After drilling the motor mount holes . I was wondering , why you dident drill out some air ventilation holes for the motor, Are they not needed anymore ?
Hi, no I use a filler that is more structural. www.usfiberglasssupply.com/store/p32/Aerosil_200.html www.amazon.com/Fasco-Fumed-Silica-Thickener-Quart/dp/B074Y6V7QT
I love your videos, thank you very much! Very useful stuff! But I am a little bit concerned about the way you installed the motor mount. Are you sure, that the carbon fibers and the surface underneath is completely wetted with the epoxy? One other hint: When you glued in the Deans in my opinion it is very important that there is no glue at the female pins because they have to spring against the male part. Best Regards!
I do my best to make sure the carbon is wetted out. I squeeze it pretty thoroughly and apply more resin if needed. It's been working well so far and I have built more than 20 5J models like this. You are correct about the deans plug!
Your sand paper looks like mine....used.....lol Do you shorten the wires on the speed controller? If so, do you shorten all the wires or just certain ones?
I like to use a piece of sandpaper until it starts polishing rather than sanding :) I usually shorten all the wires on the ESC if I can. The power leads, motor leads, servo wire, etc... Unless I know I need the weight for CG purposes.
Thanks again for this, Ali. I'm busy building two more Eternities and watching your great building.
Great video ! All of your build vids are the internet’s best resource for our hobby. Thanks dude :)
Thanks dude!

In F5J competition the motor run time is so short it may not really matter.
Also the gearbox takes up most of the mount, so holes would not do much.
Thanks
Hi Ali, Do you use Microballons Filler by Topflite with epoxy for glue motor mount? Thanks!!

Is JB Weld or epoxy better for an aluminum motor mount in a carbon fuselage?
I prefer high quality epoxy. I know some guys use jb.
Maybe JB is better than 5 or 15 minute epoxy.
