at previous videos, but it’s just been more of a golden halo rather than the tinted boxes

It should be remembered that Henry himself was originally a usurper. Only his political skill (and outmaneuvering of his brothers) combined with his long reign enabled a semblance of order. It shouldn't be surprising that things fell apart after his death.

@@theaverageitaliandon998 you can lead them to the battlefield and that's pretry much it.You can earn their respect, but you can't really do much strategy wise. How many times great generals lost battles simply because their army didn't follow their plan.

Good morning, everyone! There is a new Baz Battles video out. Nothing else matters right now.
Even though David lost, you have to give him credit for being able to retreat with a well organized force. No following enemy forces cutting down fleeing soldiers today. Whoever chased him would have had to contend with a fighting force that could still bite.

So Henry I's favorite tactics of dismounting the majority of his knights to form a strong central infantry line while keeping a small number of mounted knights in reserve stayed in use after his death. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

As a graphic designer myself, I must to say that the aesthetics of the graphic should be proclaimed as a Standard, comparing to similar channels such as K&G, History March and others. Love it with great appreciation! Please keep up it this way

It's interesting to see all the similarities to "Fire and Blood" by R.R. Martin.
I read somewhere that reading "A song of Ice and Fire" by G.R.R. Martin (and Westeros' lore as well) was to read a fantasy version of the history of England.
I see now where he got the inspiration for the "Dance of Dragons", a Targaryen civil war.

Just a quick and small thing, I'm from the region of Dumfries and Galloway originally. It's usual to refer to people from Galloway as 'Gallovidian' rather than 'Galwegian'. Gallovidian is a common term, it's been used for companies, a magazine cited by Dorothy L. Sayers in one of her crime novels, a Scottish country dance etc. I believe the term Galwegian more commonly relates to the dialect of Gaelic spoken there until the last native speaker died sometime around 1760 or there-abouts. It's just really weird to hear people referred to so differently than they actually would be from your own experience.
Other-wise, excellent work
I am kind of disappointed that this was not a battle between people that supported the metric system vs the imperial system.

I will never understand battles like these. David yielded to the demands of Galwegians, they rushed and charged at the enemy and everthing is fine up until here. What i don't understand is why David hesitated to support the Galwegians with the rest of his army. He outnumbered the enemy and still managed to lose. Galwegians wanted to be on the first line and charge first. Their wishes were fullfilled so it's not like David didn't support them because it would be a dishonorable act for them. Can someone explain it to me 😕?
My thoughts exactly, surely it's important to deploy all your strength at the same time to overwelm the opponent - not offer half your army to them, while the rest sit back and watch. They must have not had room to deploy I guess. Or maybe David wanted the Galwegians to die, who knows.
From some stuff I've read about the battle, it seems that King David may not have had full control of the army on the day of battle. There seemed to be quite a bit of debate of who got to lead the first assault. The Galwegians demanded they lead it due to some ancient tradition and/or due to their recent victory at Clitharoe. Some of the nobility, who included Normans (who may have felt insulted by playing 2nd fiddle to Scots), challenge this proclamation and told David to stick to his original plan. David however, relented to the Galwegians and when the battle occurred, David "may have" ordered the remaining men forward, but the nobles "may have" refused his orders. Once the Galwegians broke, David apparently dismounted to lead the remaining men on foot, but they turned and ran.
