  • Another special creation from the Jaydee family! A couple of things to note, the maple fingerboard is finished with the standard urethane type poly finish...I am using roundwounds and it is NOT epoxied! It was delivered with rotosound Swingmasters 35-95 so a little change from my usual strings but wanted to give them a whirl before I swap to Kaliums...

Somewhere in my bass life I had the chance and opportunity to play a JayDee bassguitar at my local music shop. As a massive L42 fan that I was, the feeling and the sound the JD produced was a taste of heaven. I wanted to play forever and ever. What a great piece of art and craftmanship. Btw, I love your videos. 👍🏼👍🏼

Every body mentions the ebony- maple laminated pickups from 80s & 90s were reversed split coils.
But mine has the coils standard p configuration

I’ve had a chance a few times to own a Jaydee fretless which is rare because Jaydee fretless basses are not something that you come across that often. Both times with at guitar shows in Valley Forge,PA. 1st time I really should’ve because it was a great price at $1000.00 flat. Hands down the best fretless basses I’ve ever played or heard.

@@bassjaymi : Let’s say give or take 30 years? Maybe a tad longer or less? I mean my 59’ Burst got sold at a Valley Forge show for less than 15K! I sold both my Moonstone basses at Valley Forge. I had worked at the original Kramer factory in Neptune,NJ. I worked at BC Rich in New Jersey. I went to Luthier school in Arizona with Joe Naylor who went on to own Reverend Guitars. I originally got into amps working with Ken Fischer from Train Wreck and Dennis Kager from Sundown Amps. I ran the Fake Book AKA Real Books on the East Coast and made tons of money! I moved so much gear at the height of the craze that I wish I would’ve saved the bread but we know how that goes don’t we???

@@theirritatedirishman5440 oh yes....times are fun....I bought the remains of this bass from a guy in VA about a year and a half ago...the neck was destroyed....I sent it back to the mothership and they rebuilt it for me...You have had an adventurous musical life for sure!

@@bassjaymi : Adventurous yes but you’re a wonderful player and what I love is how passionate about it you still are! Yeah I toured with everyone that I grew up listening to which was weird! Stupid me saved nothing and when that train ends brother it ends abruptly!!! I had a chance to grow up around some of biggest characters in South Boston and Queens,NY and that train ends abruptly! Now I appreciate the music and gear left over even more now. It’s like anything else, I’ve been into music since I was a little kid and 1 door opened and when it does if you’re into what you do and play your hand right and timing’s right then doors start flying open! To me the Jaydee is like a Ferrari cause play that and then play something like one of those Kawai basses which is considered a “Poor Man’s Alembic” and the Kawai is like a dinosaur! The Jaydee trashes it!

@@theirritatedirishman5440 thanks for the kind words! Music has been my life since I was really young....I can't see life without it...and oh, the stories we all have to tell!! I am glad you are on here and still enjoying the gear and the shred!!
I have owned a number of Jaydees over the years and they are simply amazing, I will play them long before I have an Alembic(and I have played a few of those as well!!!)
