I had a 2004 156 Veloce 1.9 jtd. loved it . turning circle of amoca cadiz ,responsive, composed, not an A4, 320. c class etc, it felt special,unfortunately it didn't swallow twin Jane prams and five year olds. also had matching twin spark GTV for mrs but was more show than go. i did 50,000 miles in eighteen months and the 156 soaked it up, god bless the Bosch electrics. only the insurance joke of moving to West Belfast made the car unviable, as if the hoods had ever a clue what an Alfa was!
I have Lancia Thesis 2,4 JTD - 175 bhp. This guy is right. That engine is just a masterpiece...smooth, sporty, responsive, economical, powerful...nice sound, and it moves 2 tone heavy car with ease. And nobody believes it has only 175bhp, everyone says at least over 200.
2.4 is a 5 cylinder diesel and sounds amazing...all of 5 cyl engines does!

This was the first production car with a common rail Diesel engine. Italians build good engines.
