just a heads up Screaming Firehawks!! we have already watched Episode 7... we went back after watching to check out the open and still needed to be told about the "spoiler" after watching it a couple times. A name in a credit will never cause any kind of issue for us, not only would we never have noticed that but there are names in credits all the time when they are or are not in an episode.
I've always been pretty against folks throwing out a warning for the 3x7 credits. The name pops up in the onscreen credits during Chrisjen's speech anyway, and by giving a warning folks are just putting people on alert for weirdness in the credits to begin with. If no one mentioned it, no one would notice.
If people didn't give a spoiler warning Omg for ep07, then even if they saw the name they'd probably just assume its a flashback of some description rather than a major plot point.
Never realized it before, but when Mao is forced to kneel before Chrisjen, she is wearing Julie's suit from the Razorback. That had to add an extra punch to him, his daughter reaching out from beyond the grave.

@@benjaminodonnell258 there is very little that's in this show that isn't there for a reason. This arm wrestling scene, the missiles Fred Johnson had and even something someone said in episode 4 relates to something that happens in the final episode of season 4. Really great writing!
The best thing about this show is the authors of the books are part of the actual writers room for the show, and it really shows. They make changes from things that happen in the books for sure, but they keep the essence of the characters they created front and center.
It really does. It really does show that they've mapped this out and thought about who the characters are, where they're going and the motivations for all the factions thoroughly, and not just making it up from episode to episode. It's not even a given that you can achieve that in book form, but I think that book 9 is on its way (plus the novellas) speaks volumes that they can nail good writing!
Just want to give a shout out to Clinton Shorter, the composer for this series. The score for this show is incredible and every emotional moment is weightier because of his music.
You guys, go back to that moment when Praxx tells Mei that Amos is his best friend, then look at Amos reaction whe he does that, priceless. This bit between him, Praxx and and the scientist was incredible. And I'm sure I wasn't the only one saying it, but when you guys started this show, we told you that you would fall in love with Amos :)
Alot of the background reactions are great. One that I can think of is when Avasarala is on Maos ship and she says "get to the fing point" Bobbies face in the background is great.
One of my favourite episodes of the show. 'I am that guy' is one of the BEST Amos moments. But also: One of the character introducing moments for Bobbie was her, arm-wrestling her armor, indicating how powerful and heavy that piece of tech is and that she was the only one in her squad that could actually win against the armor. And then, in this episode, this comes right around, as there is probably no one else who would have been able to lift her arm in the armor with batteries low (so essentially a heavy piece of metal designed to withstand gunfire and all sorts of stuff) to shoot the hybrid in the head. And the established fact that all protomolecule communicates, which makes you wonder what distracted the hybrid and made it not immediately kill Bobbie - and then later you realize it looked up and looked at peace because it knew 'the work' had been completed. And Julie Mao sacrificed her life to stop her father's insidious research in season 1, and now it is Avasarala wearing Julie's racing suit taking Mao down, after having been saved by Julie's ship before, showing that even now, Julie's legacy lives on. This episode, and season 3 in general, is so so so so good!
That at the end is the work, hence why that protomolecule hybrid was looking at the sky when he tried to kill Bobby. The work was complete. If you guys remember after the Eros incident it crash-landed on Venus. That at the end was the remains of Eros.
I personally took it as the remnants of Katoa's mind reacting to being outside for the first time in his life. Theres almost a look of wonder on it's face as it looks up at Io's "sky". Its like with Bobby on Earth when she breaks out of her room on the Martian Embassy. After being born and raised in confined spaces, it seems their eyes just get drawn to the sky.
I'm pretty sure he was looking to Venus just as the Work was completed. Also, as Nikki said, Bobby's suit had no power left, and the Hybrids are drawn to power, so it no longer had an interest in her. However, Eros was completely destroyed when it hit Venus. Only the protomolecule survived, and built the Work from the surface of Venus and whatever else, but rearranging it at the atomic level, so it doesn't really matter what it was before.
If you look at the scene where Bobbie and the Hybrid fall to the ground, you'll see one of Io's active volcanoes in the background. It's easy to miss because of there are more import things going on, but excellent effects. "I am that guy" is right up there with Hasta la vista, baby.
I loved how they kinda implied Katoa is still in there somewhere even after being completely mutated. The creature's body language when it was following Bobby, especially how it peered around the corner like a curious kid when she was waiting for it on the ladder. this also shows in it not killing her when it had a chance and how it reacted when it finally noticed it was outside. Even the look it gave her just before it fell over dead. So in a way, Strickland was right, that genetic defect did give them a degree of control.
I love that although Amos has no issue with killing bad people he knew it would change Prax. You don't come back from that it is a life changing moment. So had took that for Prax. "You're not that guy"
Amos always seems to be very aware that he isn't at all like other people. And while he's not really expressing it much, he doesn't seem to think that being the way he is is a good thing.
Just a quick note on the battle between Bobby and the Hybrid - remember they are on Io, which has less mass (and thus gravity) than earth's moon - she's working again only 10% or so of Earths gravity, so she could leap pretty far even without the suit, and the impact of the fall is not so hard. Its the powered down suit she has to struggle with.
24:10 Not just that he saw her, but saw her wearing Julie's spacesuit from Julie's ship the Razorback. Talk about getting hit with his past and mistakes in the biggest way.
The biggest thing missing from this Bobbie / Hybird fight is the context of how she wins, tactically. This is covered well in the book. She ruminates on the details over and over about what happened in the first fight, and uses everything she's learned since then to come up with a strategy.
Her final move was somehow forshadowed in the first episode she appeared In one scene she arm-wrestles with an empty armor and wins. Meaning she could be stronger than the strenght enhancer of the armor and move her arm despite her powered down suit

"I am that guy" , the line that launched a thousand t-shirts, and much love for Wes. The Emmys etc really dropped the ball ignoring this show. But *we* know 😉. I hope you followed the advice and skipped credits to next episode, but wow. Book 2 was great, how they packed book 3 into the next 7 episodes I never know. Fantastic.
Meeting Wes Chatham, and him autograph to me reading "YOU are that guy!" was awesome. And making him laugh by commenting that a couple minutes after "I am that guy" to "What the fuck is that?" while making cereal for a bunch of kids was a whiplash moment.
"This is Amos. He's my best friend in the whole world." 19:20. And he proves it right here, by *not* allowing Prax to learn how to murder. Prax is not that guy. Amos is.
@@Yora21 No, the weakest is the first 5 chapters of season 4, the ganymede part is elevated by the fact that it is deeply connected with the overarching plot, and also because it has an emotional throughline that works.
Season 3 episode 7 is my favorite episode. Perfect intro with steady beat throughout and finishes with the most epic crescendo. Just had a good Rhythm to it.
I think the word you're looking for is, "re-purposed." The proto molecule re-purposed Eros, the ships & drones, etc. in order to create something new. What that is, well, you wouldn't guess it if you had all year. Can't wait to see your reaction when you do see what's coming! 🤘😎😁💚
Seems the aliens that designed the protomolecule hadn't realized that "purpose" is a myth while utility is not. I can use a hammer to slam nails into a wall, put on the floor to stop a door from closing, put on papers so they don't fly off with the wind or scratch that hard-to-reach spot on my back and I can use a rock I just found on the ground to slam nails into a wall. Or then again, could just be Katoa's mind translating best it can. *shrugs*
Amos sees the world in black and white no grays, he stopped Prax from shooting that guy so he could remain 'good' in his eyes. Amos is the best murder bear a person could have as a friend.
Thank you Nikki, you and I are on the same wavelength. Everytime I see that scene, when the proto molecule device leaves Venus. I think of a pimple that's about to pop. Gross but... yeah😁 My favorite scenes from this episode are, when Prax calls Amos his bestfriend in the whole world ♥️ When Amos said, I am that guy. So badass 😛Then Naomi and Holden reuniting ❤❤. Side note, I wish I had an ass like Naomi's😁 Bobby, kicking ass and taking names and just the episode on a whole was fantastic.😊 Can't wait for next episode. It just keeps getting better and better🙆🏽♀️
I love that it’s like, “OK, both of our fleets have torn each other apart, and Venus just birthed this unknowable monstrosity - what do we do about THIS?!”
Nikki: "I think somebody else needs to do it for him [Prax]." Me: The Protomolecule on Eros attacked only organic beings (humans). But we see it infecting the electronics of the Agatha King. I think it learned to make that jump from the electronics implanted in the spy Kenzo (remember how specifically interested it was in Kenzo). Errinwright still went out like a boss. Nikki: "Go for the head! Get the head!" Me: Did you notice how they popped the sweat out on Prax's head as he realized he needed to kill Strickland? But here is the thing: I believe Amos needed to know Prax's decision that Strickland must die before he could feel justified in saving Prax from doing it himself. Amos is the sin-eater. There has been discussion of why Proto-Katoa was distracted. Was it because he saw the Work was completed? Or was it because enough of Katoa remained for him to be awed by being out in the open? Notice that when Bobbie shot his brainstem, blood splattered, so there was still some "Katoa" in there. Think back: Has Fred Johnson ever done anything dishonorable? He was a good bet. BTW, the original novel writers are in the screenwriting room. Although they have to change it for television, they know where they're going and they keep it on track.
I'm binging your reactions and I can only imagine what your emotional state was during the later seasons. this is the best sci-fi franchise. seriously. *The*. *Best*. Dominique Tipper should have gotten a best actress award for season 5. (and a bunch of other cast should have been nominated or won for other seasons)
Quality storytelling at it`s best! Thanks to Daniel Abraham und Ty Franck. They created such a masterpiece of story with moments and characters so iconically and unforgetable. Or for this episode and in four words ... I am that guy! And Steven is totally right by saying that this story will never let you down when it comes to taking everything on the next crazy level ;)
Whew just finished. I knew what was happening but I STILL got nervous lol. I feel ya Nikki, on your comment about meeting the cast. I had the opportunity to see them at SDCC last year but I didn't know they were ALL there until AFTER the panel was already over!!! :( : ( : ( (Funny enough I missed it because I was waiting in line for The Expanse s4 content in a different area)
LONG time watcher of your episodes and embarrassed to say, just a recent subscriber. This is my first comment but I laughed so much I had to comment. 20:25 Nikki: I kept them in, I kept the tears in! *long pause* Steven: I got sweaty. *DYING*
Oh, man. This episode. I don't understand how this doesn't have every award out there, but anyway... That thing at the end is HUGE. For scale, Venus is just about the same size as Earth, so that blue death star is like continent sized. I was in stitches when Steve said "What the fuck is that?" 5 seconds before Amos did. You think it's been bonkers up to now, you have no idea. The run from here to the season finale... You're gonna need some next-level self control not to binge this all the way to the end.
As ive said, there are certain episodes and scenes that i am looking forward to y'alls reaction to. Prax and Amos rescuing the kids, the reunion with Prax's daughter, and 'I am That Guy" is right near the top.
Don't forget, this series comes from BOOKS! And the original writers are writing for the show too. Of course the actors bring it to a whole new level. The actor playing Amos spends a lot of time thinking about Amos and why he does things. The main cast players run lines on the weekends on their own time. It's why I love having the DVDs, great bonus materials and insights.
I love an episode where Steven says “I got sweaty”. You know it’s a banger if he’s said that. They’re few and far between but when stevens sweaty? Shits going down.
The look on Amos' face when Prax says the best friend line is absolute gold. Pretty sure he had never heard anyone say anything remotely similar about him. For real, I want to meet the writers of this show and have their babies.
So, this episode is the official ending to 'Introduction to the Protomolecule'. From this point on, the real story begins, and it's going to blow your mind. All of human history is but a drop in the ocean.
yess!!! gets goooo, been wating for this episode just to see the reaction!! one bit that almost everyone overloks is the first time we meet Bobbie she's armwrestling on of the power suits..and beats it, that's how she's able to lift her arm in the busted suit, brute martian strength! :)
I love you guys! I have seen the series a few times now, and watching your reaction videos allows me to re-watch for the first time and have the experience of watching it with friends, and the Screaming Firehawk Community! So much fun, thank you for doing what you do and taking us along for the ride! I love how Nikki called the line, "I am that guy!"
Have been waiting to see your reaction to this one. Such a great, great episode. And it gets even better. You guys rock, my wife and I always look forward to your reactions. And thanks for taking on Ozark...that fucking show 👌🏻👊🏻
I never noticed before but I think its intentional and symbolic that Mao kneels before Avasarala as she is wearing Julie's flight suit. He failed. Even in death, Julie won.
Have no worries about Mei. Strickland told Mao he was limited to one subject at a time due to Protomolecule supplies being so short. And we saw Mei's first blue goo injection halted by Rocinante landing on the roof. From that point on both Mao & Strickland were too focused on protecting their own worthless hides to indulge "scientific curiosity."
Amos did a very loving thing for his friend Prax. He knew it would hurt Prax to do what needed to be done with Strickland, and he knew that it wouldn't affect him in the slightest. That scene is an incredible payoff to all of the scenes between Amos and Prax during season 2 and 3. And you know what Amos is going to say, but when he says it is so perfect. Just an amazing moment of character payoff after 3 years of development, especially after the scene 2 episodes ago where Amos shows up after the attempted takeover of the Roci is already resolved before he gets there. So good! Next episode is a massive status quo change and it's gonna be fun to watch your heads spin with all of the new characters and the new location they are all headed to. Get ready, if you thought this season was crazy you haven't even seen crazy yet. An entire book in the last half of this season! Let's go!
This is perhaps the greatest single episode of television in history. That this show maintains such a level of quality is a real testament to the showrunners, who crucially are the authors of the source material.
I have been waiting 2 1/2 seasons worth of reviews for you two to get to this episode! Finally! Love seeing people enjoy this episode. Amos IS that guy! Just love this show so damn much.

@@sotirmilivojevic6233 What do u people even mean by "going woke" 🤦♂️
So delighted Nikki and Steven enjoy this show. It's a blast watching the reactions.
This is probably my favourite episode of the Expanse. Smacks me over the head with emotions everytime.
Remember those contests Bobbie had with her mech arm? Paid off.
"This is Amos. He's my best friend in the whole world."
19:20. And he proves it right here, by *not* allowing Prax to learn how to murder.
Prax is not that guy. Amos is.
Nikki: "Awwww! 😍 Amos on the Dude Shirt. 🥺🤗📝"
He's earned it! 👏👏 Murder snuggles. 🥰
Steven had the best reaction ever to the Venus-thing. You win the internet.
Exact same thing Amos said!
@@SyntheticaYT I think we all said what Amos said. At least I know I did.
This gonna get FAR more intense guys, strap yourselves in.
I felt the Ganymede and Io story was the weakest in the series. Compared to the others.
@@Yora21 No, the weakest is the first 5 chapters of season 4, the ganymede part is elevated by the fact that it is deeply connected with the overarching plot, and also because it has an emotional throughline that works.
One of the most perfect episodes of TV ever made. This one holds up no matter how many times you rewatch it.
Season 3 episode 7 is my favorite episode. Perfect intro with steady beat throughout and finishes with the most epic crescendo. Just had a good Rhythm to it.
That entire stretch, from 7 to 13, is the best television content I've ever seen.
Toss a coin to your Amos!
I think the word you're looking for is, "re-purposed."
The proto molecule re-purposed Eros, the ships & drones, etc. in order to create something new.
*shrugs*
Ever since you guys started this show, I've been waiting for Steven to induct Amos into his Dude hall of fame. Knew it was coming.
I forgot how good this episode is.
Honestly, this one, the previous one and the next two are definitely the highlight if the series for me!
Amos sees the world in black and white no grays, he stopped Prax from shooting that guy so he could remain 'good' in his eyes. Amos is the best murder bear a person could have as a friend.
As soon as I saw you guys were starting The Expanse, I couldn't wait to see how Steven's crush on Amos had developed by that point.
We are going to be hearing "This episode is so crazy" for the rest of the season. This was an epic episode, though.
Thank you Nikki, you and I are on the same wavelength. Everytime I see that scene, when the proto molecule device leaves Venus. I think of a pimple that's about to pop. Gross but... yeah😁
My favorite scenes from this episode are, when Prax calls Amos his bestfriend in the whole world ♥️ When Amos said, I am that guy.
YOU CAN'T STOP THE WORK!!!
I love that it’s like, “OK, both of our fleets have torn each other apart, and Venus just birthed this unknowable monstrosity - what do we do about THIS?!”
I have been waiting SO LONG for you to finally get to the, "I am that guy" moment. And it did not disappoint. :D
Nikki: "I think somebody else needs to do it for him [Prax]." Me:
The Protomolecule on Eros attacked only organic beings (humans). But we see it infecting the electronics of the Agatha King. I think it learned to make that jump from the electronics implanted in the spy Kenzo (remember how specifically interested it was in Kenzo).
Errinwright still went out like a boss.
Nikki: "Go for the head! Get the head!" Me:
Did you notice how they popped the sweat out on Prax's head as he realized he needed to kill Strickland?
(and a bunch of other cast should have been nominated or won for other seasons)
the music when amos turns around is so sick!
Lol love the contrast of Nikki's face vs Steven's face on the thumbnail
LONG time watcher of your episodes and embarrassed to say, just a recent subscriber. This is my first comment but I laughed so much I had to comment. 20:25 Nikki: I kept them in, I kept the tears in! *long pause* Steven: I got sweaty. *DYING*
Amos is Legendary.
He is in the running for Best Character in Modern Fiction.
Amos is so damn cool
Literally my favourite quote of 2020 so far
I got sweaty.
I said it right as Amos was.
And now Team ABC is down one. Lets pour one out for Cotyar. Love the actor hated his character in Spartacus but love Cotyar .
As ive said, there are certain episodes and scenes that i am looking forward to y'alls reaction to. Prax and Amos rescuing the kids, the reunion with Prax's daughter, and 'I am That Guy" is right near the top.
When I first watched this I was surprised Amos gave the doctor such a quick and easy death.
Daniel Edwards My impression is that Amos is not about punishing bad people, just removing them.
BEST EPISODE. Uncle Amos = Murder Snuggles = I AM THAT GUY
Amos is the most significant and complicated person in the entire series expertly acted by Wes Chatham.
I love that Stephen and Amos said "What the fuck is that?" with the same energy.
I knew Amos would make the dude shirt. Called that from day one. Fucking love this show.
Good job guys, with this episode you just finished the "Prologue" of The Expanse. This is where the "real" story begins :D
"A giant pimple. Let's pop it" - I almos choked on my soda :D
How old do you think Mei will be when she goes "Huh! Amos probably killed Strickland in that airlock"
So, this episode is the official ending to 'Introduction to the Protomolecule'. From this point on, the real story begins, and it's going to blow your mind. All of human history is but a drop in the ocean.
::::just finished Episode 6:::: Ohh fucking hell.....
That is the exact thumbnail I was expecting.
We always want to hear 'Toss a coin to your witcher!' Sorry nikki!
I managed to avoid getting it stuck in my head...until now. Lol...thanks. 😳😁

J/k, LOL...perfect timing, I just forget about it...til now, again. Ok, I'm putting my phone away. 😜
Need to make that a ring tone.
yess!!! gets goooo, been wating for this episode just to see the reaction!! one bit that almost everyone overloks is the first time we meet Bobbie she's armwrestling on of the power suits..and beats it, that's how she's able to lift her arm in the busted suit, brute martian strength! :)
That's some B5 level foreshadowing!
One of my favorite scenes of a show ever. Amos IS that guy.
Have been waiting to see your reaction to this one. Such a great, great episode. And it gets even better. You guys rock, my wife and I always look forward to your reactions. And thanks for taking on Ozark...that fucking show 👌🏻👊🏻
I've been looking forward to you guys seeing the "I'm that guy" moment for weeks. I knew Amos would get a place on the shirt.
I'm meeting the man next week. If I get THAT as a autograph I will squee. :)
So glad this show has blown you away as it did me and so many others, I knew you would love it.
So I've been waiting for you guys to get to this episode for like two months. Good team you guys, good reaction.
I never noticed before but I think its intentional and symbolic that Mao kneels before Avasarala as she is wearing Julie's flight suit. He failed. Even in death, Julie won.
If you can even label it "death" in her case.
Loved this episode, but the back half of this season is my favorite!! So excited to see your thoughts on the next episode.
We just watched this and also called it a giant space pimple. Ha ha. Omg what a great episode
So...me and Amos at the end of the episode: "What the FUCK is THAT?"
I started this show because of you guys!
Let's go!
Steven: "I would rip your fucking head off." Lol, coming from Steven that feels like a very real threat.
This is perhaps the greatest single episode of television in history. That this show maintains such a level of quality is a real testament to the showrunners, who crucially are the authors of the source material.
"I Am That Guy" T-Shirt on the way!?.....also this is just the beginning of this seasons awesomeness!
I have been waiting 2 1/2 seasons worth of reviews for you two to get to this episode! Finally! Love seeing people enjoy this episode. Amos IS that guy! Just love this show so damn much.
"Ger de ger, WTF?" - Steven "Turn that into a GIF. Please." - Nikki Yes! Turn that into a GIF... including Nikki asking to turn it into a GIF.
It can the the internets new "Turn that into a GIF GIF." Did that make any sense at all? I don't really speak 2020.
