I think if Cliff had been about it would have been a very different album all together, all though this was my entry point for Metallica like so many people, I want to hear a version of this with some odd pauses, time signature changes, and some odd classical inspired melody section over the pre-chorus on the bass. Jason was a good solid bassist, but he had a thankless job coming after Cliff
@@sIXXIsDesigns oh absolutely, this period of Metallica was a huge shift without Cliff's contribution, and I wouldn't want to get rid of this version, but to peak into the mirror universe where Cliff hadn't died and the shift in production on the Black album would be an amazing thing to hear. Strangely though neither Cliff nor Jason ended up being a big influence on my own style, though I am going back and going through some of the master of puppets era stuff to try and add some of Cliff's melodic patterns into my tool box.
