      Thank you....I-81 is Truck-a-palooza and they drive too fast, tailgate, and are on the road too long! It is a nightmare on a good day. And they have raised the speed limit on these highways to 70 mph which means everyone is going 80+ while checking their phones.

    I can still remember an incident that happened over 30 years ago, myself and young daughter on I80, a sudden complete white out, I immediately slowed down, there had to be a dozen or more semis, that did not slow, within a couple of minutes, there was a crash, I had pulled off the road and stopped, 23 vehicles involved. If you've ever been caught in a "white out" you know it's a terrifying helpless feeling. You look for exits you can't see or find. You are petrified to keep going because it's as though there's a white sheet draped across the windshield. You also realize that you can't stop knowing anyone behind you will plow into you. common sense is if you cannot see in front of you while driving in fog, you slow down not to mention black ice and snow conditions. All vehicles attempted to stop at last second, but it was too late since their speeding was too fast to control. There should be driving assist driving radar on cars that would slow vehicles down until we have autonomous cars driving themselves. Mankind invented Ai but somehow we lapse more often than usual to stupidity. Sorry for loss of life, because it was preventable with simple common sense as usual. Trying to save 15 minutes on a trip costed 3 peoples' lives, sad and pathetic at the same time. RIP three victims.

    Do we all remember the old days? No antilock brakes, no all wheel drive, forget driver assist automatic braking. They drove in the same weather conditions on the smaller highways, with poorer tires, REAR WHEEL DRIVE ONLY !! but they did it at a much slower speed. It's pretty simple. Think of yourself driving in these conditions on bias- ply tires ,drum brakes !!! I remember when the Highway Patrol would escort drivers through really bad areas, usually at 15-20 mph, or simply close down the Highway till the weather improves enough to Plow the roads , and lots of people used tire chains. But of course we didn't use fossil fuels to power our vehicles then because it would impact the climate, UH-HUH sure. Global Warming ?? Really.

    Too often its truck drivers driving way too fast on the interstate. They think they are invincible and got to get that load to its destination on time cuz its about $$$$. I see it all too often. Car traffic going 30 mph and big wheelers come barreling down the freeway at 60 mph, kick up snow in your car windshield, making visibility poor from your vantage point because they sit above your view and can see fine. I hug the shoulder because I see these idiots hog the road on I80 in the panhandle of Nebraska. Doesn't surprise me with the truck pile ups. You can never blame the truck drivers because they're just doing their job. The faster they go the less likely they are going to have to operate with two log books. And you're not really speeding unless you get caught. So with this being said you're more likely to get a fine running two log books than getting a speeding ticket.

    She's wrong! The cause of the accident is incorrect driving for conditions! Snow is just snow...it happens all the time in March!

      @@KarenBart you're making assumptions without knowing facts. Yes, speed could be a cause.. there are alot of other factors too that you don't know. But just keep making assumptions. Speed isn't always the cause.

    • @KarenBart
      @KarenBart 2 роки тому

      This isnt the first pile up like this... and 99% of the time it is discovered speed is to fast for the conditions... if cars were traveling at half that speed you wouldnt see over 50 vehicles involved. Try watching the video taken by the guy with his cell phone and just watch how fast the tow truck was going that took out his charger. Its usually a wonder that it doesnt happen more often up here in Maine

    • @penguin8711
      @penguin8711 2 роки тому

      @@KarenBart so you want everyone to drive at 35 mph. Right. Ignoring the sudden weather conditions, distracted drivers are often causes of accidents, not only speed, but I guess you know all the facts in this case and every other one, so no point in arguing.

    I hit snow & fog basicly white outs myself a lot.. 1st sign low visibility slow down turn on emergency lights and start praying. When driving I wish everyone would stay alert & don't fool with your blame phone driving. Must use your phone pull off highway to a rest area or store. Side of road is very dangerous good place to be your last time beside the road.

    Too many tractor trailers on the roads. At one time this country had a complete (private) rail system. Tough to compete with a taxpayer funded US highway system. Interesting how all railroad equipment, wheels and rails are 100% recyclable.

      WELL, AFTER WWII, THAT GOT CHANGED. VARIOUS BIG BUSINESS GROUPS DIDNT WANT THE RAILROAD TO CONTINUE IN THIS COUNTRY, SO THE MORE MONEY WAS PUT INTO THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY AND EISENHOWER'S PET PROJECT...THE INTERSTATE HWY SYSTEM. DONT GET ME WRING, IM GLAD WE HAVE IT, BUT IT IS DUE AN OVERHAUL ALONG WITH OUR POWER GRID. SO ALL YOU YOUNGSTERS DIG DEEP, CAUSE WE SURE NEED YALL TO GET THESE PROJECTS DONE!!

    Yeah when you wear cables it's like hella extra grip on the ground and you don't slide at all because I've used them before and they're made for black ice or driving on ice so you don't slide or slip at all you get a whole bunch of traction only bad thing is you can only go like 15 to 20 miles an hour
