I can't listen to this song without becoming an emotional wreck. Many years ago I discovered a reel to reel recording of me singing this song as a 5 year old. I loved it back in the 60's, as I do now. The entire original Keith West opera is just brilliant. When the world was a better place! Thanks Dad for giving me that memory.
Oh the memories. I was 8 years old when the original song was released in 1967 and whilst I love the original song this is a lovely version reproduced authentically. Also nice to see this performed by some non English performers. Thankfully music transcends nationality’s. I hope the children performing understood the message the song was trying to convey. I don’t understand some of the nasty and disparaging comments which I hope you can ignore in favour of those of us that appreciate your efforts. Thanks for uploading. 👍
Simply Delightful, remember the original from Keith West, 1967, (showing my age there) always loved this, I believe this was planned stage production about a grocer of the town who died, but it never got to see the light of day, anyway, great vid, great production. Well done!!!!
Gratulation - Congratulations to you all...
Well done for a fabulous performance! Difficult to get a live version of the song but you've done really well. The kids' voices are perfect! Brilliant!
Geweldig!
This song charted high in Europe. It reached number 1 in The Netherlands, higher than in the UK where it reached number 2. I assume these people singing are from The Netherlands, they sound Dutch.
Simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G just a little bit more energy and the drama atmosphere Keith missed too. It’s an opera, make it enigmatic, stylish, mysterious but cool!
This song was famously recorded by Keith West, who released his version as a single in 1967. The single charted at Number 2 in both the UK and Ireland.
Larry Wyse My sister and I were from the original children who sang Grocer Jack on TOTPS in 1967. I can only find footage of the children playing in the woods. How can we find original footage of us kids singing in a group on TOTPS stage?
Before Muslims and prostitution, we had real muzack! Nowadays kids just play Donkey Kong on fucking Gameboy while becoming radicalized over the two-way radio! I blame O'Bama!
Its always hoing to he difficult to sound like the original - i think that it is being sung by a German man, their is a strong accent, but its a commendable effort - the kids sang confidently - and to them, english is s foreign language, if it goes wrong, they could easily default to German
Oh such a purist am I. To my ears this does not work because the children are American and sound whiney and annoying while the English children on the original sound plaintiff and innocent.

I know exactly what you mean... those were the days..
Yes. Me too.
I don't know who but I am addicted to this song. I was young when I first heard this song.

We're the same age! I melt at this song!
Brings a tear to my eye
The original was one of my favorites back in '67. Nice that someone thought to do this 40+ years later. Pretty decent... the kids did great.

nothing can equal let alone top the original, that I "discovered" growing up in those days. having said that, this version is very endearing
2 years and no comment... A beautiful cover!
I remember the original of this song from 1967....this is a wonderful cover !!
I agree. The original tempo has been kept and it's an excellent cover. Thanks for the upload, Glenn Moerman.

A brilliant performance of the song, great to see Music transcends Generation and nationalities, this sounds as good today as when first written.
Klasse gemachte Version von ein großen Hit. Danke !

This is a nice rendition. I don't think it was uploaded for people (some) to be rude about it. You either like it or you don't
What a great remake. Very nicely done. 👌👌👌

Remember the old version song 1969 this is a new version , and this one is just as cool, A teen opera grocer Jack ! ❤
It was in 1967 actually!
Simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G just a little bit more energy and the drama atmosphere Keith missed too. It’s an opera, make it enigmatic, stylish, mysterious but cool!

Very hard song to cover. Very hard.

Can't help it, I prefer the original sung by Keith West.
Brilliant!

Before Muslims and prostitution, we had real muzack! Nowadays kids just play Donkey Kong on fucking Gameboy while becoming radicalized over the two-way radio! I blame O'Bama!

Wunderbares Cover des Titels von Keith West.❤❤❤
Goed gelukt 👍✌
Nooooo…..a classic like this can NEVER be reproduced 😱
Like it very well. :)
I never knew Elvis Costello did a cover of this song
I'm filling up
I have been looking for this song on you tube for hours now this is crap ,but I am giving up now as it was the best I found
5888max That's odd. Took me five seconds to find the original.
Just input Keith West.....
I wish he’d have sung it without that grin on his face.
Sorry to say this, but this is a poor version. Anyone who loves this song should look up Keith West and stick with the original.
Jacqui Mepham with you on that jacaui shame cos I'm sure the children did there best just the singer doesn't compare best wishes x
Its always hoing to he difficult to sound like the original - i think that it is being sung by a German man, their is a strong accent, but its a commendable effort - the kids sang confidently - and to them, english is s foreign language, if it goes wrong, they could easily default to German
Nothing on the original song
Oh such a purist am I. To my ears this does not work because the children are American and sound whiney and annoying while the English children on the original sound plaintiff and innocent.

Not a patch on the original by Keith West .In fact its crap.
