#persona3 #persona3reload
So, it finally happened. After months of rumours and supposed leaks, we’ve got official confirmation that a from-the-ground-up remake of Persona 3 has been in the works and will be released sometime in early 2024. And you know what, it looks pretty cool. As much as I want to do my edgy critic thing where I sit in my armchair and talk about this game with one eyebrow raised the whole time, I can’t. This trailer put a fat smile on my face from start to finish. While I’m not usually the kind of person who likes to speculate, I feel like I’m sort of obligated to for this one.
Persona 3, while not my favourite Atlus game, is a title that I have a lot of appreciation for. Especially in recent times. However, I was never under the impression that the game needed a remake. Despite some of its gameplay oddities and weird storytelling choices, it’s still a game that I recommend everyone play in some form. For me personally, I’m more impartial to Persona 3 FES on the PlayStation 2. While it’s not the most accessible version of the game, I feel as though it’s less conventional ideas give this game a unique identity that you can’t find anywhere else. The tactics menu is a prime example of this. FES is the only game in the series that mandates the use of AI controlled party members and while that might not be everyone’s cup of tea, you can’t deny that it’s a core part of persona 3’s identity. And that’s not even mentioning stuff like the way social links are handled and even the presentation. Persona 3 portable, while an admirable attempt to adapt the game into a handheld form factor, ultimately made some changes that I wasn’t a big fan of. The removal of multiple weapon types for the main character, the reworked fusion spells, and the bonus story content didn’t quite rub me the right way. Though in that same breath, there were some additions that I welcome like the femc and her exclusive social links. A lot of people like this version of the game more and that’s totally fine. I’ll just stick with my preferred version.
Persona 3 Reload Looks Promising. Persona 3 Reload is the upcoming Persona 3 Remake that has been rumoured and leaked for the past few years now. Persona 3 Reload looks to be a great Persona 3 Remake. But it's currently unknown will contain content from Persona 3 Fes , Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 3 The Answer. A lot of people want to see the female protagonist appear in Person 3 Reload and if you want to hear my thoughts on the topic, then continue to watch my video on Persona 3 Reload. Persona 3 Reload Looks Promising are Nam's Compendium's thoughts on Persona 3 Reload and Persona 3 Remake Rumors. @@tomato5049 are you gonna play persona 3 reload bbg
Finally gun-kun
Nah
Feeling blue, drowning, lot of ways to connect water with persona 3 themes
Exactly. Not to mention the sea and emotions are both deeply connected and referenced in human psychology.
It also is because tatsumi port island is a seaside location
And, of course, the obvious surface-level connection between the moon and the tides.
@@_zyphis_2281 TRUE! Can't wait to see the first trip to school in this remake. Where you see the train as if it were flying above the beautiful ocean. Easily one of my favorite scenes of P3.
River styx, you know the one full of souls, the one that leads to the underworld? to hades/tartarus.
I think the water motif comes from the moon/ocean. The phases of the moon determines ocean tides. If you check 5:02 - 5:05 , the water level in the text rises and falls (besides the obvious waves that fluctuate) Love the video!
The phrase "Sea of your soul" is mentioned quite often in the og P3, so I'm thinking it's more of a reference to that.
@@BlackEyedJester But doesn't P4 also mention it quite a bit? I think it's more in correlation with the blue color palette for P3.
@@phantomslay5612 That's true, but P4 has the yellow palatte mixed with the TV static and overall theme of "Searching through an overwhelming amount of information to find the truth"
I'd agree that it's just a cohesive mixture of the blue palette, the comments on the sea of the soul, the moon controlling the tides and the idea of living a directionless life aka "going with the flow"
There's just alot of water imagery and I'm honestly amazed at how well they've tied it all together in this UI.
The Police Station menu isn't all that weird. For P5, Doc Takemi's clinic was a blue motif menu and Untouchables had a yellow/neon motif menu.
well yeah, but as the creator said, they want it to be an elevated p3, not p5 made into p3
@@N0ST4LG14 id say it is quite weird. untouchable and the clinic were both visually appealing, which makes the police station stand out as its just black and red, in contrast to the blue of the rest of the game
my theory and hope is that its a placeholder shop menu being carried over/slightly altered from p5, and that in the final release it will have been changed to be similar in style to takemis and untouchables, hopefully with a blue motif as well not because thats the motif of the game but because if you think of a police station, whats the first colour you think of?
And the gun store was green
@@N0ST4LG14I really dont think having a few shops be a different color from the main on makes it a recreated P5
though that mostly related to the store owners and the color theme of their stores, the blue fits well with takemis clinic room and she has a dark blue color in her hair, and iwai wears green and sells guns with flashy painting
black and red just feels off for a police station
There is 1 thing we can count on

@@2bussy what
@@2bussy you mean… a Persona 3 character that has nothing to do with what you're replying to?
I would really like them to either rewrite or expand on Takaya and the Strega group in some way. Takaya is portrayed as this psychopath who is also very charismatic and manipulative who is able to amass a large following as the head of a doomsday cult. But when we actually encounter him he has literally none of those traits. I’d at least like some development that puts him on par with later antagonist Persona users like Adachi or Akechi
For sure. Not to mention how dangerous they seem at first, considering the protagonists are a bunch of HS kids with no experience of the bad parts of the world, while Strega seems like a bunch of violent delinquents that'd play dirty and have no qualms about mortally wounding/killing those they don't like, since they have nothing to lose. It sucks that the only way they play with this is by Takaya randomly deciding to shoot people in cutscenes.
@@DiegoGarcia-se4on meanwhile their boss battles with most of their attacks doing like 50 damage lol, it really should be tweaked a bit
See, stuff like this is why I'm still really pumped. They don't need to do The Answer or FeMC to still improve on the original game. Dialogue can be rewritten and cutscenes can be made. It's not going to be a 1:1 remake.
I don't trust modern Atlus to write shit. Not after P5 and SMT 5. I think Takaya did have charisma. And he was manipulative with Chidori(?). I really don't want changes or as few as possible. It was already the best written. They will fuck it up. I know they will.
Damn this aged well takaya on reload is a banger
The "why not just play both" idea only works if you have enough time to sink in 100 hours into a game... twice.
Unless you got some terminal ilness, you kinda do.
I feel like a majority of the issues you have *can* be touched up later in development, the menus are probably still being worked on since they're not that long of a task in development and one of the last things to work on in game development, that's why I trust that the combat menu will be better... I hope it will be tho, because while I do love p5's menu, I genuinely do want it to feel like P3, to keep the same energy, maybe keep the bullet slots from the original but have the diagonals be empty while the ABXY buttons are the filled up slots with bullets in them, maybe have the full moon turn into a crescent, where that chunk that's been removed becomes the bullet slots, maybe have an mp3 player with the 4 different options being shown as different songs (this is to go along with the protagonist always listening to music, it's just kinda cool but I highly doubt they'll do this kinda thing)
Or finally, the best one, and most likely what atlus will do *persona 5 but blue* (I'm joking please don't do that, be unique I beg you)
Yeah trailers like this, especially when its quite far out from release, will never be fully finished so I always find critiques in regards to lighting, shadows and graphical effects to be alittle redundant in particular, of course it looks odd since its not completed yet. If you look back at the older Persona 5 trailers its easy to see they still had areas to add the finishing touches too that we see in the final game, it'll likely be the same for P3R.
@@GinraiPrime666 To be fair, I can understand why people are less inclined to fall back on that these days. In the past 5 years we've been flooded with trailers that make a game look unpolished, everyone says "well the game is a ways off it could get better" and then the game releases and there are basically no improvements.
@@TheWrathAboveyeah, but when was the last time Atlus released a game that was broken? I understand praising this means the standards in gaming are super low, but think about it, even original P4, which was made with pretty much no budget and a ton of time restraints, runs super smoothly in the PS2 and, having played it in the original hardware and emulators about 5-6 times, have never encountered a single bug or engine oddity. Same goes for P5 and all versions of 3, along with a few SMT titles.
I'd say trust the process, Atlus has a lot of stuff to be held accountable for, but their games are finished when they release, at least 👀
I think part of the reason why they chose to have an aquatic motif is to tie into the whole theme of life and death. One of the most common ways to treat life is to "go with the flow" and see where it takes you. Water is obviously a symbol of fluidity and adaptability, so it fits this mentallity metaphorically and physically. Oh, and Makoto's commonly characterized as "That one dude who doesn't give a shit about anything", which fits that mentallity as well.
Also, I'm just happy we're finally getting proper hd models for the original shadows, and no, the HD models in Persona 4 Dancing don't count.
I'm glad they went to the old shadows and didn't substitute them for the Demons shadows, hope they can add even more of them, especially the ones that were add in P4
A lot of the game including the origin of Tartarus also take place on an island
If they do costume DLC, at least having Devil Survivor and Digital Devil Saga outfits would be pretty kino, and also remind players and Atlus that those games exist
Makes the most of their laziness
Also acknowledge Persona 1 music for those outfits.
@@Dexter037S4 I personally lean slightly toward the former since they've _never_ been truly represented beyond the dancing games (let’s be real, they don't count), but Persona 1 & the 2 duology wouldn't hurt 🥴 (especially Eternal Punishment since, yeah, that game’s never been properly represented either)
If there is one thing I hope they will change is that you can choose which girl you can date and not force you to date all of them, I hated that in the original where you were given no choice but to date all the girls at the same time with no option to turn them down and just be friends. Made me feel gross honestly so here is hoping they change that but I wouldn’t hold my breath
I genuinely think they'll change that considering they haven't included it in any of the other games (or the FeMC route even) and it's clear that people prefer that system. It's harder to stay true to your best girl if you're forced to date the other ones too
Given the backlash they’ve been getting for making you date a kid in the original I’m pretty sure they’ll fix that (and hopefully eliminate that SL completely)
@Ian Gabriel Wait why? If they do add Femc why would they remove Ken's SL? You don't date the kid from Makoto's SL
@@lick816you don't, but it's still weird how they ended the social link
@@Gafafsg that was a FEMC thing
5:20 since the moon controls the tides and the mc falling into water often symbolizes drowning, both of which are pretty clear ties to p3 as a whole.
I thought the water was meant to symbolise Makoto's depression making him feel like he's underwater (which before was more implied just by him keeping headphones in and his eyes covered), while also referencing them being on an "island".
well that or he's just swimming in the sea of souls, as Igor puts it.
I'm quite excited for P5T actually. TRPGs are my favourite genre of games and I'm a big Atlus RPG fan so the combination of both on modern platforms is super appealing to me. However we've seen too little of it so far and it could go either way. Hopefully there's tons of customization options and I would have liked to see P3/P4/P5 cast reunion again (but I can understand it was a nightmare to make work in PQ2 so whatever). Just quite a bit done with the P5 cast after the 5 millionth spinoff now.
P3 Reload looks really exciting though, I'm really looking forward to dive deep into Tartarus again (or am I? :D).
Fr tho, the Final Fantasy Tactics series is one of my favorite of all time so I'm definitely looking forward to P5T.
Well in the japanese website of tática it shows the pre-order bonus is Orpheus picaro and izanagi picaro, so i wouldn't get you hope ups for P3 and P4 cast
Karen Strassman and Vic Mignogna would be impossible to get anyways.
Strassman because she's gone full Qanon delusional and Mignogna, well....................
Devs already confirmed in an interview with IGN that the remake will only cover base P3. FES and Portable content won't be included, but they'll expand with new content like new scenes, dialague etc.
That'd pretty scary, because Aigis' social link is FES content.
Honestly fine by me. I was mad at first but then saw everything they were doing. Get P3 base right first and I'll be willing to get a rerelease or DLC
@@SteelSpurs Dont worry, it was a translation error, Fes stuff will be in the game, just not the answer, so we can expect aegis social link. Weapons fusion is also gonna be in it.
Things I worry about
- Voice actors for the English cast got completely recast (JP is kept)
- FES and Portable content aren't in
Actually, technically some fes content is actually in the remake. There was a recent interview after the ign one that heavily implies that aigis will have a social link in the final game.
@@Fearmemaybe15 I have heard. Still not very satisfied about the VA change
@@BIastProcX The VA Change was made due to Yuri Lowenthal being a pretty big name now, Karen Strassman going off the deep end, and the Vic Mignogna allegations.
That's 3 pretty big names that had to go, could've kept Tara Platt and Michelle Ruff though.
Water as the source of life and death,
and it's connection with the moon via tides is an excellent choice for the ui imo
or it could just be that cuz the ocean is blue lmao
Water is used as a symbol of rebirth (hence the P3 movie “Spring of Rebirth”), drowning can represent sinking into depression, or feeling like you’re being pulled into a vast, dark ocean, not to mention the Sea of Souls that all people come from and return to, given the game’s themes and the fact that P3 is the closest to P1/2. Then there’s the obvious “Tatsumi Port Island,” and several major events taking place close to water (like meeting Aigis on the beach, the confrontation between Yukari and Mitsuru by a river, the final full moon and both the reveal of Ryoji and the flashback to Minato as a kid all on the same bridge).
It could feel jarring since P3 itself doesn’t use the ocean as a symbol in any direct way, unlike the moon and gun, but ofc there’s lots to connect it back. Just one of those ways I imagine this will be a reinvented Persona 3 of sorts rather than a 100% faithful adaptation.
Water can symbolize change (water cycle and the changing tides). Also, a common motif used by sailors or fishermen in media is that they "live by the sea and die by the sea". In the past, going on a voyage in the ocean could literally mean death so the MC being plunged underwater is fitting.
Water has a big place in Jungian symbolism, and fits the core themes and identity of P3 very well.
Beyond the already explained significance of the unconscious mind (the sea of the soul) and the association with the moon, Jung connected a certain Greek goddess to the mother archetype-
"The sea is the favorite symbol for the unconscious, the mother of all that lives."
If every day we arise from the sea of the unconscious to don a persona to the outside world, and every night we return to the sea, maybe it's a microcosm of certain... inevitabilities.
Thank you so much for the tactica shout out lol. As someone who has final fantasy tactics up there with vanilla persona 4 on my top 5 games of all time persona 5 tactica is truly a dream come true. I just hope it's given it's fair shake by the developers and the community and isn't treated as *too* much of an afterthought.
I kinda disagree that P3 shouldn't have a definitive edition. With how many remakes and remasters there are nowadays, it's hard to find any of them holding a true purpose for existing besides "modernizing" and making a quick buck. Players should never have to choose between good gameplay and good story. I think P3 is one of the rare examples that warrants a remake.
All that a definitive Persona 3 needs to be is FES with Portable’s exclusive features (offering *options* for mechanics that exist in but differ between the two versions such as the tiredness systems), and graphics enhanced to Persona 4 Golden’s level on Steam and modern consoles
In literature and poety the ocean is often associated with death and the end of something. That could be what the ocean motif is about, but it's also possible they chose it because the colors match persona 3s original look.
I'm curious to see what the the dark hour will look like.
Damn, they backported 5's style into 3's aesthetic. Looks amazing. Part of me hopes that if this succeeds, 4 might get a remaster like this as well, but honestly, golden on steam is is enough for me.
@@KrimsonKattYT No way you just said P1 aged better than P3 😭
The Hashino inputs I get, but most of that game does not hold, not nearly as well as P3 does at least
@@KrimsonKattYT Gameplay of P4 being great is pretty debetable. Play through the amazing dungeons of P5 with the fairly large demon variety than look at P4’s randomly generated bullshit with generic shadow blob after generic shadow blob where almost all the later enemies are simple recolors and tell me P4 has riveting gameplay lol
@@KrimsonKattYT Just say you didn't like the game instead of some blasphemy like P1 aged better 😭
@@KrimsonKattYTDisagree on the story. I get the vibe they were going for but every time they did something that wasn't related to the murders or the school (because they really have no choice in that), I just get annoyed. It's why I like P5's story and cast more. They can be friends but they also understand they have a job to do and can't wait around with their numbs up their asses for the bad guys to come to them. It doesn't help that I was ultimately unsatisfied with Adachi either
@@KrimsonKattYTsorry to say it, but re4 didn’t age “fine”. As much as I love it, it’s extraordinarily dated, and a lot of it could be patched up. That’s why the remake exists, to elevate it.

They removed the MCs unique hands-tucked-in walking and running animations.
Bruh moment
You never know because in the original or fes you have to idle a bit before he put his hand in his pocket
Idk. It depends on his idle animation in the original. If you start running when his hands are in his pockets, he'll run with them in his pockets. If not, he runs like a normal human beint
5:18 mmm.... "... from the sea of thy soul I cometh, my name is Orpheus, master of strings..." I think is allegory to the fact that personas often mention they come from the SEA of souls...maybe?..
Persona 3 absolutely needed a remake considering people cant agree on the better version. For a new fan like myself, i do not have the time, nor the patience to play both versions of the game.
It depends on what you’re looking for. FES has cutscenes, free roaming, and The Answer (which is a pain to get through but still important to the main story), P3P has the FemC Route with new confidants and party controls. If you’re looking for the “definitive edition” of the P3 story but don’t mind worse gameplay, FES is currently the best option. P3P sacrifices too much from the experience for it to be considered the same game imo.
Let’s hope the remake can fill that gap, but ya never know.
But FES is still better in that regard, because it has more content.
@@SteelSpursIt has the Answer. Which has a great story but is a bitch to get through. Portable has FeMC, a great what if without the problems that plagued The Answer
@@connorharnage6697 It still has more content, besides, isn’t the point of a remake to fix something that’s bad?
I really hope they maybe do some kind of a reference or just appearance for Minazuki and Labrys two characters that were added after persona 3 (for the arena games) but at the same time really at least for me add a lot or have potential to do a lot for the story, Like Minazuki had relations to Strega and Shuji, it would be cool to even expand all of them further through this even if its just a small thing I think it would be awesome since Strega themselves weren't very developed and Minazuki could be a cool opportunity for that even if its for a small role. Labrys more or less would probably just be referenced but it would also be nice since (personal bias I enjoy her character and her backstory), but I think Labrys as a reference would just be a cool addition/acknowledgement and could help expand Aigis background as a Shadow Suppression Weapon, and how there made.

we're so back baby
I think the different colors for the shops mirrors what we had in P5. Like the overall menu motif was red. But we go to Takemi and we had blue, while with Iwai, it was green. I think it's a cool touch.
I just hope we can one day get remakes (or at the very least ports) of the classic persona games
"Why not just play both?"
"You can like both."
"If I want this, I'll play x, if I want y, I'll play that."
See, here's the problem with that mentality.
Persona 3 has so many glaring issues between BOTH FES and Portable that you can prefer one over the other, or prefer the other over that.
It's hard to go back to P3 as a whole for a lot of people because there are a lot of issues between both of them. That's why people wanted that "ultimate definitive version" so we don't need to have to go back to old games on outdated hardware, or run the risk of badly done ports like Nocturne HD and YOU GUESSED IT, Persona 3 Portable.
A remake is a arguably the best way to go about it. Especially with all the quality of life changes brought along by P5 in the combat and exploration. As well as the fact that the Full Moon Shadows could potentially have ACTUAL dungeons now, and not just running down hallways like the original game.
they say that there will only be content in the original p3 which sucks.
besides the obvious "no The Answer and no FeMC!!!! Oh no!!!" this would mean also the stuff in The Journey.
>No Surveillance Footage
>No Koromaru Walks
>No Elizabeth Requests
>Certain personas introduced P3FES just wont be there
>NO AIGIS SOCIAL LINK
>No Hard, Beginner, and Maniac mode.
>No Desert of Doors bosses from Portable
They also said there will be new events and character episodes
I believe, at least with the information we have right now, that the water motif may be referencing the "sea of the soul" that is mentioned in the game, most noteworthy point being in Orpheus's initial summoning; Thou art I and I am Thou. From the sea of thy soul I cometh. I am Orpheus, master of strings. Granted there's plenty of other referencing tie ins such as Port Island being an Island location, but I don't see as many folks bringing up the sea of the soul.
The Police Station menu doesn't bother me that much tbh. Persona 5 had similar stuff with certain shop menus too. The shop menu for Takemi's Clinic was based around the color blue, and Iwai's shop had a neon green motif to it.
right now what I can think of for water motif is this
1) the moon affects the tides of the ocean, I don't need to explain why the moon is important to P3
2) the association of Water with the color Blue, and the color Blue with depression, a pretty core theme of P3
3) AT the end of the game the protagonist becomes the seal between Erebus/Nyx and the Sea of Souls (obviously the Sea of SOuls is more thematically relevant to P1 and P2 but that is something worth noting)
4) it's like... set on an island, and the ocean is generally important to islanders
Unfortunately they said that the game will be based around the original version of P3 instead of FES or P3P. I can only hope they mean loosely. I don't wanna be forced into cheating on every woman in Makoto's life.
I'm also expecting them to make a new soundtrack, and if they do, I would like the option to flip between the original and new soundtracks.
welp they announced no FeMC and FES content, soooo either they're gonna have DLCs or just be a faithful P3 remake. I'm still excited for it, but a bit less so now.
I want to know if we get fusion spell skills as well, None of that was showcased and nobody has spoke about it.
The red and black store menu looks like the opening cinematic of Burn my Dread.
I think I'm going to miss the gun imagery in the battle menu like how switching between attack, skills, and items shifts the revolver
Here's hoping FeMC makes the cut. Let's make a trade, Atlus. Give us the female protagonist option in this remake and in exchange you can keep 'The Answer' you don't have to remake that at all.
Atlus just confirmed neither the FemC or The Answer are gonna be in the remake.
Well neither is happening
@@Oldernator No way I’m buying this without FeMC, it’s so stupid that they just cut her out when so much of the story is already there. And like, as a female fan it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth that the only modern Persona with a female protagonist is gonna languish as an outdated psp port that’s just an inferior version of the remake.
@@rileyrose5166I mean it may be DLC. Fine by me honestly. I love FeMC but they have a lot of work to do with new events, music voice actors and lines as well as recreating the old stuff. It's sadly not as simple as recreating the story of FeMC, a visual novel character, in a fully 3D rpg. Let them handle the core game first and we'll take it from there
@@connorharnage6697 We’ll see, and I hope you are right. But given Atlus’s business practices, I fear we’ll only get FeMC in a repackaged version of the original like with Golden or Royal

Ahh to casually suggest people spend 200 hours playing one game and then playing a different version over again. I could never be so bold
It would be preeeeety cool if they had best girl femc as well
The combat UI for the actions needs to look like a revolver chamber. It would make since because of the Evokers and would look more stylish. (Yeah i know Evokers are not revolvers just hear me out..)
Now i think about it, the original UI does looked like that
When I saw the pause menu it just clicked to me that its supposed to represent the sea of souls, if not a way to symbolize meeting Aigis at the beach. Pretty sure its the latter tho
i hope i can put this on my shelf. fingers crossed for phys
I kind of contextualized the water in the same way as Shieks quote about time from OOT. With time moving ever forward, not slowing or stopping for anyone, and in this case, ever forward towards death
The water stuff may relate to the Moon and how it causes waves in the ocean when you think about the full moon operations
It's been confirmed FemC and The Answer won't be in it
You're spot on about the P3 mod for P5 thing, the trailer is giving me this vibe as well 😂
You haven't mentioned the title of the game: Reload.
I know it doesn't say too much but to me it feels like they will create new story content for it (and maybe tie The Answer to it somehow?). I could see the Femc as being in the game without being the protagonist necessarily, it would be an interesting way to keep her at a lower cost and make things fresh. Either as a party member or a random guest sometimes? They could do a lot of things with her (I like how she works in PQ2 she's one of the most interesting characters in that game imho in terms of backstory).
It's funny that they go with a very summer-y blue ocean theme for the aesthetic of the game when it's arguably one of the (or the) darkest Persona game by a good margin. I mean the city itself is pretty pop and shiny during the day but Tartarus and the story as a whole are far from being rainbows and summer party.
For the save rooms part I feel like they probably wouldn’t do that at all. I honestly think that they are probably going to do like Persona 5 Strikers where there was checkpoints around certain areas of the map but in Persona 3 Reload they would just call it like they usually would which is just Teleporters. So you can either save your progress or travel to a different floor.
Apparently IGN made an interview and confirmed that neither FES nor Portable content will be in this remake.
It's gojover
i think the water motif is in reference to the moon, the moon pulls the tides and is very much important in p3 overall
Water could be one of two things.
Either it's referencing the sea of subconscious idea from Jungian psychology, this is the likely answer.
But the more interesting interpretation is that at the end of his tale, Orpheus has his body dumped into a river and it flows to the ocean. Part of me thinks it's referring to this, especially with the pause screen being Makoto's body falling into an open body of water.
I'm playing FES on steamdeck with HD textures and it's great! I even use the default teammate control that everyone complains about and as long as you identify the weaknesses the teammates actually do fine. I'll probably play the reload as well.
1:41 “Didn’t quite rub me the wrong way”. Interesting choice of words
for the water theme, maybe its supposed to represent the flow of time? thats the only reason i can think of and it would sort of fit with the whole death theme of p3
My guess for the water theme is that it's tying into the moon theme. The moon controlling the tides and all. Could just be conjecture but it fits a little too well
Something im a little iffy on is the motionblur i saw in a few scenes when running around
Edit: oh and they need to add the Femc, like it needs to happen. Hell even if SOME content from her route needs to be removed, she needs to be playable.
she ain't
You do know that FES and Portable are on two different systems right? Not everybody can play both. That's definitely a lot of the reason.
Dude im so excited to find out what things they changed and added. I hope they arent being cheap with this.
The main thing I'm hoping for is for it to keep the tone and feel of Fes, but add direct commands. That's the one thing that always kept me away from the original.
They already said no FMC, no FES and that going to be OG P3 so that means likely won't be adding anything really new
water was also used to great effect in the persona 3 dancing game op too
I would love it if they made no control over your teammates apart of a new difficulty like merciless
I’m relatively new to persona but for me reload should not change the story much. But rework tertarus by leaning more into the Arcana like how bosses through the original represent arcana such as the the fight in the lover motel. Also it would be nice to rework some of the more dislike social links (ex.moon). They should also keep the mechanic of social links reversing I think it’s actually pretty smart. Honestly the fact this is happening in just interesting.
It would also be a good idea to not lean in to persona 5 much. Use P5 as a road map for potential quality of life improvements and ways to strength P3 theme like what the did with sumire and maruki.
it has been confirmed that this is a remake of the original Persona 3,that means no The Answer chapter from P3FES and no playable female character from P3P,P3R is also gonna have a brand new dubbed cast,i can't believe that after almost 20 years,Persona 3 STILL won't get a definitive version
So, still unconfirmed, but apparently Reload won’t contain content from FES or Portable, meaning that if it’s true, it’s a remake of vanilla Persona 3, and it’s still not Persona 3: Definitive Edition.
“You aren’t forced to play one over the other.”
No, but you still have to *BUY THEM.*
Hence: Super Persona 3 Ultimate Edition
So you only have to *BUY ONE.*
You’ve completely missed the point of the issue.
…as if you have all of the versions already, so the issue is meaningless… *to you.*
Missed opportunity to call P3R SP3UE
As someone relatively new to the franchise due to the Xbox ports, I’m looking forward to see how P3R turns out. Hopefully those who played the PS2 and PSP versions enjoy it.
Imho, no should have to play 2 versions of a game to have the full experience. A definitive version should be the way to go, having the best of both worlds in one.
I played fes last year after doing p4 and absolutely loved it! Don't know if I'll have it in me to play through it again so soon but I'd love to try it out ^^
This game also hits especially hard now since i lost a very close friend from s****de a few months ago, wish i could chat with her again about games :(
My bet is that it will be loaded with day one DLC. FeMC, The Answer, Costumes and more.
If the FeMC is going to be DLC... Imma riot
I absolutely hope not as that would mean they had FeMc ready alongside the base game yet still opted to make people pay for her...
5:10
It probably represents the "sea of souls" stuff that the story revolves around.
aaaand they change the whole VA cast, so much to that legacy eh
why is everyone so offended by this? it's not like they just announced they're replacing nyx with a fat baby or something. it's just voices. you'll live.
Looks can be deceiving. (Good thing can doesn't mean will :D
Sucks that it sounds like FES or Portable content isn't gonna be in the base remake, based on that one statement from Atlus
What do you think of a Persona 2 remake? You would like it and do you think it would be possible?
Modern fans: "There is no Persona 1 & 2 in Ba Sing Se."
@@xenoemblem7"Philemon has invited you to Lake Lougai"
It’s interesting that they’re using Unreal Engine and not their own proprietary engine. It’s probably a test to see how well Unreal can be as an engine for future titles, as well as probably taking better advantage of current Gen consoles.
I think it’s always important to establish a theme. You cannot go wrong with water - multiple forms, rapids vs tranquility, drowning vs giving life, fluidity, weakness vs strength, beauty, mystery, being lost at sea, washing up on shore, diving deeper into the depths, healing, love, anything related to tides, crashing waves, being engulfed, the moon, and BAPTISM.
IGN interview just confirmed no FES or Portable content in the remake.
I understand not feeling that FeMC is necessary but what I don't get is people actively getting mad at those who want her in and saying she shouldn't be. No matter how you look at it her inclusion would be an objectively good thing, as those who want to play as her can do so while those who don't can just ignore her. That's the entire point of games having different options.
I can’t get past the Ai controled teammates of FES & can’t get past the visual novel only presentation of P3P so p3R is looking fantastic for me rn (I was gonna just play FES off my ps3 & just suck it up w the Ai control but I think I’ll wait now) p3 is the only one of the modern persona games I haven’t finished
There does exist mods to enable party control in FES.
@@GinraiPrime666 yea but I don’t wanna have to use a mod for it
Skill issue
@@Blondie_117 Honestly the AI commands are nowhere near as bad as some like to make it out to be. Yes there's the whole thing of Mitsuru spamming Marin Karin but I never really had it happen last time I played the game. Granted its been afew years since I played the game but I don't really recall many issues. I'd say give the game a shot while you're waiting for P3R at least.
@@GinraiPrime666 yeah the AI isnt that bad, and also seems to even get better the more you play, that might just be my imagination tho
My assumption with the water motif is that they're playing off the Moon dictating the tides of the oceans
yo how did you make this video so fast XD
As someone who has yet to play P3 in any form (Portable remaster was being considered but no) but has seen videos on it I really hope the bizzare mood of P3 isn't completely lost, that of the plot has some changes they're for the better and finally that maybe FemC is still there (or in DLC) and music is still there. If Burn My Dread will be in the intro. And yes, keep P5 to the minimum even if it is a wonderful game. Every game is different and has different strengths
Like I'm excited, but idk if it'll be better than the original
From what I hear, it'll be a straight remake of the base P3. So only Makoto, same P3 S. Links (that also means no Aigis S. Link), but with manually controllable party members. There was an interview with one of the devs that basically confirmed it. And we got news as to the VAs in the game. It seems everyone is getting new voices.
Oof recently it has been confirmed that the FES AND P3P content is not going to be in Reload (EXCEPT for the controllable party members) from what's both shown and what was confirmed from a vary recent interview on IGN
I don't disagree about liking both FES and Portable but the problem was accessibility I can't find FES and considering the fact that was the version I wanted to play I decided to try to read the manga but the disjointed storytelling didn't work for me. I was considering buying Portable because of the console port but when I was hearing the rumors about the remake I decided to wait and see if the rumors were true and I'm glad Ill finally get the chance to experience the Persona 3 story
I also smiled and got excited because this is the first Persona game I identified in my teens that led me to enter this universe and not into the SMT. So here are my personal thoughts:
Tartarus - Should be left as it is with the tense atmosphere, checkpoints, and if changed, more opposing and giving you some advantages and new bound strategies ro consider each action. The theme should be either left as it is or remixed to a good rhythm.
FemMc - If they bring her back, that is alright as a DLC for the main story or a Social Link.
Manad, Margaret and The Answer - DLC.
Social Links - They should bring back the original members, maybe add new ones, like Elizabeth.
Battle options - Should be a revolver as before.
Main menu of Makoto sumerging in water - That's cool, they must add it.
Core of Persona 3 - Should not change, make it more emotional.
Full moon days - Understandable if you have to go to the dorm right away, but at least let us hangout with a Social Link during the day.
Now if they decide to go for a definitive edition, they might as well do this.
Imagine if Starcraft Remastered only had the base game on it, and none of the Brood War campaign or multiplayer features. Completely unjustifiable.
aaaaand it already got confirmed to NOT include anything from fes or portable
way to go ATLUS
Why water? Surprisingly many reasons
Tatsumi Port Island
Sea of Soul thingy (I dunno, I feel like this game is the one that emphasized it the most)
Moon and its relation to sea tides (I think the water on "Weekday" increased the closer we reached full moon)
Drowning (symbolic reasons)
Yeah, I think they know what they're doing. At least we can rest assured for now
i would be more okay with persona 3 reload not adapting everything from fes and portable if fes was actually on modern consoles. currently, you can only play persona 3 fes if you have a ps2, have a ps3, or have a computer that you can emulate things on. and i know many people that have none of those things. maybe they could just include the original ps2 rom with reload but i doubt atlus would go out of their way to do something generous
FEMC as DLC sounds reasonable for some people
