We've lived in our home 10 years & have not checked for expiration date on the smoke detectors. Just changed the battery each year & the test button shows the alarm works. Good to, thanks for sharing.
Would you recommend that renters have small fire extinguishers in their home/apartment as well. My complex has extinguishers located outside of our units, but not inside each unit.
I’m not sure if this is true in all states but a house cannot be sold if it does not have hardwired smoke/CO detectors that are less than 10 years old - have to get a certificate of compliance from the fire dept or else get them installed (not cheap)

I live in an old apartment complex that was built back in the late 1950s or early 1960s and so I keep a fire extinguisher on my bedside table.
I always check them.

@@LucianDarcWolf google “small fire extinguisher” - they have them the size of a bottle of cooking spray. I got mine at Costco :)
