Love the video very detailed. But you do not need to remove the motor mounts or axel at all. The alternator comes out right from the top. I did 3 of these including my own cruiser.
I don't know if you guys are asking me about the turbo. But I'm talking about the alternator with my reply it's very easy it comes out the top just move the coolant reservoir and yes I have a turbo
It's a convertible turbo. I just put the alternator back in and forgot the heat shield. I wanted to see in your video if I need to pull the alternator out to put the shield back on but I think I don't.
I put in new motor mounts, all 4 including the middle mount. What a pain! lol. 2 jacks and removed the transmission mounts to get the motor to slide over enough to take the middle mount out. Not a job for people with no patience :)
Thomas Morley I just did the job through the top😯 you can put the heat shield on even after the fact. two 10 mm on top one bolt on bottom from underneath, leave them loose till all three are started
Is you vehicle by chance without a turbo? If the vehicle is equipped with a turbo you should not be able removed without lowering the engine, but if you are able to remove the alternator on a turbo engine without lowering the engine then you may have a broken mount somewhere.
@@TweekerDan1984 been looking around myself for easier ways too do this job as my 03 turbo needs it at some point. Have heard a few people say they removed the overflow res and were able to take it out the top. And yes these were all turbo model owners. Havent seen it myself but enough people claim to have done it. gonna give it a try myself when the time comes

@TweekerDan1984 no he's talking about the turbo I'm doing mine now u just have to move the coolant reservoir then wiggle it out

@@scottcates yes turbo
Well done and easy to follow. I should have my daughter's car done (hopefully) tomorrow or Saturday. Cheers!
Let me know if you have any questions 👍
Why easier to take out of the top, I just did it on my 2006 PT. Remove the radiator overflow tank on the firewall and it will pull out the top.
Thank you for sharing, Is your ms by chance non turbo?

+Atmospheric Pressure “I run like Forrest Gump.”

@@Strelitzia_2 Did it work?
You gotta be shitting me?.......that's CRAZY😳.....it's gotta be a better way?
Remove coolant reservoir, a hose or two, pull it out the top of the engine bay. Tight fit, but you don't have to disassemble half of your car.
Poorest engineering ever
Thanks for the cheat sheet though👍🏻
Awesome video. Makes me want to hire this job out.
