    I battle a lot with my anxiety, been sleeping a lot and not wanting to leave my mother alone just to leave for a few hours or go out for a walk because of the amount of crime happening nowadays. My brother sent me this and it reminded me that we will continue to face problems in life but we have the only God giving us strength to fight those battles.

    My Spirit is at dis-ease about the Calvinism doctrine or "institutes of Christianity" and I know this channel attracts a bunch of well-meaning believers and specifically reformed or calvinistic leaning Christians, and I have serious issues with how Calvin and those that strictly follow his institutes view Christ and the gospel. To the point where I feel it may be an accursed gospel, that many *true* converts have been fooled into believing post-faith (making there witness lose power, for a time) but that many newcomers have accepted from day one or its the only gospel they know and therefore (if I am to believe what my understanding of Calvinism is) have not believed at all.
    Here's one question that will encompass their doctrine pretty well, I believe, and from it, i think any hardcore calvinist will be able to see clearly the *many* concerns I have. Thank you for those that would take the time to lovingly and truthfully examine my question(s) and concerns and thoughtfully reply so as to reprove or enlighten those with similar concerns as me. And even more so, to my brothers that can honestly say, they themselves are calvinists and *also* have felt their spirit at unease when considering the implications of a non-elect men and women being born everyday into a world that no Jesus in history had died for their sins. Terrifying.
    Here's my question, do you believe judgment day is gonna look something like this (or that Christ could say and it would be the fulness of truth/the gospel)...
    "Depart from me you worker of iniquity, I never died for you, and I hated you before you ever sinned" ?
    If not, which part is *untrue*?
    That's question #1
    I'm actually gonna ask a 2nd question, and once again, thank you so much to anyone that is willing to thoughtfully consider and examine and answer these questions of mine.
    Even though *you* don't know who is elect or non-elect, would it be truthful to say that everybody who you say "Jesus Christ died for your sins" that is non-elect from the foundation, is actually being (unintentionally) lied to by you. And let's take that a step further. If you were to say *God* *called* you to tell that person, in your ignorance, you are actually saying God called you to *lie* to *him/her*? Considering that God knows that he "didn't elect them from the foundation of the world", is He responsible for that lie or are you? And if you *don't* know they were non-elect, and God *does*, then Jesus commissioned you to *lie* to *many* for the sake of the *few*
    And let me push a little harder...would that make (*Calvin's*) Jesus a hypocrite to tell you to go tell *everyone* that he died for their sins if He fully knew He *only* died for *some*?
    Thank you and I'm praying this is handled in a mature and thought provoking manner that leads to the truth when tested by fire. That all lies will be burned up and only gold remains. Akin to Apologia's own *"provoked"* *series*.

    • @troycross5866
      @troycross5866 4 роки тому +1

      jaydee_xy I’m not a member of Apologia but almost every video they publish has an objection to Calvinism in the comments. I’m really not interested in answering your questions because you’re not actually interacting with the scriptures that Calvinists use to defend their understanding of God and his revealed will. And that is my question to you....why don’t you address the scriptures that Calvinists use? Why shouldn’t those scriptures be understood in the way that Calvinists understand them?

    • @joela.5933
      @joela.5933 4 роки тому

      @@troycross5866 (but i literally already said why but ill try and rephrase it i guess) because Jesus Christ would not commission us to go tell the world that they are to repent (change their mind) and believe "He died for your sins and rose from the dead" if that wasn't true for all the world. Nowhere in Scripture does God approve of sinning (in this case lying to people when you tell them to believe Jesus died for their sins) for the sake of getting this message to the ones that it is true for. The old man made philosophy of "doing a little evil for the sake of the greater good". It's the same mindset these violent protesters have and you see that nothing good comes from that mindset.

      jaydee_xy So, your human reason is trying to limit Christ using a non-scriptural syllogism. You don’t really have a point then. You’re not interacting with scripture that Calvinists use to explain their conclusions because then you have to admit that you simply don’t because God’s revealed will.

    • @gethorge
      @gethorge 6 місяців тому +1

      Just in case you still look at this thread, I would like to answer some questions the best I can. In question one, the implication is that you are not guilty until the first time you sin in your life, this is not true. We inherited Adam's sin from the start, even though there is an age of accountability. Vessels of wrath are a real thing, and they work both through God's sovereignty and the evil of man, I think of pharaoh in this regard. God can harden someone's heart and them still be fully accountable for their inequity. In question two It seems there is an issue here with limited atonement, and I can understand the issue, but I do think it is misrepresented here. You talk a lot about Jesus dying for a particular person's sins. Calvinists believe Jesus died for the world's sins in the sense that his sacrifice is fully satisfactory for those that will believe in him, however, it is limited by the fact that we know not everyone comes to Christ. God could fully well save the entire world through his spirit, but he chooses us to spread the truth and to be a part of his plan. I don't believe that I can save anyone, I do believe God uses me to speak the Gospel and through that Gospel saves those he draws near. I have no knowledge of who that will be and I don't care, all that matters is we try to tell the news to all so that God can work his spirit in the lives of whomever he may have mercy upon.

    In the Bible, meanings of names are often significant, especially when the naming is part of the story and an explanation of the name is given in the text. Often New Testament words have some Old Testament resonance. For example, the word ‘redemption’ is often a shorthand for the exodus from slavery in Egypt, so its use in the New Testament often conveys the idea of a new exodus from the slavery of sin through the Passover sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
    Thus, when studying a passage it is a good idea to use more than one translation. This will often alert us to issues in the details of the text. Make sure one translation is a more literal translation like the ESV, NASB or NRSV.
    Amen.

      I think I can explain. Because I struggle with this to. I have had times where I was anxious and scared and people saying “cast your cares on him” elicited a frustrated response (oftentimes only mentally, but still) of “ok. How? I still have pain. It still hurts. God even acknowledges that. How am I supposed to find comfort or peace? I don’t get it.” We need far more of essentially what Jeff hits on here and far less random verses that sometimes come off as basically “shut up and get over it because it doesn’t matter.”

      JK about the caps, what you see in today's English translated Bibles come from these. There should be many translations avoided as they water it down! But I think some good ones are ESV and NASB as they retain closest to the meaning of the Greek manuscript enough to where it is still understandable to us without watering it down into paraphrases.

    Question: Jesus was so filled with anxiety before his crucification that he sweat blood, so when is fear justified?

    • @wishuhadmyname
      @wishuhadmyname 4 роки тому +6

      There’s a difference between anxiety and fear. Jesus knew the physical suffering of the cross he was going to as well as the spiritual suffering of bearing God’s wrath. It is in light of what Jesus did that we (His people) are told not to fear anything. Death has been conquered and our eternity is certain. Therefore we have nothing to fear and to do so is to willfully ignore what He has done. Should we concern ourselves with our health? Our family? Our nation? Absolutely. All these important things need THE most important thing (Jesus). We are to concern ourselves with the things of this world by shining the Light into it. To fear for those things is to momentarily ignore Him

    • @SAJUSAMUEL
      @SAJUSAMUEL 4 роки тому

      I think the question is , Jesus already feared and suffered anxiety, How Jesus can escape another person if himself already vulnerable to these feelings?
      The logic of this question is understandable and many feel the same question in their mind. Now the same logic not applicable in answer. I really want to correct one thing Jesus was not in “Fear”. If Jesus was afraid about his brutal death, he would never enter Jerusalem. Fear is a by-product of Sin. Jesus was sinless and he do not have such feelings.
      Now “anxiety” is mental suffering due fear, without fear How Jesus feel anxiety and he swept his blood? Answer is Jesus was bearing the anxiety and depression of yours and mine, not his! thousands of future generation’s depressions and anxieties he was taking in his head and suffering the consequence as bleeding.
      When you pray to God for your “anxiety and mental suffering” in Jesus name, Jesus will do the intercession as “Father I already suffered for this man’s mental suffering, Let him heal”, this is the way we get healing through Jesus Name.

It is about proper Ecclesiology; he says in that intro section that he would love to be your pastor (for that, you would have to be in Phoenix), but you need to be in a local church under a pastor who knows your name. God has His people all over, there is a good church somewhere around you (maybe a little farther away than desired). God is completely sovereign, if He has saved you then He has also saved at least one man whom He has called to be a pastor somewhere in your area. Ask God for Him to lead you where you need to go.
      An SBC church could be a good start (some have gone wonky, though, no doubt); they have a church finder at www.sbc.net. There is also a church finder at founders.org/church-search/ that Founders Ministries has. Bible churches are generally good, too. There is a directory at Reformed Reader too, www.reformedreader.org/rbchurches.htm
      What city do you live in?

    Lost me with the word Calvinist. If the foundation of Calvinism is true there is no point in anything we try or don't try to do. If Calvinism is true God is not only in overall control of everything but is controlling everything. If He wants me to do it I will do it. If He does not want me to do anything I will not do it. God is the only real agent. The rest of us are pawns. He chooses who he will save and who will go to hell from before we are even born. There is no free obedience, there is no love for God. He destines us to love or hate Him and we can do no other.
    There is no point in me listening any longer if Calvinism is true I will what the pastor says if God wants me to, and if God does not want me to do it, all the preaching in the world is not going to make one iota of difference.
    I am convinced that Calvinism is a perversion of the truth.
    Arminius and Wesley were right and we need NOT the reformed but the re-reformed understanding of scripture. God requires and has enabled us to love Him freely.

      You said, "God enables us to love Him freely" think about it God enables, His work not mans.

      Brother all throughout scriptures it’s very clear who is in charge, it’s all the will of God not men, nor can’t be both, you “can’t” come to the son unless the Father draws you to Him, meaning if you are in sin, specially because we love sin, you won’t get out of it, even if you tried, if you are in an ocean and drowning can you pull yourself up? Someone outside of you have to pull you, and that is the Father unless He acts there is nothing you can do.

      You then don’t believe when God said: Isaiah 46:11 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’ 11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
