I have just recovered from a cold that last 3 weeks!! which was killing me !!This is video is right on point and helpful as most of their fitness topic, although i knew i had to rest more eat well and lower my work out intensity (and i did all of that), but i just could not stay outside of the gym once i feel a little better. I have learned my lessons...
Jose Arce I gained 5 Kilo in 5 days from eating like a 🐷 when I was sick but I think is just water retention and food weight but I ate like 3 to 4000 kcals lol
i try to get as near to my normal caloric intake but i’m almost always 200-400 calories away because my appetite has decreased and i’m doing little to no exercise
I usually try to exercise a bit even if i am sick, and my body usually feels like hell at first but i feel immediately better the next day, I do bodyweight exercises at home
I haven't finished this vid yet but when I got a cold (Horrifying throat couldn't talk) and I went gym 2 days in my recovery and my god I felt weak as hell and just stopped after the first set, Rest up guys
Thank you for the video. I was really congested last week and was curious when I was working out. What I did find is that my congestion seemed to clear pretty much as soon as I started. I did heavy weight barbell exercises and some other things like pullups and dips. Really cleared me up there for a bit, although when I got home after a couple of hours I was right back to where I started
tashindoblades The legend Frank Zane said once that bulking is bullshit. After losing fat and water you end pretty much at the same place where you started. He said its the best to put no more than 5lbs of raw muscle a year. this way you will have solid gains all your life (if training ofcourse).
He didnt mean that. He meant, if you prolong your sickness, if it is something serious, you might end up being sick for a really long period of time and actually lose gains. And the second one is when you miss a workout, you 'lose out the potential gains of that specific workout'
I VERY rarely get sick, but when I do I always work out. I feel so much better during, and after a work out. My sinuses are clear, and I'm not coughing up a lung. And I also do go by the "sweat it out" rule lol. I'm not gonna try to say that it's fact, but it certainly FEELS true. Placebo, maybe, but even still, it makes being sick way more tolerable than just sitting around suffering.
I've recently stumbled across your channel and so far the videos that I have seen have been very informative and well presented, I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.

I started my 30 day HIIT challenge and now it is day 9 and i feel Amazing: my physical health increased and i didn't really do anything less on those days. I found hard to do some like jumping high knees etc cause of breath was a struggle. But i pushed through it now I am better than ever. When your body struggles with virus, show it how strong you are
Going to the gym while I am not feeling well actually makes me feel much better. It's like my diseases pause while I workout and it eventually gets back shortly after an intense workout. I find that pretty interesting.
6 years later you might have found out how to use logical thinking for your advantage. Training is stress for your body, meaning it causes a release of stress hormones (like adrenaline) that are known to surpress physical pain. I don't understand how people can't think one or two steps on their own.
@@Oliver-2103 If you're going to the gym with a cold it "pauses" mainly because of increased blood circulation and improved immune system function since the body releases immune cells, you also get an endorphin release which is a "feel-good hormone" and not a stress hormone. Adrenaline and cortisol is not the main factor here so try not to be rude about it since most people haven't read about hormones and it's not basic knowledge, I'd say you should learn about something before trying to make someone look dumb...
Doing light exercises like stretching, walking/jogging, and ballet (So what if it’s girly? It still helps!) should make you feel better. Also try taking short breaks to eat vitamins (fruit, vegetables, nuts, ect) which will help you during your workout by keeping you energized and the vitamins will also help your illness go away by boosting your immune system. After you do your exercise(s), make sure that you get lots of rest.
ive done ballet for 9 years.. it's super intense if your a higher level, but if youre just doing something easy then it should be fine, but dont say ballet is a loght exercise!!
I did weighted dips yesterday at my usual limit with a mild cough and a sore throat and my cough got worse. Still, no regrets lmao but I'll be resting up now just so I can recover. Working out has made me feel alot better tho and helped me get over the "head cold" feeling
I worked out while sick these past couple of weeks and I felt better after the workouts. But it was because it was a minor cold. I will say that I drank ginger ale to consume ginger and ate a little raw garlic like hybrid calisthenics does because he said it helps. So that may have contributed. I only ate garlic one day and had ginger ale at least 3 times throughout the whole sickness. Just small or regular sized ginger ale cans for anyone who’s curious
I kept up my pilates routine while sick with moderate flu and it did make my symptoms last 2 weeks rather than the usual one. The trade off for me was feeling proud of staying on course. However, I wouldn't do it again. It sucks when the mat/rack is beckoning and you have to tell yourself "no"...
I once exercised when I was sick. My symptoms were all above the neck but afterwards I got fever and all of the sudden I ended up in the hospital because of a heart attack. Was definitely not the greatest idea but I guess everyone's different. Might also had gotten that far because I really wasn't in a good condition during that time.

I did some research and it is actually counter productive for you need all your energy to fight the sickness. I've worsened many colds and all kinds of infections many times over. I know from experience it's better to do nothing but eat and sleep for three days than be sick for another whole week. It costs more, it hurts more and it will lose you more gains. Eating properly and resting a lot is enough to cut short almost any seasonal flu. Why would you want to divert any energy from your immune system when recovering?
I just found out that if you have chest congestion it is not a good idea to exercise. I a few days ago I ride my bicycle 116 miles in one day. Since then I caught a cold and tried to take my bike out for a spin and got extremely winded and started sweating profusely....and this is less than a mile out. I turned around and came home.

I just walk for cardio when I am sick. When I have serious aches and pains due the cold, then I will stay away from compound movements. From past experience, my loads will drop from 20 to 40 lbs, not worth it, and you are more prone to injury too
I am sicker than a dog right now with a nasty cough, no voice, stuffed up nose, blowing it constantly, fever, chills. I am missing working out, but know that if I attempted I would probably fall over in a puddle never be able to get back up. However, I do feel like my muscles are getting week. Coming to this after taking a few days off for Christmas to see the family and one of those creatures had to infect me god it’s like people don’t care that we lift or something... seriously though being ill after a break fucking sucks you already took time off and now even more :(
Agree. I usually do cardio or light lifting. Since I'm not a pro lifter I don't worry about an intense workout everysingle time. When I'm sick just focusing on getting better faster. I need to go to work and make money and I can't fully give my all when I'm sick. Sweat out your sickness is my opinion.
I just finished my workout and I am currently sick. What are the odds that this video appeared in my newsfeed as I was opening youtube and talking to my brother in law about working out while sick....I should try the lottery.
I've worked out on an elliptical everyday for 545 straight days, yesterday after my workout I started feeling like I was getting a fever, by the evening I definitely had a fever and muscle aches, I woke up today my clothes soaking wet from sweat and body aches. I took a variety of vitamins and medicine waited until the muscle aches lessened and I got my ass on the elliptical and did my full workout. I definitely feel better post-workout than I did pre.
Its ok to workout when your sick I do it all the time! For some reason for me it make me feel better when I workout and still sick I don't know about other people every body is different......
Well the bit about sweating out your cold/flu seems quite unreasonable considering that glands produce sweat, it's not as if it comes straight outta the infected areas/blood. I have, though, noticed that with some light lifting while sick, I feel much better shortly after the workout
I had a cold a few years ago and i was like... *NO, IM NOT THIS WEAK* and I did a few pushups and blacked out lmao

I just finished my workout and I am currently sick. What are the odds that this video appeared in my newsfeed as I was opening youtube and talking to my brother in law about working out while sick....I should try the lottery.
Thanks for this information! It was helpful!
Glad you find it useful. Thanks for watching!
lol frankly enough I stopped excersising 2 days ago because of my ilness and now I see this
what were these subjects eating while sick and exercising? If high inflammatory and acidic, that's why they stayed sick or not get any better.
I once felt a bit bad because of a cold but nothing major. Went to the gym anyway and felt absolutely drained.
My initial instinct is always to rest #gymlife
Well the bit about sweating out your cold/flu seems quite unreasonable considering that glands produce sweat, it's not as if it comes straight outta the infected areas/blood. I have, though, noticed that with some light lifting while sick, I feel much better shortly after the workout
I always workout when i catch a cold and it usually helps me heal faster.
I have a cold 🤧 and my body is telling me to rest I am resting no use disagreeing with my body

I rarely work out when I am sick, I always get worse when I hit the gym so I drink soup and sleep well.
