- The band decided to cover 'Long Train Running' and I needed a Compressor pedal for the tone. I considered boutique and then thought about good value pedals and eventually decided to buy the tc electronics Hyper Gravity Compressor.
Did it do the job?
Well, its still on my pedal board and I like it a lot being honest, but take the time to watch the video to see how I got on.
Thankyou to Elevated Band Tracks for the backing tracks in this edition of G&G.
"I am a regular bloke form the North of the UK with a real day job.....end of".
"However, in my limited spare time I enjoy nothing more than playing guitar and getting out to gigs whether they are my own or others".
This Channel is all about my personal experiences of being an amateur guitarist, playing at home and in the local pub and getting to experience other fantastic musicians that I want to share with you.
There will be good times and the not so good times as I continue on my six string journey, so sit back and enjoy the laughs and tears and hopefully some great guitar.....Thanks Kev

Omg subbed instantly!
Huge thank you for supporting the channel and taking the time to comment, which is appreciated. Regards Kev
Nice. Sounded great at rehearsal the other night. Put me down for a tee shirt 😎
Thanks Norm, you are more than welcome 👍😊
Thanks, Kev, I have this pedal and am trying not to made a low frequency thud sound when I contact the string. You gave me some ideas.
That’s great news, glad that you found the video useful and thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers Kev 😊👍
It's very good. I love the Compander + Ratio Toneprint. It's super versatile for anything. Thinking of getting another Hypergravity to send my mixes trough 2 Hypergravity compressors for stereo multiband compression and I think that's the cheapest way of adding multiband outboard compression to your music.
Hi Nikolay, great to hear from you and huge thanks for taking the time to comment on what is a great compressor.
Love your idea using two as an alternative way of adding multi band compression and let me know how you get on?👍
If you haven’t already, please take the time to subscribe which would be hugely appreciated. Thanks again. Kev
Hey Nikolay, are you a TC elecronics rep ? you seem to comment on other videos as well in favour of Tc electronics ....Just got here from another couple of videos and saw your comments on TC electronics on them too. Do you try other pedals or just Tc electronics only ? I found it strange that you mentioned that 10 of your pedals were tc only on the other video
I picked up one used in a trade recently. I've noticed there's a slight "delay" when turning the knobs for example "when a knob is turned the volume does increase but it takes a second after the nob is turned" would anyone happen to know if this is normal?? Thanks!
Hi Danny, it’s normal as mine does it too. 😊👍
was ;looking at the TC sample sustain pedal...........this seem s almost like it ?
Hey Scott, I’ve never used one but it does sound similar. Cheers Kev 👍😊
Why do we have to put up with “what is a compressor and do I need one?” on every compressor review???
Black Strat, White Pickups, Compressors... OK... I know where this guy gets his inspiration.
Bang on my friend…one of my favourite inspirational guitarists of all time. 😊👍
Guys make sure to turn your sustain down! It’s better at subtle settings and will still add plenty of sustain, if you turn it up too much it will give you noise!
nice overdrive tone, what’s that?
Thankyou. Its the natural tone of the Laney IRT60 Head, using the in built preamp which has been directly fed into my recording software. The only change in the past few months is that I now record using the same set up, but using a microphone which makes it sound more natural. Hope this helps and thank you for taking the time to comment. Regards Kev 👍
Works on bass?
Not tried it on bass, but I do have friends who play bass who use compression pedals in their signal chain. Hope this helps? 👍
Dura esa muñeca para funkear
I ate something else before listening to Gilmore...far out, man
A compressor would have to be faulty or ridiculously badly designed to "have" noise.
People.. if you read comments saying a compressor is "noisy" just disregard that person's appraisal, as they clearly don't have the knowledge to give you worthwhile advice.
