don't overthink the "mechanics" of the Car universe. just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. when doing research, the crew at Pixar wasn't only thinking about NASCAR, but also Route 66, so they approached the author who wrote the tour guide book for Route 66 and he took them on an actual tour through the states on that highway from Chicago to Los Angeles. in return they asked him to voice the sheriff, which he did, and they even animated his moustache as the sheriff's grille!
I'm not sure if you noticed at the end, but Mack pointed out at the drive-in movie how they're just using the same actor in every movie. In real life, this is the truth. John Ratzenburger, who voiced Mack, has been heard in every Pixar feature film since Toy Story in 1995.

51:55 “Wait. Is the helicopter _also_ sentient?” Well, that’s kind of an ironic question, Shree. See, Disney and Pixar have worked together to make _another_ movie called _Planes._ It’s in the same canon.
Notice how the name Dinoco is mentioned at different points in this. It goes all the way back to Pixar's first feature film, "Toy Story". That's the name of the gas station where Andy and his mom stop on the way to Pizza Planet, and is eventually where Woody and Buzz are stranded for a little while.
I had an aunt that had an early 1950's Hudson Hornet. It was a tank but even at that it couldn't stand up to hitting a cow on the road. That being said my aunt walked away unharmed. The same couldn't be said for the Hornet ... or the cow.
Ah, the Maturing Trilogy. Learning when 'best' course isn't always a popular one. Knowing responsibility for yourself and those around you. Accepting that growth isn't always about age.
This movie was made in 2006. By the time this movie was made the interstate in Arizona (where the movie plays out) was already 40-50 years old. Quite on the contrary, in the late 90s and early 00s there was already a route 66 revival movement, and this movie was really just tagging along on that movement. The real world eqvivalent of the town in the movie, Angel Delgadillo, already got a revival before the movie.
Race cars don’t need headlights, horns, or mirrors because they spend most, if not all their time on the track. Those extra things essentially weigh the car down from being its fastest. The lighter the car, the faster. On top of that, the track is constantly illuminated by floodlights which eliminates the need for headlights. They don’t need horns because they’re not gonna honk at the other competitors lol. And lastly, they don’t need mirrors because they’re always going forward and don’t need to see behind them. Hope this helps. 😁
Mater is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy, who toured with 3 other comedians in the 2000's called the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Also race cars, especially in NASCAR, don't have rearview mirrors. They're not supposed to.
Great to see you again. Sorry about the arthritis. I've got it in a knee and in other places too. It sucks. All your questions about car gender and car sex got me stumped. All I could think of was driveshafts, bumpers, undercarriages and exhaust pipes, but I'm afraid to elaborate further. It is always fun time watch someone who wasn't exposed to NASCAR watch this movie. This movie is also a wonderful homage to NASCAR when it was still a regional sport. Chick Hicks with the eighties porntache was modeled after Dale Earnhardt aka "The Intimidator" who had a reputation for liking to "trade paint"(i.e. aggressively bump cars going over 200 mph or 321 kph). The King was Richard Petty who's car number was 43. He holds the record for most wins in NASCAR. His nickname was the King and was voiced in the movie by Richard Pett😅y and his wife voiced the King's wife. The car design for the King was based on Petty's 1970 race car. And there really was Hudson Hornet that raced back when NASCAR mostly raced on dirt tracks. As for the redneck RV, that is pretty true. I grew 12 miles from one a NASCAR racetrack and those RVs start camping out near the racetrack usually about a day or two after the previous race. My town of 8,000 people more that doubled on race week.

Welcome back, Shree. I enjoy your reactions. Take the time you need to put out your content. We'll be patient. As for your questions, I bought this video shortly after it was released. I hadn't seen the movie, though. I get a kick out of them changing the names of celebrities to car-related names. The announcers were voiced by actual race announcers Bob Costas and Darrell Waltrip. The character names were Bob Cutlass and Darrell Cartrip. The Mother Road they referred to is the famous Route 66. I used to think it was no longer in existence, but it's still there, and like in this movie, many of the smaller towns on it are dying because they lost the traffic they depended on when the Interstate Highway system was built. I am really looking forward to your next video. I look forward to interacting you in your Patreon. I'll be there in a few days.
Loving the reaction, especially trying to figure out the logistics of a universe where cars are alive. Glad you mom is ok from the fall and sorry to hear about the arthritis.
