- The composition I play is little known. The main melody of it, though, is known all over the world: it is the melody of the Russian song Ochi Chernie (Dark Eyes).

If I hadn't met you, I wouldn't be suffering so
I would have lived my life smiling
You have ruined me, dark eyes
You have taken my happiness away forever.
This is a Feodor Chaliapin version of the lyrics by the Ukrainian poet Yevhen Hrebinka. The music was arranged in 1884 from the waltz composed by one F. Hermann -- not much is known about him. In some websites he is called a French composer, Florian Hermann; in other sources, a Russified German, Feodor Hermann.
I learned his waltz from a Russian sheet music, where it is called Вальс Воспоминание (Recollection Waltz, in my own translation). It may be that the original title is Hommage Valse.
Anyway, whatever the title and whoever the composer might be, the music is beautiful and exciting. I hope you will enjoy it!

Dice Wikipedia de esta obra: "Ojos Negros(cancion). Ojos Negros(en ruso ochi chornye) es una canción rusa, del género de la Romanza. Su letra fue escrita por el poeta y escritor ucraniano Evgeny Grebenka. El poema fue escrito por primera vez en el periódico ruso Literatuenaya Gazeta el 17 de enero de 1843. La música proviene de un vals alemán Florian Hermann, con arreglos de S. Gerdel, y su primera publicación conocida como romanza (con letra y música) fue el 7 de marzo de 1884".

Hi I'm back you play this 'Dark Eyes' superbly, a masterpiece of piano recital.
From my point of view as a Piano student, this musical composition is really pleasant, nice and exciting.
I didn´t know that its original title is Waltz "RECOLLECTION"" and this was composed by F. Hermann.

Beautiful music, the composer is Adalgiso Ferraris.
+ferdinando vegni As far as I know, the music was composed long before Adalgiso Ferraris was born. He was not the composer, but one of many arrangers of this melody.
Thanks . The base melody theme may be an old Russian tune, but not the complete score, that is a 1920s success of Ferraris, reprised also in song version by Al Bowlly or Chaliapin , who both recorded it on Ferraris music in London in that period.
