Wonderful dear..

People like Nina deserve person of the year award. Not Greta thornberg for writing a tweet.
Also this medical staff can get the award too.
After 35 yrs what happened to her kidney? (Meds) and the other patient. Will he/she toletate meds with just one kidney? Great gift.
The kidney I donated was a healthy kidney - I underwent the same standard living kidney donor evaluation as those not living with HIV. I passed all their tests. Some people living with HIV have kidneys removed for clinical reasons (cancer, etc.). My kidney removal was just elective for donation. Also people living with HIV have received kidney transplants since the early 2000s using organs from donors that did not have HIV; with one functioning kidney, these patients have just as good an outcome as transplant recipients not living with HIV.
@@ninamartinez2422 I always assumed that you would need both kidneys because of the medications you were on. Can you take bipolar med's if your taking HIV med's? You look really familiar, were you on Jennifer Vaughn's channel on an interview? She's from 🎅 Cruz CA? 🤔
Why so negative to the element? It is well done by her to help another donate a kidney
You are great
God bless you🙏so much respectively 🙇♀️
Thanks to her
Congrats Nina
God bless you! Long live 😘
From HIV positive to Negative . Wow am so happy
Really how?
Great I love her
Just when I thought it had ended, Allah saved me from this deadly disease called HIV with the help of dr odibo, I was giving a second chance to life again, you can also contact him for related cases like Hepatitis B and other related infections on UA-cam
I think it's sends out a message that says hiv meds work so well at keeping you alive you now don't have to worry, and i guess we can all sleep around again and have no fear 😱 about dying from AIDS ☠️like back in the 80s
Them doctors must get a lot of money for this, because y'know, it ain't just blood.

I'm curious how the doctors did the transplant, wouldn't that be incredibly dangerous for all the surgeons involved? Did they use robots to do everything, or did they just wear extra protective clothing?
Not dangerous. Surgeons don't mix their blood with the patients lol. Also did you know you can be in relationships with hiv+ people and not catch it by taking pre exposure prophylaxis. People with hiv aren't dangerous we understand so much about the disease and it has been cured in two patients via bone marrow transplant. :)
@@OMGshinyobject It can happen if you get blood on any skin, and have even an imperceptibly sized cut. If it gets near your nose, eyes, mouth etc. No, I didn't know about "pre-exposure prophylaxis", that's pretty incredible really. I actually didn't even know HIV was as treatable as it is until I saw this video. I pretty much thought it was still a death sentence until last night, and I actually do tend to keep up with current scientific events, so I imagine most people don't know this.
People living with HIV who are in care and treatment and who maintain an undetectable viral load of NO risk of transmitting the virus to their sexual partners. We have come a long way in the care and treatment of HIV and people living with HIV can expect to live a normal life span and to everything anyone else can do as long as they take care of themselves.
As a women living with HIV 34 years, I have even had restorative cosmetic surgery. There is no risk to the surgeons or nurses. Providers use universal precautions with all their patients, working with someone who is living with HIV is no different. You cannot get HIV from touching someone. HIV dies when it hits the air. Science rocks.

@@jscix hey dont feel bad for not knowing, I'm a biochemistry research assistant part time and work in pharmaceuticals the other part time so it's tangentially something I would know about more than the average Joe. It's so so important to remove the negative stigma that surrounds HIV, a tream of surgeons on prophalyxis and sterile technique would be exceptionally safe but even the average Joe who sleeps with someone who is HIV+ who keeps up with their treatment is also at extremely low risk. Direct acting antivirals didn't exist in the 80's and 90's which is why the virus was much more serious to have back then.
A person with hiv doesnt need a a kidney with hiv i dont understand
A.J Wyatt nobody except someone with hiv would give up their perfectly uninfected kidney to someone with hiv.
@@sem9165 this is untrue. People with HIV have been transplanted using organs from donors not living with HIV since the early 2000s.
@@ninamartinez2422 Where is the hospital now?
You have been much more to me than just a doctor. You have been my therapist, supporter, friend, well wishers and angel in disguise.Thank you so much Dr emuakhe for all you've done for me,you totally restored back my health...........,.....
May God bless the donor!
Thanks you sir
Don’t sleep around with multiple partners 2020?
Super Nice Girl
Wouldn't the recipient end up superinfected?
does Nina Martinez have an Instagram I would love to add her on my page
Yay for health
Is it real?
Hi Kimsay, this is a real transplant we did at Johns Hopkins.
India
I wouldn't go anywhere near any that has hiv keep away. I keep myself isolated.
You’re a shit Dr.
I'm glad to hear that, because they don't need your negativity or whatever illnesses YOU may be carrying. Stay far away.
@Jhovan Gwapo yes, they do!
Hope jesus has mercy on you when you desending to hell
So not only does all of the organ has to match but the strain has to match
That’s intense
Two misconceptions here: 1. paired kidney exchanges and incompatible kidney transplant programs make matching not a requirement in transplantation. 2. In HIV-to-HIV transplantation, the HIV doesn't have to be matched, but donors and recipients are grouped together by their treatment regimen to ensure that the recipient's treatment regimen can control the donor's virus if transmission occurs.
