Very interested in this bass. I have a feeling after 3 weeks going by the bass is gone. But if not definitely serious about purchasing it. What's the best or proper way to contact you about it ? All the best
It is a replica in visual only. The neck on the v63 is thicker, the pickups are the modern pickups housed in vintage looking cases....They are NOT close...promise!
Hi, I trust you, but i can’t afford a RM1999 or a 70’s 4001. In 2004 I sold a 1975 4001 with the 1/2 ‘’ neck pickup spacing ( the best one I ever played) owned 5 after that but none have that sound I’m planning to buy a new one 4003s and put a toaster and horseshoe
Id recommend dunlop stainless strings. I actually preferred those to Rotos when i had a 4001 copy. 45-105 but no heavier. Such a badass old Ric though! Its probobly the only old school bass i like and would own. That and maybe an old school Warwick. Those are super special too.
@@bassjaymi do you know if Kalium makes all stainless strings? Ive only seen nickel plated. My hands get really messed up from nickel and it kills the strings fast. I learned the hard way from trying both Dunlop and ernie ball nickel.
wish i had your salary! these are going for 40k in Australia a '64 rm 1999...too bad it's black. or painted? those basses came with ric strings. flatwounds. made in germany. "do not use other brands of strings on rickenbacker instruments" says on the red boxes... right...i've had 4 v63s. 2 4000s [my faves] and a new '73 [my first] and new '75 4001. terrible neck. not at the same time. didn't keep them long. heard all the 'horseshoe' v63 pickups are only on the '84s. then fc hall died and things got weird...i'm re-tired now. all imo... let me tell you about my 360 12 and its exploding tailpiece and what they wanted to replace it. will never buy another. ever. unless i find a 4000. i went and stayed w/ a '77 music man stingray in '81. i do still have the acrylic tug bar and a couple bridge pickups. and a few old sets of flatwounds just to show what one was meant to use. never put 'em on an airplane without a flight case. i'm sure there's a 'rickenbacker disasters' page somewhere...read about Entwistle's and Quaife's horror stories! regards. good luck.
@@rickharper3940 it is currently in good hands in California being played. There are a few others laying around here similar in age, but a little newer than that one. All the best!
I imagine in Entwistle and Quaife's cases, a combination of the nonstandard truss rod system combined with Rotosounds on a thin neck (some could handle it, some couldn't) led to the severe bow they described.
So COOL!!! Nice to se a new Mr. Pinkbassman video. You always have the coolest stuff . Thank you so much for sharing, and being AWESOME!!!
Cheers
Hey look who's back!!!..man we miss those great videos..and that Rick sounds incredible, that Rush 70s tone to a tee!!
Thanks for the kind words!! More basses coming!!!
man i love it with both pick ups! this bass is so cool
You read everywhere that Squire’s Rick was a 4001. It wasn’t. Look at THIS bass and you’ll know: Squire’s Rick was an RM1999!
That is a fact....RM 1999
You still got your 4005 mate? I’m currently looking🕶️
Tis gone mate!
Not every day you see an actual RM1999, nice!
That thing is begging for flats, they had Optimas/Maxima's, If I'm not mistaken.

Tis indeed sold. Some of the other Rics in my recent vids are still here...
Thanks, I thought v63 was the replica of the RM1999?
what are the differences? neck dimensions? pickups? can you tell me more please thank you

I would put Kalium Strings on it if it was staying here...nice balanced hybrids....it would sing like a Piano!

@@garrydhintz8017 Yes they carry all stainless steel strings as well as the hybrids....
@@bassjaymi i take it hybrid means nickel steel. I will be checking them out.
@@garrydhintz8017 you are correct...
Hi, is a 4001v63 sound the same as the RM1999
Thanks
No, actually not even close. They are two different instruments, quite different...from Pickups to construction, lots of variables 😁😁😁
