It hits different when you’ve taken your car apart and put it back together with your own hands 💪.
100% 🤣 Someday I’ll have a garage, maybe even a lift of some sort. Between my car port, and the 10’ wide storage unit I keep it in, I’ve learned to appreciate how nice it can be to have a solid workspace. Eventually I can’t pretzel myself enough to reach things or fit places, which makes the work I can manage to do interesting. When I installed the downpipe in my storage unit, the car rotated from being jacked up / down repeatedly and the tires were touching the walls when I brought it down the last time 😅
So true man, done a full 114i to M140i swap, LCI conversion front and back, full interior swap, over 150 meters of custom wiring and did even the engine assembly and the first start was so unreal. Drove it 2 days ago for a longer trip and it feels just awesome, especially with the KW Coilovers.
The street and some jacks were some of my best friends 😂. Can’t forget the trusted basic husky socket set. That was until discovering how many extra and different types of sockets you’ll need working on a good “ol faithful” BMW.
Absolutely incredibly story. This dude has a tremendous amount of dedication and love for his car.
That’s really kind of you! It’s a labor of love 💯
Look up Mike Prizza . Right hand drive 240 got t-boned . Rebuilding his car also. Insane story.
And money.. lots of money.
@@R1CKYB0BbY no it works the other way around, if i didn’t have the car I might have a lot of money; But i can’t spend it after I’m dead. I’d prefer the car ❤
@@slowrx Exactly.. you have lots of money to spend it on your car. Or at least a very decent amount to spend on your ride. Not hating. Just stating it how it is
This mini documentary was well worth the watch. I felt for that guy, loved the story behind his passion!
Can I get thumbs up just for Matt being an awesome guy? 👊🏻
Also, I’m sorry for that dad joke at the end 😂🙈
Dad jokes are the best jokes 👻 Much love brother!
👍bro!
I am not crying..you are crying!!
No, seriously... thank you guys for this! M2 has been my dream right from the year they announced them, I was never able to buy a new car, but working hard towards being able to buy this dream car... it's so motivating to hear and see such a story. Thank you!
Love to hear it! Just keep working and you’ll get there 🙏🏻 Well worth it imo!
First time I’ve ever seen this channel and I’ve watched so many of the videos now. Amazing quality and well put together. Definitly earned a Subscriber 👍🏽
This channel is underrated. masterful story telling, production and editing.
💯 agreed!!! Cody could teach a masterclass
Been following him for years now and there is no better guy to get a win from all the lemons life has given him, only to ALWAYS come back to make the best and sweetest NC lemonade from all those lemons. Salute to you Driving Cody and Matt for once again openly sharing his story...
He should sue the fuck out of where he got the fuel
I concur!
11:34 this is every car enthusiast, when they truly love their car. a look back every time you walk away...
Matt is such as nice guy and hate this happened to him. Glad I will be seeing this car again. I was hoping to see him at Caffeine and Octane then this happened.
Love this dude man, so so humble, a genuinely good man. Before I even moved to Charlotte I hit him up on ig asking him about shops down there since I was bringing my E90 M3 down not expecting him to ever respond to me, and he did. When I got down here I caught him on the highway but I was in my CRV family car and took a quick roller of his beautiful M2 and he reposted it welcoming me to Charlotte. We need more people like you in this world Matt! Thanks for your motivation and inspiration through your story, and thank you Cody for another banger! Hope to meet you both in person one day. Cheers!!
Sue the hell out of them, seriously imagine the amount of damage they have done to other cars
Matt is F’n awesome and that M2😮💨😮💨🤘🏻🤘🏻👌🏻 such a gnarly story. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
I tell my girl all the time, I wish their was something you were passionate about and instead of wishing and hoping you just go get it. I talked and dreamed about my 1st bwm since 2015 and finally bought a used a little 07 335i sedan 6 months ago. Man I look for ish to do just drive that car🤣 And she finally understood seeing how hard I worked and sacrificed to get what I wanted, times were hard to stay focused on a dream now im living my own. That M6 Grand Coupe next on the list😎
You got the car because you loved the car and you went all out for it! I love my g20 BMW M340i, and I went all out for my car too, I get people telling my to sell the car and just get a beater and treat cars like nothing but a plain tool to get to point a to point b. I went for the g20 m340i, because BMW personally invited a nobody like me to learn and race the g20 m340i at a closed course motor cross and it's thanks to that BMW has won my heart and joy for the g20 m340i!
Matt is the freaking goat. What an OG. Love hearing his story 🤘
What an amazing dude. I follow him for awhile. But great (not great) to hear his story. You're an amazing dude my friend
I legit was thinking this is from one of my YT sub uploads with millions of views. But my. How does this only has like 1k+ views. The video is so well produced and the story is damn real. Subbed
Surprised the insurance company paid out. Here in BC Canada, ICBC would deny and shaft you.
Great video so proud of you❤
Man what motivation bro so much I can learn from this guy and his story seriously
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 that means a lot!
Sweet ride!, really enjoyed this video 🤘👍
Awesome story.. seemed like am awesome guy with awesome taste of cars, fighting thru struggles and came out like a boss
This is one of the ultimate street and track builds.
Beautiful story🔥wicked ride
Incredible episode man 🔥
Man you make this look like 48 hours for cars😭. Subbing man. Keep up the good work 🔥.
Hopefully I can see this in person, I’m moving to Charlotte next week 😅
Awesome story of behind the scenes build. I applaud you for keeping at it because your dream came true. Never give up!💯🌟🏁💯🏁💯🏁🏁
This thing looks so good 😍
truly touching
What a car.. what a geezer. What a story!
i absolutely love your video!
This build is so clean, yet so badass and what a cool owner. Greetings from Germany and keep enjoying this beast. ❤
Danke!!
By far my favorite M2 well second to mine…Matt is a good dude and this was a great video…thanks Cody for sharing this build journey…wow…and QT should be ashamed.
Big thanks!!!! Grateful to Cody for the amazing work he does, and for not making me out to be the complete doofus which I am 🙃
It happens bc that QT was prolly a remodeled gas station, only thing they kept was the tank under neath the lot. Over 15years ago my aunt bought a used gas station in Bentonville Arkansas, an she shutdown bc it had a crack in the tank under the parking lot, few people sued my aunt. But it happens. Beware where you fill up bc you never know if their tanks cracked.
Great story, congrats on the car, its absoluty incredible waht you did with it, go on with that project.
Thank you much Man! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Damn N55 caught on fire
Electrical fire so I blame the crappy 1st gen idrive; It was diagnosed with an electrical short and full replacement unit was ordered on warranty… but the dealership refused to install it after 3 service appointments full of useless software updates. The dealership managed to cover the entire thing up (Hendrick is a powerful dude) and even though BMW USA and the dealer (BMW Northlake) admitted fault, they weren’t legally liable for the loss: Driving / liability laws in North Carolina mandate that if a Driver lives through an accident caused by defect/negligence - then no one can be held responsible (good old NC laws). Insurance covered the total loss but I’m still repaying medical bills, and my knee hurts every time I walk… I’m extremely lucky because I was relatively unscathed, and because my attorney was working on contingency. I never received a dime or an apology from BMW. Hendrick fired / reassigned the service advisor and the shop foreman; The wreck wasn’t even on the news 😂. Regardless, things could have been much worse!
I saw this car at Dynamic autotune a few days ago. its awesome
Also from North Carolina. Lots of love bro. ✊
Yessir!!! I appreciate it Man!
Another video of the M2 Ghost 👻 - OKAY! The first 1 you did was a banger.
Thanks! 🙌🏻
Love it!
So good
you should make another video of OMGmiata's miata, and show all the latest parts of his car. Its been totally different from the video you made before
You know, I'm not a typical BMW fan, but what I love about the car culture, at least back then was it was all about being individualistic.
Sure, times has evolved and while many things nowadays aren't my personal tastes, this video is a fresh reminder of how some still keep it real.
Drive safe, Cody, great video.
Big thanks and much respect man ! 🍻
I fu***g love this M2. I’ll start thinking making my wide body too ❤
I smelled something wasn't right, so I kept driving
Lol fair enough; But I was in communication with my tech and checking codes / diagnosing the minute I smelled smoke. From what we could tell, it was an oil leak from my catch can which was only occurring under WOT, and fouling the coils each time; which will cause a car to enter ‘limp home mode’ throwing codes for various cylinder misfires. So I initially cleaned all of the coils / plugs / area with electronics cleaner, tried flex seal on the hose for the catch can, cleared the codes, topped off the oil, and kept driving. After it happened a few times with the same codes, I tried the tow truck route. That wasn’t going to happen, and as far as I could tell I was just smelling hot oil with a slightly odd smell mixed in. I wasn’t overheating, but leaking oil like a siv. So the plan was to drive as far as I could without symptoms getting worse to then call a tow truck. The vehicle somehow held compression and despite burning through several gallons of oil, I was able to putter the car all the way home; this turned a 4-5 hour drive into a 10 hour one because the car wouldn’t go above 2500 rpms - which is the typical characteristic of limp home mode in any vehicle. The block never “grenaded” which was a blessing, but the water in the gas causes detonation because it can’t be compressed or combusted. This pressure created heat which melted the piston ring and allowed oil to flow freely. It’s a miracle that the car made it home, and a miracle that the fuel lasted that long without needing a refill. Technically it’s bc the fuel wasn’t completely combusting (result of water phase separation) and the engine was running by constantly detonating and burning oil, similar to the way a two stroke diesel motor functions. However the error codes and the symptoms presented weren’t severe enough to suggest anything serious was wrong, and I was in communication with several BMW techs the entire time. The idea of water being in gasoline never entered the conversation because the engine was somehow running, and it’s not something that anyone would expect to happen when buying premium fuel from a Quicktrip… it’s like getting rotten nuggets from a chic fil a. There’s lot of great writers in the world, I’m not one of them. I wish I could make this $hit up… 😅 Way she goes
Being these were my problems taking a 100k bmw m2 wide body kit on a trip 😉🤣
you need to do a story on my N54 sounds about the same.
Can’t imagine driving the car puking out like that, My cayman broke a exhaust bolt on one side causing exhaust gases to rise up into the car for around a 30 min drive home with the windows wide open and it was still horrible, The M2 must have been a whole other story
It was a rough trip - worst oil leak ever! If I’d known it was a piston and not a hose I probably wouldn’t have driven, but the old girl made it all the way back without anything abrupt or destructive happening. Thankful because it could have easily Grenaded from the water contamination, but she held compression. We all thought it was a massive leak in the catch can hose under WOT, until they got a scope inside of the engine… say what they want about BMW engines, the thing would somehow still turn over with a melted piston component the several times I stopped to clean the coils and refill the oil🫡
everyone needs to drive a BMW to see why people love it it's like how Jeremy Clarkson them love Alfa Romeo so much it breaks down alot but when it works it's amazing also you can't call yourself a car guy if you haven't had a Alfa before we can also take that and say BMW'S are finnicky aswell they need care and love and they'll put a smile on your face every single time , BMW'S are amazing cars , it's a good mixture between a young guy and a older guys car , a Mercedes is just a old mans car point blank , Audi's are slow compared to their competition, BMW hardly ever misses
I would still look for a lawyer for compensation.
you have evidence of the water content and CES probably has an invoice for the original work required
plus think of all the other people that are gonna get screwed over by that gas station
My attorney agrees; Wheels of justice turn extremely slowly but they keep moving ❤️🙏🏻
@@slowrx glad to hear you got an attorney
hope karma gets back at em!
100% agree. This is a lawsuit.
Man i feel the same away about my f30 335i. Absolutely love my car wouldnt trade it for anything.
Feels!!! ❤️ it’s for your health 😊
That’s M2 👻
That's wild how he fixed the block that was out of whack.. anybody got any reason why it wouldn't just get shaved? Honest question here
Good question! Tyler had to shave it at the machine shop the day after “reshaping” - they owed him a big favor and he was able to have the work done the same day 🙏🏻 I believe they shaved something like 1/64mm off of the area above the timing cover
Damn, stay away from QT and a whole lot of bad luck geeze
Greenville, SC 👀 beware when there
👍🏼
I always just use Shell where I’m from and never anything else.
Same! Pumps were shut off at 4:30am unfortunately… Lesson learned!
Brian’s Supra story irl
At this point it's an M2.3, coz it's been resurrected 3rd time
this is why you should never take your ex back
I get that and I hate it
Sell it bro to many problems to much money into it
I've posted it several times I've gotten so mad to the point i tell my wife I'm done I'm tired of this car but I love my build and i will keep going
I enjoyed watching this
Good morning~epic ~talk yo ulater- :)
RIP
Romantist
He crashed it again😭
Ахуенно!))
Wow, rather poison yourself than wait for AAA…
@contradicsean That wasn’t exactly the plan… I just needed to get to work. I actually had 15 patients relying on me to perform their scans for staging and/or diagnosing cancer at 0600 that morning, and everyone of them would have had to reschedule if i decided to take the easy way out of the situation. Sometimes we have to choose the lesser of two crappy situations, but we still have to make a choice and keep moving. Hindsight is always 20/20 right?
*Honestly, based on my personal experience with AAA Carolina’s over the years; I’d probably make the same decision again.
Maybe they’re better where you live. I filmed one tech catching my wife’s car on fire during a jump… another replaced all of the carbon on my front end after parking the car into a concrete barrier 🙃
50k car new lol
100K - 50k = cost of modifications 😅

Just why keep driving and putting miles on a damn broken car and motor with gas masks etc risking your life and others around I will never understand it. It sounds just stupid.
Unless an engine block is blown to pieces, there is no real way to know the issue until someone physically looked inside the engine; There is no fault code for “engine randomly falling apart”. That’s literally why they designed “limp home mode” in cars for the past few decades…
@@slowrx I don’t know how it works in free ammerica, but here in Italy if your car broke down, simple as breathing you just call insurance or road maintenance and magic tow truck arrives, get’s your car safely on and transport it at the desired shop.
So yeah I continue to not understand the necessity of playing the hero part, driving a broken down car with tons of fumes in the cabin etc.
But I guess your car, your life your choices…
@@G.A.041 You asked your question, I answered, I’ll try again. Here they charge for towing, a lot. I couldn’t afford to wait or waste that money at the time. Not sure how me driving slowly with flashers put anyone else at risk, so that’s just silly. Hoping there’s nothing else you’d like to evaluate? 😑You’ll continue to not understand, that’s part of the issue. Not playing the hero, as a healthcare worker it’s my job to put others first. Doubt you understand that either, and not stressing it either way. Not sure why this is your concern to be honest… I’ve tried to keep it light hearted and (like you said originally) You aren’t capable of understanding, that doesn’t make it stupid; quite the opposite 😂. I don’t like calling names so I’ll just leave it at that. Honestly I don’t understand why you bother continuing to criticize aside from trolling. I don’t feel like I can explain myself any better for you, I’ll just have to agree to disagree. Wish you a happy life Bru, at this point I’ll kindly ask you to keep your judgement and negativity in Italy. I‘ve had more than enough of it 🙏🏻❤️
