I wrote Jesus, I Love Thee in Flemish when I was in the hospital being treated for an aneurysm in 1970. The Boothe Brothers were singing in Detroit and Howard Goodman brought them up to meet me. Ivan Foote wrote a verse of the song and his brother Charles Foote translated the song into English. I gave the Foote brothers permission to have the copyright.
And about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. - Acts 16:25

Michael English, Wes Hampton, David Phelps, Mark Lowry and Bill Gaither were unequivocally THE best Gaither Vocal Band. Their vocal harmony and singular nuances match better than any other GVB put together. Talent unmatched and perfection together!! I’ve worshipped, praised and had such soul changes listening to these men sing and usher us into the very Presence of God - thank you for all you’ve given to the world gentlemen!! ❤

@@JuliusGrady-v9h I am not discrediting Michael English. It's just that, for me, Guy Penrod is the BEST lead singer that the group ever had. He's in the same ballpark as David Phelps, and we all know how great he is.
Once you leave Guy Penrod out of the equation then we have done nothing because he's the best Lead singer in GVB ever.

What pleases me about this group is that although they are all wonderful solo artists in their own right, they tone it down and come together beautifully together. it is a very hard thing to do as a soloist, but when they are singing together they all have the same volume level so as to not overtake the other singers. Wonderful excellent harmony.
Enjoy hearing Bill Gaither sing. He has such a deep voice.

This song is my testimony. I lost my job in 2015 and Stayed jobless for 4years, ended up with no friends and at one time on the street..but one day when I least expected I got a call inviting me for a job interview and I got it..He sure is a way maker,it doesn't matter how long you wait on Him, He will most definitely make a way for you if you pray and wait on Him..this song brings be Tears of joy everytime I listen to it.

This is literally the best version of this song in my opinion. All them are great but just somethin about this one that sends chills and excites me sooo much. I love Mark, Michael, Wes, Bill and David singing together sooo much!

These songs by the GVB are in my opinion some of the best gospel music ever recorded .... David, Wes, Michael, Mark and Bill ... I cannot imagine anything any better ...... I listen often, and tears come every time ... their songs bring me closer ... every time ......

Brother Joe, I know exactly what you are saying. I don't get that you're trying to praise the Gaither Groups, what I hear is that the music plus the delivery takes you closer to God. I understand that. I really do. I was backsliden and truly lost, dealing and using drugs and I came across a Gaither's CD that floored me. It immediately took me into God's Spirit and as I listened, I cried like a baby and found my way back to Christ.. right then, right there. That was 14 years ago and though I have stumbled and screwed up a few times since, I learned how to really give myself to Jesus. I know what people are saying about the millions of dollars, the chauffeured limousines, the private jets, all of that. I lean toward thinking that is wrong too but their music is anointed and blessed of God. That's all I need to know about them. I'm not a fan.. but I'm not stupid either.. haaha. Mike

Worthy worthy worthy is the Lamb that was slayed
Worthy The Lamb is another song that was written in the fall of 1973 when my pastor Robert Payne was doing a Bible study series on the Book of Revelation. The song was written in Flemish and translated into English by my mother.
I love how you can hear the joy in Mark’s voice, the triumph in Michael’s voice and the adoration in David’s voice. I love the blending and the harmonies. I just love this group of guys singing together
I could listen to Guy and David all day every day, you can feel how much they love singing what they sing.
I can listen to this group of men all day everyday. By far the best GVB group! I feel the Holy Spirit every time I watch this video! Thank you Jesus.

It's 'funny' how it turns out--no matter the combination of singers who make up the GVB, God has a way of making His presence known and getting His message out. I don't care WHO sings this song...the depth of the emotion IN it makes me want to be in the number that swells the song WORTHY THE LAMB slain for me!!! My mother in law introduced me to GVB and I can't stop listening to them everyday and every night best Gospel singers ever!
My mother was watching Gaithers on the her favorite chair and passed away from massive heart attack.
I have such comfort to know my mother went to be with her Savior while watching her favorite hymns ❤
I have followed the Gathiers since I was 12 yrs old, my brother-in-law took me to the War Memorial Bldg in Nashville TN.Thats when it was Gloria, Bill & Danny, they were awesome then & even better 2day, one of the songs they sang and I will never forget it was Jesus I heard u had a big house, then they became the GVB, I have gone thru just about every singer that has been in the GVB and have been so very blessed with each & every one of them. Then came Mark Lowry, I so loved his voice way back when, but he has the most beautiful voice now that it is a blessing to hear him sing...Of course I love his comedy..Then came David Phelps, Guy Penrod and they are truly inspired men of God, when they sing u can actually see the Spirit of God all over them..Russ Taff brought so much as well, then Michael English came back to the group, I have always enjoyed listening to Michael sing, his voice was try amazing when he was with u the first time, I know that he went through some very difficult times, but God saw fit to bring him back into the fold and in his testimony, he said that God told him "He loved him just the way he was, and just as he was right then, then He said all He expected in return was for Michael to love Him back and for him to give Him his best". I am so thankful that we serve a God of second chances...Michael English sings better today than he ever has before, I believe that he does because he sings to God & God alone...I Iove Michael's heart so much and he has such a sweet spirit about him, that it is amazing.
Those guys can really sing!! God really blessed them with amazing voices!

I love so many of the Gaither-penned pieces, but this is my favorite. Its message is Biblical and one that will resonate throughout all time. WORTHY THE LAMB THAT WAS SLAIN! My dad passed away this week {will be four years,} from Alzheimer's.
I remember as a youth how a choir came to our church for a revival.
They sang this song, and I remember how excited he got.

I can see it now, hundreds of millions of us, before the mighty throne of judgement rejoicing that we are going home. Those who rejected God with the impending doom of their separation, it is so awful that it hurts the heart and soul of the saved. We know the love of Christ and the life changing power, yet the majority mock and reject. I pray they "SEE" and get the abundant life.

I was working at the time at a men's shelter...and it was highly recommended that I attend this concert. I really didn't know much about the Gather Vocal Band, but I believe I was either at this one or one like it. I was caught up by God's great anointing as this group sang. Blessed? Yes, beyond words!!!!
This is the best ever of the GVB. Mark, Michael, Guy and David are doing their own thing now. I miss them all together, but they are getting older and all have families except Mark. I wouldn’t last a week traveling the way they do.

Met Mark & Wes in 2013 Indianapolis Christmas Homecoming. It was fabulous. The people who attended gave over $75,000 to the local homeless shelter. I'll never forget it. And David Phelps sung Oh Holy Night.
I wrote Worthy Is The Lamb in the fall of 1976. Our local pastor was doing a study on The Book of Revelation. I was meditating on what it meant that The Lamb Slain From the Foundation of the World was the ONLY ONE worthy to open The Book of Life and to be the final judge of all people.
This is epic, but just try to imagine the real scene that is to take place one day not far from now, when thousands of voices actually face-to-face before the terrible but benign Lamb of God chant their hymns and sing their hearts out, beholding the beautiful face, the locks of hair, the beard, the eyes, the hands, the feet, the side- oh, what a great day that will be!
How is HE terrible. Please explain because CHRIST IS LOVE AND HE IS GUIDED BY TRUTH AND FAIRNESS. That said, it will be a terrible day for those who reject the only remedy they sin against because there will be no more distractions for sins resulting in the crushing guilt of shame.
Revelation 5:6 States that the Lamb would have 7 horns and 7 eyes and would appear as slain.
The definition of terrible is anything that would cause terror or fright.
The definition of benign is anything gentle and/or calm in appearance and personality.
So I know exactly what Aeric means when he calls the Lamb of God terrible but benign.
The Lamb of God is indeed benign, but if I say a lamb that looked slain, had 7 horns, and 7 eyes, I would be trembling to my knees.

Doesn't matter if you're tenor bass, baritone etc. What matter is YOUR HEART TO GOD. praise God with these men and their voices used for God's glory!

But what about Mark?
Yeah, David and Michael killed it - as usual - but Mark sounds great too! He didn't get nearly enough solos while he was with the group for my liking. His rich, expressive voice is really underrated!
He really does have a fine voice. Modern culture doesn't understand sincerity. They want flash and things that really don't matter.
Mark's voice was the best of this group, imo. Very rich.
Mark had plenty of solos. You just need to look for them. Also he did tons of comedy and openers for the group. You got to look for those, too. Bill and Mark had great routines.
Such uplifting and wonderful songs that I just cannot get enough. Blessed are the people who bring us the message through song in such a wonderful way.
