with Transformers I found that you can just drop in a little baking soda into ball and mushroom joints, it just adds a bit of extra grit and grip without potentially stretching the socket joint
awesome idea for these also the alternative pledge liquid floor finish use a dropper to apply one good drop to the joint and the bottle will last you forever
ive been using packing tape to add material to the ball joint or using that kikis stuff but i like this this most now. it feels the least janky and cleanest. thanks for the tip!
I own the BigChiefStudios 007 Sean Connery figure, and that thing has the loosest ankle joints in my entire collection. Zero chance of that figure standing on it's own. Someone on a forum mentioned using PTFE tape (the type of tape plumbers use on threaded joints) to wrap around the ball-joints (no heat required). The concept in the video above (shrink wrap tube) is definitely one to consider.
Thanks Terry! Always educational & entertaining. I've been looking for a solution to fix my Jawa set. The other methods I've seen have never sat well with me. I'll have to test this.
For balljoints on figures i always use toilet paper. It works fine and doesnt cost more. And you can use more or less of it simply. I am buggered about dubbel jointed.. i dont know how to fix that :(
By double-jointed, do you mean heads and ankles? Or necks and elbows? If it’s the former, then this will work. The latter, though? Yeah. We’re ALL buggered there.
Howdy! Thanks for the video! Looking for some advice for a different damage. The neck joint on the my Captain America 2012 suit, completely broke off of the body. I've tried some glue but it doesn't hold well enough. Any suggestions? Thanks!
@@PosemasterGeneral Thanks for the response and advice. Will do, would the best market be ebay or do you know of sites that specifically sell aftermarket body/parts? PS my sons really enjoy your content!
If I recall, those troops all have single balls plugged into the boots, right? If so, this method should work. You would just use narrow shrink tubing. Before you do that, though, double-check to be sure you’ve pushed the foot into the leg all the way. There have been multiple occasions in which I’ve though I had a loose joint on the ankle, and it turned out that the opposite was true. Just really give it all you’ve got.
thanks for the tip, Terry! somehow I don't think that will work for older TrueType bodies, will it? (Unlike with older dolls that are strung with elastic, you can just restring with new elastic to tighten the joints)
Hello there, I need help to fix the light up arm for my 40th anniversary Darth Vader. How can I open the arm to check and fix the electrical parts inside? Thanks
The left arm of my tasm 2 spider man got stuck and doesn’t go down more than a certain point. I don’t know what to do 😢 I’ve tried rotating and moving up and down carefully but nothing helped
I've heard the superglue trick tons of times, this is the first heatshrink fix I've heard. Nice. Now please tell me how top do surgery on the shoulder of a seamless figure. I I have a Jiaoudoll body that came with one arm that just won't stay down. Very annoying. I know I'm gonna have to cut her open... maybe I'll film my surgery method since i can't seen to find anybody anywhere who has even attempted to do this. .. well at least no one who uploaded it for the rest of us.
@@PosemasterGeneral Mine too man, I think the repair itself will be fairly easy, but where to cut and how much/what kind of glue to use to seal it back up leaving the least of a scar. That's the question. It's for my battle attired Padme figure, so maybe I'll cut in a spot where the armband will cover.
My problem so far are the hands. I just got Moon Knight and I love it, but I’m only able to connect two hands (all the others don’t connect at all). They just fall off. It doesn’t appear as if the pegs in the wrists even reach the hole in hands. Even the two hands that do stay on seem to be held by the tightness of the wrist and not the connection with the peg. Any advice?
Whoa. That’s weird. I don’t have that figure (had to send it back to work), and this is the first time I’ve heard of anything like this. It I DO remember that it was challenging getting the hands onto the pegs. Have you tried hitting the hands with some heat from a hair drier? That should soften up the plastic enough to help the pegs slide into home.
@@colossaltick Not true. It’s Impossible to avoid loose joints if you keep playing with them. Plastic wears out and breaks down over time. New bodies sometimes feature ratcheted joints, which helps. But over a long enough timespan, with frequent use, even those will wear out.

Brilliant idea. I use to just use nail polish and super glue, but this seems more of a less invasive process.
I just recently started using tissue paper or paper towels to tighten plastic ball joints on Transformer figures.

Cool, I'm definitely trying this
I use good super glue and create bumps. Keep doing new layer to make taller bumps.
What a great tip! Thank you!

I've been this for my Hot Toys Clone Troopers ankles last year
I'm going to give that a try thanks
If you do, try heat shrinking the tubing BEFORE cutting it down to size. Takes less time.
@@PosemasterGeneral thank you. Have you tried super glue trick? I saw it on another UA-cam
Thank you for this! i was using this product called "kiki loose joint" and it seem to not work because diecast leg is too heavy.
Thanks for the tip
This is fantastic!
Great video, thanks! …But what about other joints?
Thank You
Cool, thank you dude
I also use teflon tape.
Yeah, that would do it. 🤘🏻😎

You won’t. Just grip it as close as you can to the joint. (Hmmmm…maybe I need another video demonstrating this.)
