- Crank start! Demonstrating two uses for a 2CV starting handle - unbolting the front wings and starting the engine. Can also be used to operate the standard jack. This is actually a Dyane handle, which is slightly longer - easier to use with my non-standard front bumper.

I believe some Lada models had this feature until as recently as 2012! really useful in case your battery dies or the starter motor breaks, sometimes I wish my Volvo had it just for fun...
😮
Love how it starts with just one turn!
Thanks for this link Ian she started no messing.
go's to prove simple engineering is the best.
The olld Lada 1200/1500 had that option to
Useful feature to have. Must be one of the last cars sold in Europe that had a starting handle. Just as well it's only got two cylinders. Bit of a work out otherwise.
Indeed. Standard toolkit right up until 1990 included a starting handle and a wooden wheel chock. I did once try hand-cranking a Citroen H van. Couldn't get enough speed up, but did spin enough juice into the battery that it then started!
Got to love the H-Van. They're used to be an H van on the A303 advertising a shop and you always knew you were near destination when the van was spotted. Comforting.
When i had a V8 range rover the starter broke and i had to crank it by hand for a month. There is a knack to it, and good exercise.
I'm sure it can be retrofitted...How hard can it be ?

Ah yes, we did not have gyms in those days👍
All cars should have a crank
I quite agree. 2CV must have been one of the last cars sold with one.
Some modern cars still have a crank, located just behind the steering wheel.
@@RWBHere can you elaborate?
@@HaraldSjellose it's a joke, the driver is the crank :)
@@HaraldSjellose I believe he was making a pun about a cranky person and a crank handle.
