I have a 2011 limited with the 3.5 N/A 4WD 300000+ miles original water pump never had a single issue only the ignition coils went bad and got replaced.
There are lots of things that make police cars fascinating to me. They have to idle these cars while on duty to run the numerous essential electronics even when the copper is outside of the cruiser. They all have upgraded alternators too to meet the increased electrical demand!
Did you ever fix the domes to work without the key in ACC? I have the same problem. I have disabled the dark car and another options everyone told me and I am still in the same boat as you!
If you’re still out there wondering I did figure it out! You must enable quiet mode on the instrument control module with forscan. Then you must turn your car on, go into the clusters settings, and manually disable the quiet mode feature. What this does is another layer of stealth. No alarm when locked with remote or dome lights. Let me know if you see this and have further questions.
@@BCeptor yes I definitely would like to know how to fix that. I also would love to know how to turn it to where the park lights come on when you unlock the car.
@@BCeptor I wish there was a way to message you directly. But I’ll try looking for it in the next day or two. The other thing that I’m currently doing is a lot of people say they have put the platinum cluster in their police interceptor, but for some reason when I put it in after programming, the mileage will not allow me to go above 80 mph.
@@waltertaylor9615 It’s all repaired now. Runs and drives great. Water pump and PTU is holding up good. Put new yellow Ford coolant and oil in. Currently at 100,900k miles. 3,7k idle hours still.
Yes they have. Thing is I’ve had it nearly a year. And… it’s current to 2019 so realistically they should have most part current. All of my front end related components are aftermarket. Some dash pieces are discontinued and sold out from ford.
Thats my next vehicle (FPIU) i would like a all white or a red one with a few goodies inside 😀 yasss lol I have a crown vic p7b 146k miles and 25 hundred something idie hours but saving the miles i travel for work almost 90 miles round trip i think the explorer fits me perfectly
@@b566t3 it’s comfy for sure. A lot of cool programming options with forscan too. Something to note is theres a few major weak points in this car. I’ve already had PTU issues, alternator going out, as well as radiator fan quit. LED headlight went out in one side that was costly. Other things I can’t remember off the top of my head.
Let me buy it from you that's exactly how I want my next squad car to be for working off duty I don't have two charges and replaced transmission two times I'm going to a Ford explorer.
The 2011-2019 Explorer Police package were by far the most reliable explorer models. The 2020+ models are terrible. Ive had a few and they are quite a downgrade from the older ones
4:45 looks like monoammonium phosphate, which is the yellow powder in fire extinguishers
Oh that’s not good lol
ford crown vics used to be my fav now ive switched to these as my fav i really love the way they look with the wraparound bumper
@5:38 LOL theres those ticky valves. Change the oil every 3k miles.
Yes sir!
2:05 is programming required to have the remote start?
Affirmative! Unless your vehicle came from factory with remote start. Mine did not.

I hope I’m as fortunate as you are. New cars tend to be unreliable though .
@@BCeptorbuying a used police car is more questionable because those are driven really hard for the most part and they spend a lot of time idling
Hey can you upload a video of 0-60 😊
@@Hello88886 lol maybe when it’s running again. Alternator and radiator fan went out back to back. She’s been sitting for a few months.
everytime I see someone's interceptor video, it makes me realize how much my cop was just sitting around💀 over 9000 idle hours
Tell me about it. Mine has 11,000 idle hrs & 15,000 engine hrs lol 122,000miles
That’s a lot of idling. My K-9 CVPI had 11,200 idle hours. That’s like 2 years of just running sitting still. Wow.

Great video!!!
Yellow stuff is from a fire hose
Its insulation I think
Does the push bar bend the structure behind it. Just bought a wrecked one
@@darrellmyers4156 the impact of the push bar bent my sub frame rail. The brackets hook around and through the actual bumper itself. Hope this helps.

Awesome Ford Explorer ppv, myself I own a Crown Victoria ppv,i enjoy it very much few changes but other than that its all good.
The CVPI’s are amazing cars. I got a really cool one coming soon. Glad you enjoy yours!
Any recent updates to your FPIU?
Change the coolant as required and the water pump shouldn't give you a problem, key word shouldn't.
Big word. “Shouldn’t” lol
How often should that be done?
@@MainADMlN every 20.000 miles or so.
Use Prestone you will be good for 10 years and it also has rust inhibitors.

Where'd you pick up the console?
That's a Havis console for the civilian explorer.
Got it from Public Surplus auction in a pallet of a bunch of random equipment.

Did you sell the few models you had? What were some of the noticable downgrades?
I agree on reliability. These can be decent if you service the PTU and lookout for the water pump.
