@Mary - That is such a correct and powerful statement. Fractured families from divorce, infidelity and having both parents (if not divorced) working being absent from home are the results we see today. Shameful! Everyone seems deceived thinking it's Greener on the other side.

He was 21 in 1966 when the Monkees premiered, not 18...do the math...I remember it well as he was 7 years older than me. I met him when I was 17...what a blessed memory!!! He was as charming and sweet as I'd ever dreamed he'd be. Met him again 25 years later and he was such an angel...I am blessed to have conversed briefly with him twice before he left this world. Long live Davy Jones.

This is a very nice tribute piece. It seems kinda weird to choke up and get teary over an actor/singer, buts that's the way you felt about Davy, like he was your friend even though you'd never met. What a talented yet genuine and humble man. Gone way to soon, but with a legacy of music that will span generations. Thanks for the fun Davy. You are missed.

Incredibly Beautiful! He was so talented! He should have done more musicals, he would have been wonderful in them, but sadly Hollywood didn't give him the opportunity to do so. Thank you for this great clip...Love and Peace¸.◦✿◦.¸¸.◦❤◦.¸¸.◦✿◦.¸¸.◦❤

That’s wild. I had no idea that his show business career was THAT successful before the Monkees came along. And the fact that he performed on the very same Ed Sullivan Show as the Beatles on that cold February evening in 1964 boggles the mind. Was there any interaction? Anyway, it’s no wonder his mother encouraged him to get into acting. Besides his good looks, Davy as a young man simply exuded charisma. Talk about a natural.

I used to wonder why so many young male British performers were so small in stature, then I realized the common denominator is that theyall seemed to have played roles in the movie "Oliver!"

Funny you mentioned that, since it absolutely crossed my mind that that could be a reason why some boys in Britain around that time grew up to be so small.
Even all the members of The Small Faces were small, even though it wasn't planned.
When they got together, they realized that they were all small, so they came up with the name.

@@TheDarkDresser Fascinating insight. Immediate post-war England generation, early Boomers. Come to think of it, food was a precious commodity then.
