Excellent, I spend a lot of time visiting my family in Green Wood Cemetery on Canal Street. I haven't taken the time to locate my relatives in St Louis #1 ,#2 ... Most of my folks post 1870's were buried in the 1940's- 1960s on Hawthorne Avenue. For my heart ❤️ it does a lot of good, They all lived together in the Quarter now they are all in the same Cemetery.
My Grand Parents on both sides are in Metairie, Lake Lawn. Dad's in the Old tomb in Green Wood

I live very near New Orleans. It’s so very unique in every way. I know that the media demonizes us here, but it is so soulful and special. There’s no place like home 🫶🏻
From New Orleans here...soulful and evil. But dont tell that to people from New Orleans. This city is so dysfunctional, decadent, evil, criminal and frankly stupid now. There used to be strong religious communities to counterbalance this, but they have been weakened. They have taken down many inner cities and now they are taking down the suburbs and rural areas next.
Visited recently and the city truly spoke to me, the vibe is like no other. Love New Orleans

Lake Okeechobee...In 1918, the water level dropped to an all-time low revealing hundreds of human remains wedged in the silt along the north sides of Ritta and Kreamer Islands. There seemed to be no order to these skeletons. Bones of both adults and children were scattered all over the lake bottom.

God I love your docs Doc! What a great synchronicity to put the feelers out and end up with the perfect place and people to cover, I love when things work out in weird ways like that, and they seem to work out that way for you ALL the time. Our family tomb is in New Orleans cemetery. We all lay to rest there. I never put the cemetery/metarie connection. And I didn’t know about the race track origin story. It’s right there in your face and I just never put it together. Our mausoleum fits an unlimited amount as the summer heat and humidity decomposes the caskets and bodies. They’re built with special vents. I suggest everyone visit the cemetery there. It’s right off the interstate, you can’t miss it.

Boston has amazing graveyards we stopped in a few and WOW crazy money in tombs.
Our cemeteries used to have WAY more statues and decorations, but most were stolen and sold online!!

Why go to that cemetery when the St. Louis is the oldest and has some of the best pre-american tombs! It is also the best in the french quarter.
