These all made me feel like I was back home with mom and dad and little sister. It's 1957 and the tree is all lit up in the corner and "The Wonderful World of Disney" is on our rounded screen, Zenith TV (with Santa's boot and the manger scene sitting on top of it). Those little pixie figures are on the shelves in the kitchen, daddy's wreaths (Woolworth's - $2.99) are in the windows. Mom's in the kitchen fixing dinner and despite the fact that I am only about 7 years old (I'm 69 now), I am so at ease and at peace in my world at that moment that I stop and soak it all in. Life at this second is perfect. I think because I did that, that memory is as clear and sharp to me as if it happened last night. (I can actually use this memory in bio-feedback that will make my blood pressure drop!) It's pure, peaceful happiness. That's the power of just seeing these little things. They are precious beyond words!
Mamie Bobb Yes !! This definitely lowered my blood pressure ♥️ My mother put our Nativity scene on the console TV also. I still have all those treasures. Some don’t understand the strong emotions we feel. But it really hits you deeply doesn’t it.
Christmas is my favorite holiday (who needs to be reminded we are getting old with birthday celebrations?) and absolutely LOVE vintage christmas items from the 40's, 50's and 60's especially the Napco angels.
Yes Jesus is the reason for the season. This haul reminds me of my trips to Woolworths when i was young I love the salt and peppers and the nativity candle holders i wish they still made things like that.Thank you so much for this video.Have a great day.
The hole in the back of the Nativity scene was for a light bulb! We has something similar. Dad put one of the1950s style Christmas bulbs in the hole. Could not light it for long! The heat from the bulb would set the cardboard on fire! I grew up in the 50s and 60s. Christmas has never been as delightful! The magic of childhood. I want to thank you for this sight. It is a warm step back into my childhood!
Amazing finds!!! I'm so glad that you make a point to remind us of the true meaning of CHRISTmas. Even though we truly don't know the exact date of his birth, this is the date that we Christians celebrate it. I loved Woolworths. This brought many memories back. TFS
Jesus is the reason for this wonderful season. Unfortunately that is forgotten by so many these days. Think you're right about the set of 6 glasses being jelly jars. They look very familiar to me.. I just love all of the holly ceramic pieces. I agree that the tree base is very busy and the addition of snow on the tree doesn't help. When I did that base I antiqued it after painting it to tone the colors down. TFS your lovely pieces. ❤
I love both Nativities. I was lucky to have inherited my parents Nativity . They were married in April 1963 and it was the first Christmas item that they purchased. Great items.
Sitting here with my coffee and breakfast . School was called off due to icy roads and severe cold. When they called last night, to let us know, I could here a resounding YAY! from my kidlettes in my mind!!!
I’m sittin in my BarcaLounger in my pj with a bowl of chippless and crackless enjoying this haul. Lol I love the sweet little smudge faces I would leave’ em the way they are. They remind me of some naughty lil elves that got into Mrs Clause Christmas cookie frosting. 😉👍
Thank you Scott for starting this video off glorifying our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! This acknowledgment is part of why I prefer you! These vintage Christmas goodies get my heart racing! I love the colors, and I collect vintage Christmas myself. Glad tidings to you and yours!
Hi Scott, What a "Plethora" of Christmas memories ! Thank you for sharing your Nativity story,I own some objects that do not have a monetary value, but, are "Priceless" to me. I love those plastic Snowman mugs ! I have an affinity for "Snowmen" with "Coal eyes.and nose". I don't like skinny Snowmen, or skinny Santa's ! Stay warm, it's getting very cold in the North East.Thank you for your nostalgic video's, and music. Cindy
Jesus is the reason for the season Scott, I so appreciate you mentioning our Lord and savior Jesus Christ! I also love all those wonderful old Christmas decorations! By the way is never too early for Christmas music!
Love love love vintage Christmas!!! Thank you for sharing about our Lord and Savior!! The Manger Scenes are beautiful and I always enjoy the music!! My Mom has the Wise Men candlesticks complete with stars and they are a favorite of mine!! Great finds😍🎄
I remember and inherited the nativity scene from Italy which sat on top of our TV in the 50's. The figures were each bought separately from S. S. Kresge 5 & 10 cent store and still have the price stickers attached. My dear Mama bought them as she could and added to it until it was complete. I have passed this cherished nativity on to my son who now displays it in his home each Christmas. Thanks for the memories as always~ Snowbound in Michigan
Wonderful video! And love that you began with our Lord and Saviors birth. I loved the old Christmas stuff from my childhood. I’m 60. Sadly 3 years ago when we cleaned out my moms house after dad died, my niece stole all the Christmas from my childhood. Some were things I made. So wonderful you found a reminder of your childhood.
Do you know how much good you do? Not only are we shown an array of treasures but you allow us to visit our childhood. I’m pretty choked up right now. When I saw those Nativity scenes I just about burst out in tears. Your entire counter is filled with my best memories. Thank you so much Scott. Have we told you we love you lately? And how did you know I was in my bathrobe ...😊
What a fun haul! Reminds me so much of Christmas at my grandmother's house. Thank you for talking about the true meaning of Christmas and the lovely nativity scenes ❤ Also, I received the afghan yesterday just in time for this cold snap, I love it!
@@oldcuriosityshop265 I wish I could meet her, but I love knowing that you met her and that I have a little history on it! I admired it from the moment I saw it in your video, so I was quite happy I was able to get it ❤
Thank you for saying that the birth of our Lord and Saviour is the reason we celebrate. Loved seeing all the wonderful Christmas happinesses on the counter today.
I went on the hunt for vintage Christmas and found these knee hugger elf's from the 50s 60s I love them and a Campbells soup bell it's really a music box and a wind up santa and other things it's fun searching
Thank you very much for making this video. There's at least 3 or 4 things from this video that I've been looking for for years. Really wish I saw it when they were still listed. You helped a lot with identifying them by giving the manufacturer and product names.
What a wonderful collection. I love your sentimentality with the Nativity Set. Touched my heart. So sad that every time I ask my Mom whatever happened to... her reply is the same, “ that old thing? I got rid of that ages ago.” Nice to see that many of these Christmas items have survived and that someone will love and appreciate them. Great video. ❤️
I love that you mentioned Christmas cards! The sending of cards seems to be a dying tradition. I still love displaying my cards each year, especially the old style cards of winter scenes with glitter or sparkles. Last year I renewed a tradition of making an ornament out of old cards that I didn't want to keep. The ornaments are gorgeous and make great gifts.
Love it all!! I have that Santa sleigh with reindeer blow mold! Our elf on the shelf, “Chippy”, comes riding in on the reindeer each year. I especially love the red pixie elf, and the set of six Merry Christmas glasses. 😍
Great haul! What fantastic finds. Back in the day we were happy with cardboard ornaments and felt-coated plastics. A blast from my past. Thanks, Scott!
Fun, fun, fun Christmas treasures all! The tray is fantastic. I think you’re right...the 6-glass set looks like jelly jars. They could be Anchor Hocking. Thanks for showing us these beautiful items. Am headed to your ebay store right now! 🎄🙂
Wow! That is the mother lode of vintage Christmas. You thrifted some great finds. I can’t believe our family never had a ceramic tree. I’ve never seen one with snow. I’m from Canada and we had a metal nativity scene. There is a place for a bulb to light it up and the characters and animals are all white plastic. My parents kept it under the tree. I have it now packed away. Love the little green elves.
Well this explains why I’m not having any luck finding Vintage Christmas, you found it all 😂 Amazing! Love the Nativity’s. I have the Santa Sleigh Blow Mold. Such goodness! As always enjoyed. 🤗
Thank you Rachel and congrats on so many new subscribers. I knew your channel would take off because of your genuine personality. I see you tagged me in the 19 questions challenge. I'm thinking it over. I just might answer those questions!
Scott's Old Curiosity Shop thanks Scott! No pressure, however the questions aren’t to invasive lol, and lots of us love you a whole bunch and would like to be nosy, and know a bit more! 🤗 from a very cold snowy Michigan.
I meant to make a more practical comment and ended up waxing nostalgic! Here's the practical comment - Those little flea bites, missing color, and even larger chips can be easily "fixed" (if you want them fixed) with a dab or two of nail polish! A few years ago I bought this beautiful large vase with a gorgeous deep dark maroon and black marbled finish with highlights of gold that could just be seen when light shone on it a certain way. It's about 24" high and doesn't carry any manufacturers marks in the bottom. It's really gorgeous - except for one problem. It had a huge chip out of the top rim that left the exposed white porcelain showing like a giant splotch. Nobody wanted it with that huge flaw - except me. I got it home and used Google to find a bottle of "Black Cherry" nail polish. It was black with deep maroon highlights and flashes of gold! I put about 4 coats of it on that chip and it completely disappeared and blended into the shiny original surface. You can feel it - but you can't see it. Then I got an old ceramic Christmas tree for a song, because two of the tips were chipped off. A few dabs of green nail polish and they disappeared too. It's an easy, simple "fix" that anybody can do.
It is funny seeing how much fun and joy could be purchased (back then) for 39 cents, 69 cents, and even splurging spending $1.19 at Kresge’s, Woolworth’s, and Grant’s. Now, that was some real shopping! Today, just open that Amazon Prime account, buy a $39.99, 6 easy payments + free overnight shipping, hand painted artist signed reproduction MCM retro vintage Pixie, mint in box, numbered with certificate of authenticity with $50 free insurance. Just send me a rubberized MCM Whoopee fart cushion instead.
Scott, Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I agree that the "Merry Christmas" glasses definitely have a jelly jar feel about them. (candies or dried fruit?) And the little guys with the chippy faces? Just leave them be! Like me, I've got lots of Christmases behind me and I'm showing my age. No point trying to fool anyone that we're younger than we really are!
Awww Scott beautiful things kind of pulls at my heartstrings. My Mom and Dad are gone now, but Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I came from a big family. Now it's not the same. But I cherish the memories. Thanks for sharing another heartwarming video. Bless you and can't wait for the next one. Your friend and admirer Cheryl 💖
Hello Scott, Greetings from BROAD & WINGOHOCKEN. I'm from and live in Philly. I'm NEW to your Channel and I adore you!! Best learning experience. I am binge watching Your videos and these Christmas decorations are PRICELESS. I was born in "1961" and we had some EPIC Christmas Mornimg's. Thanks so much SCOTT for making me SMILE and CRY. I hope your day is filled with lot's and lot's of happiness. Hope you get to read this?
Oh wow I love them all !! I remember my grandmother having those snowman cups I was scarred of them when I was little lol She got where she wouldn’t put them out cause they scared me
Most little boys get smudged faces when it's Christmas and they are into the chipless and crackless😁🤶🎅🎄👵💖🦋 FANTASTIC SELECTION of some of My own Christmas Memories!!!! I have the Nativity that I bought my first married Christmas in 1966, along with many items from the 40s , 50s, 60s and 70s. That I prefer over the new stuff🎄 Thank you!
I have a set of six glasses in the same wire basket as your "jelly jar" Xmas set. They're similar in shape, but not textured in the bottom rings. They're just smooth with gold rims that are in good shape. They seem "middle of the road" in quality. They have no markers or identifiers either. Mine may be a half inch or so shorter, but they're a tiny bit bigger around and fit the basket better than those, I do dig that set though just as much as mine. No, I wouldn't touch the little elf faces either, and would drag them out every year and love on them.
Awesome Christmas haul! 😍 Love all the elf sitting figurines. My favorites are the two Christmas mangers, you always find some unique old ones which is something I never find here in my town unless maybe I go to an antique store. I sold an exact Empire Santa with Reindeer blow mold for $100 plus free shipping on Etsy. People love those!
Oh, forgot to say that I love the toys/presents on the base of the ceramic tree. Hope I find one someday! The tree looks beautiful in your listing photos, by the way!
Great finds Scott, I have been recently considering of bring back out our old cardboard nativity set for my granddaughter to enjoy, just like I did way back then,I have the fold out stable yard the one you talked about, I have 12 figures left out of 14, made of chalkware,my mother would display it under the tree ,where me and my siblings would lay out under the tree and watch Christmas specials on TV, can't image how the camel an angel are no longer in the set..🤔
Scott🌲 Thank you for starting your video out with the nativities. I've collected nativities from all over the world as well as vintage Christmas since 1961, yes I am an old man now LOL PLEASE REPLY AND LET ME KNOW HOW TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU AT THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP. I hope you had a Blessed and Merry Christmas. Jesus is the Reason for the Season 🦌🎅🤶
Scott love your channel, not always about the money but what you actually love. Do have a question, do you find European art deco on your travels, I know you c pick up Johnson brothers, do you ever find Newport factory collectables and others of that period, thank you for reading this message xx
European Art Deco is hard to find and rather expensive most of the time. But I just love Art Deco. I'm afraid I'm not conversant with Newport factory collectibles.
Those Elves were finger painting when their mom called them into the parlor for the annual Christmas photo and there was no time for face washing as the photographer had to leave for his next gig!
Is true what you say Scott . People think the is all about gift and is not. Is about family and being together for the holidays .Jesus our savior ❤.Thanks for Charing your videos whit us UA-cam brother 👍❤😁. Great findings Scott.
I could cry. I love and remember these things.

“His eyeballs are gouged out as well as his mouth.” Hahaha! We could play “Halloween or Christmas?”
Gosh my choice of words wasn't the best for Christmas was it!
Yes yes yes! The most important thing is Jesus! Thank you Scott! All of your items are so wonderful! So blessed to be watching your videos!
Amen! He brought love and light into a dark dark world. I could not survive one day without HIM.
Chip less & crackless 😂🤣😂🤣 great Christmas video👍🏻
I just bought the word Noel from my local Salvation Army. It is the green set and I love it!
Oh, forgot to say that I love the toys/presents on the base of the ceramic tree. Hope I find one someday! The tree looks beautiful in your listing photos, by the way!
I was amazed when I found this one with NO damage considering how easy it is to chip them. Now just wish me luck when when it comes time to ship!
Loved the memories !
That red elf in the beginning is terrifying, but I love it?
We also had a set of the 3 Kings candle holder.
Ours had the chain and star.
Love the trip down memory road♡
Scott..dollar general has a great sale on ginger snaps this week!😊

Thank you for starting your video out with the nativities.
I've collected nativities from all over the world as well as vintage Christmas since 1961, yes I am an old man now LOL

Jesus is the Reason for the Season 🦌🎅🤶
You can use a dimmer with those old lights
Scott love your channel, not always about the money but what you actually love. Do have a question, do you find European art deco on your travels, I know you c pick up Johnson brothers, do you ever find Newport factory collectables and others of that period, thank you for reading this message xx
European Art Deco is hard to find and rather expensive most of the time. But I just love Art Deco. I'm afraid I'm not conversant with Newport factory collectibles.
Those Elves were finger painting when their mom called them into the parlor for the annual Christmas photo and there was no time for face washing as the photographer had to leave for his next gig!
I love it.
Is true what you say Scott . People think the is all about gift and is not. Is about family and being together for the holidays .Jesus our savior ❤.Thanks for Charing your videos whit us UA-cam brother 👍❤😁. Great findings Scott.
