    Mr. Malt, you asked for comments on the final wish. So, here is my take on that.
    The perfect wish was for : “Everyone to be loved the way they wanted to be loved”. If you ever studied Buddhism, desire and attachments are the things that causes suffering in the induvial and the world because they always go unfulfilled or eventually you will lose them over time. The greatest thing we all secretly want, is to be loved and respected by our fellow human beings. So, if we are loved, the way we want to be loved; then all desires are filled and there is no need for wishes or gennies to complete that empty space within us. We and the world would have Nirvana.

      The problem with that sort of wish is that it doesn't remove desire. You may get love any way you want but what if you wanted to ride on an exclusive rocketship to the moon? People will still desire thrills and spills and would need to deal with the duration between getting them. People would still need to deal with death as well since pets and people wouldn't be able to avoid accidents. There are some people who would prefer to be loved as a memory too!

    • @Puerco-Potter
      @Puerco-Potter Рік тому +3

      @@lordpuller2226more than love it would be "satisfaction". For people to feel fulfilled. That doesn't mean you will stop wanting to do stuff or have stuff. But it means you won't risk yourself or others happiness to get it. You want a rocket? You are already happy, but having a rocket will be rad, so you talk to your bodies about it and they are all fulfilled and they love you, so yeah, they will build a rocket with you. And when you die, they will be sad, but they will be happy because they knew you were and you lived a fulfilling life.

    I personally feel that Daisy gained immortality because of the wording of the group wish, like something along the lines that the last person alive HAS to use the wish, so if they don’t use the wish they can’t die… but like you said, up for interpretation 😝
    Loved this story, was really looking forward to it and it didn’t let me down! Just a huge fan of stories that span generations in general but this was a great concept. I like the creator’s restraint in keeping the plot concise despite there being 8 billion stories to tell!

    This was EPIC!!! definitely worth a 9/10. I love how the genies are illustrated and do their own thing in the background. All of the genies have personalities and some actually dont even like the people they are paires with😂. Son man was the best superhero and had a good ending. Combining wishes to end up having someone be unintentionally immortal is really cool. Thanks for making this video, definitely made my day 👌

    Ok, I know this wouldn't fit the story, but I feel like in our world this honestly couldn't go on for more than 30 seconds tops before someone wished to take away everyone else's genies. Those in powerful social positions are just way too comfortable with the status quo to let everyone have an equal amount of power for more than a minute max.

    • @dannymalt
      @dannymalt  Рік тому +20

      The genies explain wishes like that, that would take away others wishes don’t work, as they want as many people to wish as possible. I like that the book tries to come up with rules for things like that.

    What if you wished you had a million wishes without taking from others? The issue with wish-making stories is that the interpretations are all over the place. Like why isn't immortality in Sonman's power set? I think the ending where the human population was 8 billion again was a fast forward to show that genies were no longer needed since everyone got the love they wanted.

    IMO...The whole story was based on DESIRE. The main thing people want in this world is be fulfilled and they tend to find it in material things, that'll eventually still leave them wanting. But, being loved the way you want to be loved is the answer to our desires. So, the last wish set the world to paradise. It was COMPASSION gained through lifes journey and it was LOVE that eventually conquered all.

    my take is that the final first 8 seconds are compared to the 8 seconds at the start,
    but because everyone are loving they wish good things that not cause death.
    not sure how exactly it will solve the cycle, having too many people will cause starvation, especially with no genies to fix it.
    maybe the Writer's point is that with love even that will be solved perfectly with no issues

    I agree with you about the ending. I understand that they wanted the ending to be somewhat ambiguous, but the thing is if you want to do commentary than you can't just back out at the last minute and leave things open to interpretation. You can't tell a joke and then decide that the punchline is up to the listener. If you spend 8 issues leading up to the perfect wish it's kind of incumbent upon you to explain why and how it's the perfect wish. What did it do for humanity? What did it do for the genies? What does the world look like when the golden rule is a law of nature? Good story but the end was kind of a cop out. Definitely concur with the 9/10.

    I think that the number is 8 billion because there are only about 8 billion souls total. And they keep getting reincarnated until the cycle is broken. Also that the genies might be a external expression of the soul/spirit of each person that can only physically manifest when there enough want and a genie/human like will could represent what the ideal state is supposed to be because he was ultimately able to figure out what the world needed himself and daisy was too by going through a similar immortal journey

    The last wished explained is because genies existed because of the huge amount of WANT in the world. People in there core all want something but nobody really knows WHAT they want. So just as the genies who lived for thousands of years explained. They did everything from good to evil trying to satisfy themselves with what they thought would make them happy. Sex, drugs, power, etc. only to find out the truth of what everyone truly wanted but we forgot along the way. Everyone wants to be loved and appreciated but we mix up love with WANTS. So by wishing for everyone to be loved we no longer feel the need for other things to fill that void. Thus eliminating the WANT that brought genies into the world.

    It's just that the author wants to bring the audience back to real life "yes, thank you for liking my comics, but it's still a comics" and what Daisy said about "making everyone feel loved" won't be for genie to finish, but need we live people to complete

  • @VicenteMarinho

    On why Daisy survived. She can only die AFTER she does the wish, it’s on how the wish was worded: the dude says “to the last one alive”, so unless she makes a wish before that, she HAS to be the last one alive. Unintentional, yes, so technically it only works that way because the genies decided to make it that way really, they had no obligation. But that’s what Wil means by unintended consequences. In the end it always work a certain way because the genies wanted it that way unless you one the lawyers that are good with being super specific… clever worldbuilding to cover all plot holes or lazy worldbuilding to cover all plot holes? You decide.
    The last wish… uh. My religion is reincarnationist, so this might be where my mind naturally goes, but the story does set up a cycle of renewed worlds, renewed lives…. And established a limit to how many people there can be. One can assume that’s the total of souls available (and not quite living genies?) to be alive at once, once that number is beat, you gotta clean the garden, get those weeds out and that is the genies function. Daisy wish, being the perfect wish, breaks the need for the cycle. Everyone can be there all at once, nobody needs to learn anymore, nobody needs to grow into that state of perfection. All souls can just be there, all at once. But that is a reading that fits very well with my beliefs. It is an open ending, I suppose it’s crafted to fit everyone’s perception…
