Red is kind of legendary in Northern California. Some people are bummed by him buying up small family operations but the truth is they chose to sell. Amazing that somebody is still managing to run a business of this type in California at all.
I was walking the Sacramento River behind my house in 2005, I met Red, asked for permission to walk the gravel plant, he reached down from the horse he was riding and shook my hand. He had callouses on his hand a 1/4 inch thick.
Ignorant comments. Simple just like your intellect. I’d challenge you to do a little more for the greater good than watch UA-cam and bad mouth something you know nothing about. Work a few years with the hard working, underpaid employees of the USFS and BLM land managers and come back here, so I can watch you remove your foot from your mouth 😂
Any time you let liberals manage anything it turns to crap, our public land is a prime example! It is all in far worse shape now that the USFS and BLM is completely saturated with POS Libtards, and has been for 40 years! Time to clean house!
You may wish to check out Harold Ford, owner of Roseburg lumber company. Met him in or around nineteen sixty nine. He at this time owned solely the two largest timber mills in the world. He was a great guy who was a average man who made some significant decisions to mill two by fours... check out his reasons for doing just that and how he got his start taking apart old pallets and remaking them into usable units again... starting in his grandmothers basement
Red is awesome. He knows how to make strong, vibrant, useful forests, not the useless, overgrown fire traps created by government neglect and 'green' policies. Wood is an amazing resource. We are lucky to have people like Red and others like him to show us how to use it and sustain it. A burned-down government forest, or one full of emaciated trees, doesn't do us much good.
Self made men are tough to find these days other than a few in software. Real hard work from the ground up….iconic. You need so much support of family, luck, hard work, personal drive, gambling on every move.

I can summarize this video: He inherited his fathers company and money, bought more land and sold more trees, and kept buying more land and selling more trees.
Anna Creek Station in Australia at just over 5.8 million acres which is privatly owned pales SPI 2.4 million into a back yard. Australia also has 8 of the 10 largest farms in the world
Don’t know who the largest landholder in the US is today. Do know that Sir Sydney Kidman is the largest private landholder holder of all time, in the late 19th century and first half of the 20th century his land holding and cattle was unchallenged. Gave most of his wealth away during the WW1, donated whole destroyers. From a boy of fourteen who left home penniless to to the Cattle King is not bad going, the renemants of his empire were sold a few years ago for hundreds of millions of dollars to Gina Rinehart.
Ted is third with approximately 2,000,000 acres. John Malone is second with approximately 2,200,000 acres. The Emmerson Family is at approximately 2,400,000 acres.
A Google search says more than 2.4 million acres. The largest privately owned land in Australia is 5.851,000 acres. Anna Creek Station. Australia has 8 of the 10 largest farms in the world
How is his business sustainable if it takes 40 years for his resources to replenish? Just keep buying more land for the next 39 years and hope you survive to the 40th and close the cycle? Clear cutting is profitable but not sustainable...there is a reason why for both.
You actually showed Washington DC on the map instead of Washington State. And NOBODY on your crew caught that????? WOW!! That is utterly unbelievable!!! Art from Ohio PS: Halfway through the video and I am done!!!
The federal government owns nothing, WE, THE PEOPLE own the land. Well at least until the democrats try to take it away from us for the benefit of foreign nationals.
Where I have hunted & fished my whole life he has all gated now, there's no access to any of it,what a tyrant,it must be nice controlling everybody's recreation, life !!!! What a tyrant !!
If you want recreation, go buy your own-land. when you own the land you can do what you want to with it. I’m betting you won’t want nobody on your land.

It is my understanding that privately held forests are in far superior condition than Government held forests so this company should be commended.
That would not be hard ,if you want something screwed up just ask the government for help ?
Could explain the forest fires on government owned land, California comes to mind!

you just can't let the forest "go" you need to manage it so that fires doesn't start and that trees flourish. Liberalism does not work!

Not that Washington!
Definitely means Washington State, not DC, which is all swampland.
The AI sure is annoying..
There's some old timber that needs to fall in DC

I didn't know there was so much forest land in Washington D C lol
(4:22) The Washington DC holdings must be worth a fortune!!!
But probably better timber resources in Washington State.
I thought Ted turner was the largest land owner in America
Washington DC is only 10 sq. Miles .
Red for governor
LOL, didn't know there was much timber land in Washington DC. (4:20)
The Native Americans? 😮
Interesting but other videos claim that Ted Turner is the largest private land owner in the U.S.
Ted is third with approximately 2,000,000 acres.
John Malone is second with approximately 2,200,000 acres.
The Emmerson Family is at approximately 2,400,000 acres.
4:20 ... wrong Washington. Map shows DC, not Washington State.
Check out Ted Turner.
Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see where they stated the actual acreage. I saw 322,000 posted and the video mentioned millions of acres.
over 2 million

No, Union Pacific RR owns most of the land in the USA.

This sounds like AI, do not waste your time. There is not too many forests in DC.
every once in a wile the adults show up
The real wiley ones.
The video indicated land ownership in California, Oregon, and then indicates Washington DC I'm confident it's actually Washington State
Bingo

Yeah that one surprised me too, need to have a talk with the illustrator and the editor
They operate in Washington state, not Washington DC.
Why
How did he manage spotted owl laws
The AI script writing is pretty poor. Bad transcription. Bad graphics of "Washington" DC?
Why do we fear AI? It's as dumb as a box of bricks.
Washington state, not DC! lol. Brits!
Washington DC? Ok
Yeah that has to be a fupa someone not familiar with the geography of the United States doesn't realize it Washington State not DC
It was a mistake. Just like biden and we had to live with that one also.
They have so much money they couldn't get a good editor they showed Washington DC as timbaland God damn Democrat😮
Who owns most land? Easy one the Federal government. Ted owns a few acres also.
The federal government owns nothing, WE, THE PEOPLE own the land. Well at least until the democrats try to take it away from us for the benefit of foreign nationals.
The railroads own more land
A lot of Douglas Fir growing in DC is there ?
..and he owns all of it
it all died, now it is just dead wood.
NEPO
Ted may have owned the most land at one time but now he is surpassed by China who owns most of the US land now.
Washington D.C. ??????????
