I don't think I was great at conveying, I think male MC's personality fits more with the Greek tragedy thematic (tragic flaw as a characteristic especially). I also think the lesson of learning to value other people, memories, and ultimately life, is a little less impactful in FemC route, just she's already so personable and people-oriented, it feels like she already "knew" that lesson vs. Male-protag having to learn it over the course of the game. Just a bit more of my thoughts regarding that~

That's essentially been my experience for the last three years or so, ever since Royal came out. If I ever was browsing on the internet and I saw people discussing what kind of features a P3 remake would have, like modern graphics, revamped SL content, and obviously the inclusion of FeMC, with them also saying Atlus _had_ to give a hint of a remake at some point, I just thought to myself "Huh, yeah, that would be cool," then moved onto something else. Now that the remake is officially confirmed, I'm excited to the heavens! It helps that whilst I really like P3 and joined in other fans in desiring for Atlus to remake it, I never actively devoted energy into developing a tightly defined idealism for what the game should actually be like. So whilst I might sympathize somewhat with the frustrations of the more... _vocally displeased_ fans about the news on FeMC and The Answer, I haven't experienced any major negative emotions like what so many others appear to be feeling.
My summary is I'm okay with the last of FES/Portable content because what I wanted in a P3 remake wasn't a "definitive version", it was a version of Persona 3 with modern Social Link QOL, one I'd be able to recommend to my friends without also recommending they stick to a very restrictive guide so as not to Reverse half the cast.

If they retroactively gave us Psy and Nuke from 5 that be a cool way to change the party members a little bit of give new life and new strategy and even bosses, it also be cool if they added something like Royals Persona traits which could also add some form of new strategy like say Aigis has a small chance to nullify any magic attack against the party like she did in Q2 or something and Junpei/Chidori’s Spring of Life is basically the prototype version of a Persona Trait.
It's a huge shame about the lack of content that portable and FES offer but as someone who can't really get into portable, I'm pretty hyped about it and at least we still get full party control. that new fantasy one ATLUS is doing looks good too
Hoping we get the choice of either romance or platonic friendship. I don’t like the forced romance route to max a female social link. As for the FeMC, I resonated with her so much in my first play through, even though I’m more introverted like Makoto. If she is added as dlc, fine have my money Atlus! Also her exclusive social links are some of my favorites.
I’m one of those people who got into Persona/SMT via Persona 5. My only previous experience with Persona 3 was the OVAs. So a game that basically has that storyline & Persona 5’s gameplay is essentially what I’m expecting. So I guess it will be interesting to see the responses from people who played the original in 2006. When I saw the trailer, I felt like I could pretty easily imagine what the game would be like.
Ehhhhh no, the animes are what you call an OVA, in case you didn't know an OVA is movie/series that's released on on DVDs, the Persona 3 animes did air in cinemas so they're not OVAs.
Honestly I feel like the biggest thing most people overlook when complaining about not having all of the ‘things’ is that just because this is a remake doesn’t mean they can just copy/paste content in from the other versions. Everything is getting remade which costs time and money. If they blow crazy money on doing everything that increases the number of copies they need to sell. And if they don’t sell enough say goodbye to a bunch of future remakes.
Good. If they can't make competent remakes, then the shouldn't bother at all. Persona 3 is "capitalist focus group justification: The Game" which is an explicit downgrade and not worth the effort at all.
Also, let’s be real, I’d kinda rather they get the game out in 2024 and move onto Persona 6 rather than push it back a year or two just to include FeMC or The Answer
I am a little sad that persona 1 and 2 duology, as those need that remake more than persona 3. I mean persona 1 and 2 don't have a press turn system. Also it is really hard to play persona 2 duology without pirating However I still like how persona 3 is getting remade as it was my first introduction to megami tensei.
I’m willing to bet persona 2 will get a remake down the line if p3 reload is successful and also p2 was the 2nd most voted people wanted remade in the recent remake poll atlus did.
you don't get why 3 really needs a remake, it's because there are two different versions of the game that offer vastly different experiences with different content that you can't find in the other game. However, Atlus confirmed that there's no content from FES or Portable and by result the remake is actually useless.
I actually got into persona in February this year so I’m very lucky we are getting this remake because ever since I heard the rumors I wanted it so bad cuz I didn’t want to buy persona 5
I'm kinda in the middle. Ideally I would have a definitive edition of P3 with FES and Portable content. I really like FeMC, male party SLs, The Answer, etc. I woulda liked to see her in this style. But ultimately, like you said life moves on. I read interviews with the people making the game, and I respect what they're going for here. I'm impressed with their dedication to getting the core P3 experience right with better quality of life gameplay. Plus I'm keeping an open mind. I'm interested in what additional content they'll bring to the table.
34:08 I saw an interesting take online and someone said that FeMC kinda ruins the protagonist's arc of Persona 3 bc FeMC at the start already views life in a positive/celebratory light which dulls any development into that mindset that Makoto gains throughout the story. Meanwhile (imo) bc Makoto goes from an apathetic boy to a man who has something to fight for and cherishes life it makes every SEES interaction; every Social Link that much more carthartic bc u experience this slow change in real time every single in-game day on that calendar. Im deff with LadyVirgillia though: FeMC isnt bad at all. Her addition inversely drags down the game's theme a bit. Not to say her social links or unique responses ultimately mean nothing. just a unique take on Kotone Shiomi
My ideal resolution to all that Elizabeth stuff weould just be some fan wank spin-off that ends with all the p3-6 casts killing Erebus for good or something and letting the P3 mc “fully” pass on Seems like it could be a decent way to follow up on that stuff while also not totally ruining P3’s ending
In my opinion, the last thing Persona 3 Reload needs is to follow that mentality of "This game must have everything in order to be the definitive version.". Instead I think they should keep the better aspects while staying true to the message the story has about death, since P3 is such a theme driven story. I really hope none of the character resurrection options make it into the remake.
Since they always add OSTs from other games we'll probably get Portable music but there's a chance they do it like Persona 5 and lock them behind DLCs.
@@thegamerfe8751 It would legit be sad to not have femc and lock her music behind DLC. Although if femc route and her music are behind dlc than its less bad
35:56 To add onto Fither/LadyVirgillia's point on Atlus actually having sympathetic ears and listening: With that logic FeMC will most likely land in Persona 3 Reload as an inevitable rerelease in a year or two. Atlus will never hear the end of P3P fans asking where tf FeMC is. Like we could get Persona 6 news and P3P fans in the comments will complain abt FeMC not being in P3R. Not to say i dont want her (I do), just stating that FeMC fans will become the P5 fans that begged for P5 on switch for all those years. I think FeMC is coming and we will get that definitive Persona 3. Its only a matter of time and who knows? the P3R leaker could leak FeMC DLC
I agree with the sentiment that Ai party members were legitimately fine and worked well when you just USE THE TACTICS MENU. The trailers made clear that they're unfortunately implementing full party control, and I'm sad about it since it was absolutely part of the OG experience, but I'm still going to set my party to Ai controls for my entire P3Re experience as well unless they changed the combat in a way that makes it impossible or too much of an impracticality.
If they did have femc. I think it be a cool idea to have her as a new game plus. Or if anything a dlc so that way you can just say she is in the remake, lets get on with our lives.
I'm also in the camp that says persona 3 didn't NEED a remake, but that's kind of a useless distinction to me, because technically speaking no one game NEEDS to be made. We make games, we play games, we buy games, we ask for games because we WANT them, not need them. I was personally holding out hope for a p3 remake simply because I _wanted_ it (not needed it) since it's the perfect excuse to replay it (I spend way too many hours on games I haven't played before, so it's hard to find the time and motivation to replay stuff). This focus on 'need' over 'want' is kinda emblematic of how people these days are way too focused on what's objective, when in reality most things pertaining to media are largely subjective. Saying p3 NEEDS this feature to be this way, and it MUST include this and that, etc, I think it's all a way of trying to validate your own subjective opinion on what p3 should be as fact. Apologies for being a bummer, bird app will be bird app. Still very excited about the game. If it ends up being disappointing, we all still have the originals to go back to. If it's good, then that's just dandy.
I am also in the camp too but not for the same reason, I don't think P3 needed to go all the way and update it's format to P5 all I thought it needed was just a version that had everything in a single package of FES and P3P which would probably take as much effort as doing P4G and using FES as the basis.
As someone ego actually hasn’t played any version of Persona 3 (but I did watch the anime). This video pointed out part of what kept me away from the game. There really isn’t a definitive version. It also has availability problems. Unless I’m mistaken, Portable is the only version on Steam. If just vanilla Persona 3 was downloadable on PlayStation 4 in 2018, it would have been a pretty easy purchase. But now I’ll get this one
So if this is a remake of Persona 3 in the modern era, I wonder if they will keep the automatic awakenings, I’m pretty sure they will cus they are a pretty big part of the story.
Am I one of the only ones who didn't mind gameplay of The Answer? All dungeons and no Social Links? I enjoyed it, actually. The dungeons were decent and the bosses were a bit more involved and strategic than the Tartarus ones.
I can see them releasing dlc or a new version for femc. If this sells well and Atlus assumes 50% of they player base will buy it, they’ll be more entice to make it. The do love releasing games with add ons. I’ll be shock but happen if they just added it as dlc. I get not wanting to support it cause it isn’t the definitive version you want but this looks more than just a P5 reskin and looks like quite a bit was build from the ground up. So I don’t know think going balls out was in the budget. P5 made a lot of money for sure but they make other games at the same time usually and you have to distribute budget.
i actually didnt think p3 needed a remake at all but im super hyped about this. i dont really fw the answer or the femc, the base game IS persona 3 to me. obviously i wouldn’t scoff at more substantial content being in the game and not having the answer available in any modern capacity is kind of a bummer but this remake looks to have everything i liked about the original game. tartarus (in terms of gameplay) looks unchanged which is fine by me as someone who liked the original game and changing tartarus was the one thing i feared the most lol. it would be cool if they added some stuff from p5r mementos tho, atlus sort of perfected the randomly generated dungeon with royal mementos. also, edit: i think that the answer takes a big poopy dump all over the story anyways so hopefully if they do decide to do an epilogue post-launch, they can do some revisionism there lol.
an Atlus west employee: so what we do with junpei's voice actor given the me too controversy? Another atlus employee: just change the voice actors of the entirety main cast.
@@weepingblade They should hire that VA (I cannot remember his name off top of my head) who voiced 9S in Nier Automata to voice the protagonist Makoto Yuki
@@unicorntomboy9736 they comfirmed the voice is Aleks le who did play the male MC from astral chain and a few other characters in demon slayer and SF6. they both can sound pretty close to each other I think
I hope P3RE has Aigis' social link and Elisabeth's hangout requests. These were FES content, but I can't imagine P3 without them. I just don't understand Atlus not wanting to include FES content. Not having FemC "makes sense" (in a stupid way) because P3P got ported. But Atlus didn't port P3FES. P3RE should've been a P3FES remake, not a P3 remake. Why not have the extra content?
The battle system mechanic is absolutely perfect in FES. The AI, the fatigue, the "everyone else said boring" Tartarus and the difficulity is the real challenge. Many people seem don't understand that all of those is supposed to be like that in a way of storytelling. Goes along the way perfectly with P3's whole theme.
Most people that hate Tartarus and AI teammates started the series with Persona 5 i.e they were way too spoiled and literally disregard anything remotely difficult or immersive/realistic as bad design.
@@qyaruddick I beat the game on hard difficultly on my first ever playthrough while only doing half the confidants and not restarting that much. I really hope that social links in the remake won't give buffs cause it will ruin the experience for me.
Persona 3 is a game that I found deeply frustrating to play despite my best attempt to understand its systems, so being able to enjoy it again in the modern style with a bunch of QoL is super exciting (Also not having to use an emulator with like a second of input lag will be nice)
I wonder if I'm alone on this but, I really hope they don't touch the 1 more system, I prefer the P3FES thing where AOE spells need to down everyone in order to count for a 1more over the P4 one where every down is a 1 more
I personally am actually very off put by the notion that Atlus (and other Japanese game studios) will start appealing more to a global market because that will most likely lead to them dumping what made their games interesting in the first place. Not to mention, Atlus might just turn Kanji gay and Naoto trans to get that sweet ESG money.
They just need to include much of the stuff from Persona 5 as humanly possible, as well as quality of life advancements from P3 Fes and Portable This might be controversial to say, but I don't think FemC will be in the game. At best she will be an Paid DLC Expansion.
Most of what Persona 5 has is either social link rewards that make the game way too easy and you can't disable them or many activities that won't fit in Persona 3 without ruining the lore and logic.
I just don't like the controls for FES or P3P. It's very rough to play even through emulation, I got to the first boss and a little past that multiple times and just dropped it. So I'll most likely play the remake cause it's not built like a PS2 game.
To me the idea of "fixing" old games has always been kinda backwards. I would say its always better to just move on and make sure to do better in the next game.
While persona 3 is my favorite, it has absolutely not aged well at all. The best version of it is a lacking port of a port and you lose some of the features of the original. Hopefully they eventually remake the persona 2 duology.
would you say the PSP ports of 1 and the duology count as remakes? last I checked only eternal punishment which we never got in the west had it as the preferred option
Not agreeing on a lot of points. Both Tartarus and AI party kinda ruined the game for me. Tartarus is just too long, and too samey. It's just not exciting to go into Tartarus. It's definetly something you do only because you HAVE to do, a chore basically. And AI party is just a fucking misery. They bump down the game to the most basic stragies. Even if you use acting presets, you still can't do ANYTHING specific. For example, even if I tell my guys to go all out, I can't even specify if they should attack physical or magical. I can't rely on them. I HAVE to be both a healer and a damage dealer, because in critical situation I can't rely on those dumb asses. I have to do a persona on every element, I have to do a physical persona, and a healer persona. And Answers is fucking trash. AI ruins this campain so fucking much, it's unreal. So yeah. I hated the core gameplay of P3, and I overhated the whole game because of it. Because I choose FES over Portable because I kept hearing that it's better. And EVERY fucking time AI ruined my runs, I thought like "do I really need thlse 3d enviroments? No, I would prefer P3 to be done in MS Paint in exchange for the controllable party". So the whole game basically went down in value for me.
@@thegamerfe8751 you do realize he’s responding to how Fither and his guest were promoting the Ai control as being good. Also there are definitely people who would want that ai party for the remake, I’ve already seen all the purist who want the Og experience in combat and stuff.
@@thegamerfe8751 at the time(it was a long time ago) I didn't know the mod existed. And even so, I was told that it "isn't too bad". And now I'm responding to Feather's podcast, saying that no, AI party is very bad for the press turn combat system.
@@fazzeaibrag Yeah I disagree with him too, objectively speaking which one is better depends on the person and you should have the choice between both in the game which seems like it. Pro tip: never listen to other people about stuff, follow your heart, if you think that teammates not bring controllable is a bad thing don't listen to others that say it's good.
Yes femc isn’t needed to tell the story of p3 but she adds new social links , new music , and even though it’s minor gives a new perspective of the story
man, the fact that theres no chance for the fes/Portable things being added just sort of ruins this for me, im personally not gonna get the game because while yes the graphics are amazing, its just gonna be persona 3. thats not gonna be worth my money at all, hope the people that do buy it enjoy it though

This is indeed what the kids call a poggers moment

I love Persona 3 but I think I will be waiting 2 years max to see if they do a definitive edition like they did with P4 and P5
I am a little sad that persona 1 and 2 duology, as those need that remake more than persona 3. I mean persona 1 and 2 don't have a press turn system. Also it is really hard to play persona 2 duology without pirating
However I still like how persona 3 is getting remade as it was my first introduction to megami tensei.
My ideal resolution to all that Elizabeth stuff weould just be some fan wank spin-off that ends with all the p3-6 casts killing Erebus for good or something and letting the P3 mc “fully” pass on
Seems like it could be a decent way to follow up on that stuff while also not totally ruining P3’s ending
Whatever persona 3 reload has, I won't mind, I'm just glad I get controllable party members while exploring the town and being cinematic
The crossover we deserved-
This man should start a podcast.
imagine including Lady Virgillia as a mainstay, bubbletea, Nam's Compendium, and Nyarly. imagine that
@@moonsets-on_youHello!!??? BASED department?!!!???
I actually got into persona because someone told me I reminded him of the P3 protag, it's totally true lol
@@flabbergastedcattywampus the most realistic Persona Mc since he can just be an asshole instead of the typical nice guy.
Damn a crossover i never knew I needed but hell yeah
As a femc super fan, as long as they give me the option to play p3p music in the game, I'm happy
@@mehdisilini7296 They did it with Persona 5, Persona 4 and 3 (along with other related games) music plays if you are wearing DLC costumes.
@TheGamer FE they did music gatekeeping on unrelated versions but kept the music from the base games
I'm wishfully hoping for a battle Playlist option like how they did it in p5 strikers
Its only a matter of time and who knows? the P3R leaker could leak FeMC DLC
a crossover of my dreams
I agree with the sentiment that Ai party members were legitimately fine and worked well when you just USE THE TACTICS MENU.
The trailers made clear that they're unfortunately implementing full party control, and I'm sad about it since it was absolutely part of the OG experience, but I'm still going to set my party to Ai controls for my entire P3Re experience as well unless they changed the combat in a way that makes it impossible or too much of an impracticality.
Also Graphically speaking P3R could show what Persona 6 could look like using Unreal Engine 5.
@@TheJadedJames most people complain about FES having availabilitiy problems which fine. if vanilla p3 was on ps4 but not FES a war would happen
So if this is a remake of Persona 3 in the modern era, I wonder if they will keep the automatic awakenings, I’m pretty sure they will cus they are a pretty big part of the story.
It would be nice if manual skill inheritance was added. But judging from what the Director said, that doesn't seem very likely
The best crossover!!
new screenshots looked sick
Voice cast for English dub is entirely new, I'm interested in hearing their performances.
an Atlus west employee: so what we do with junpei's voice actor given the me too controversy?

Making rumors into true like the old persona games :o
@@thegamerfe8751 yup. P5 especially the Royal version being too easy for me it loses its challenging aspect.
@@qyaruddick I beat the game on hard difficultly on my first ever playthrough while only doing half the confidants and not restarting that much.

i think we are going to be dealing with timetraveling Elizabeth
Neon Genesis Elizabalion
Final Phase Nyx is Minato and Elizabeth

I hope they don't change the music, this game has my favourite ost in the series.
They could be new additional songs for the soundtrack
Atlus is cooking rn
It's not including aby content from portable or FES lol
Persona 3 is a game that I found deeply frustrating to play despite my best attempt to understand its systems, so being able to enjoy it again in the modern style with a bunch of QoL is super exciting
(Also not having to use an emulator with like a second of input lag will be nice)
I think this will be definitive gameplay wise but content wise I’m not to sure bout FeMC or the answer
It's been confirmed that this is a remake of vanilla P3, so no FES or Portable content will be in it
persona 2 needs a remake way more then 3!!!!!!
I wonder if I'm alone on this but, I really hope they don't touch the 1 more system, I prefer the P3FES thing where AOE spells need to down everyone in order to count for a 1more over the P4 one where every down is a 1 more
Look, I will accept Shinji is dead if Atlus replaces the original Moon SL with his.
Plot bla bla bla yeah yeah that's cool and all but best toaster waifu is back and that's all I care about
1:20 Not again
Honestly, with them NOT including the Portable/FES content, I feel like this remake has no point.
They just need to include much of the stuff from Persona 5 as humanly possible, as well as quality of life advancements from P3 Fes and Portable
This might be controversial to say, but I don't think FemC will be in the game. At best she will be an Paid DLC Expansion.
They just dropped P3R has no FES/Portable content, shish
Most of what Persona 5 has is either social link rewards that make the game way too easy and you can't disable them or many activities that won't fit in Persona 3 without ruining the lore and logic.
Chidori is 100% unalive, but I wouldn't be surprised if the "golden" ending of this game retcons that.
Ok so like… since we probably won’t get FeMC
Can we just get a Persona game with a female protag????
Final Fantasy 7 🤝 Persona 3
remake manifested by fans
also i think it would be neat if this was the results of someone saving the protagonist from his fate
Ayo
I just don't like the controls for FES or P3P. It's very rough to play even through emulation, I got to the first boss and a little past that multiple times and just dropped it. So I'll most likely play the remake cause it's not built like a PS2 game.
yoooo based crossover!
To me the idea of "fixing" old games has always been kinda backwards. I would say its always better to just move on and make sure to do better in the next game.
Can you imagine if there was FeMC, but she was secret preorder DLC or something lmao
Mf doesn't know how to add a cheat that lets them control the party 💀
@@thegamerfe8751 you do realize he’s responding to how Fither and his guest were promoting the Ai control as being good. Also there are definitely people who would want that ai party for the remake, I’ve already seen all the purist who want the Og experience in combat and stuff.
@@thegamerfe8751 at the time(it was a long time ago) I didn't know the mod existed. And even so, I was told that it "isn't too bad". And now I'm responding to Feather's podcast, saying that no, AI party is very bad for the press turn combat system.

Yes femc isn’t needed to tell the story of p3 but she adds new social links , new music , and even though it’s minor gives a new perspective of the story
