That’s my tidbit @Christopher Carroll! Find a player better than you to emulate. and find a player behind you and your playing ability that you can teach!
Ms.B, tip 1 is really helpful. Upon a mistake, I find myself always going back to the beginning of the song, and never actually finding a way out to correct the mistake. This tip will definitely help me with that! Thank you ❤️❤️
I bought a ukulele last year because I love to sing. I started watching your videos and they have helped me so much! You are my favorite teacher!! I love the way you break down every song and make them easy for me to understand. Thank you.
You so rock as a teacher , A total blessing ,my granddaughter loves you. And I have been working with her and your videos to help her on her musical journey .Thank you 😊
Congrats on your new ukulele! This is a really cool community, if you ever have questions make sure to reach out in the comment section, and I'm sure tons of other learners will help you! I wish you luck on your journey! Don't give up!!!! You've got this!!!!
That Uke looks 🔥 I found you during lock down back in March and decided to try ukulele to pass the time I can say I have no regrets so now I play guitar and ukulele 😃
Love your channel! I never thought I could play an instrument, but have a ukelele now and like watching your videos and practise.. I work at a daycarecentre and would love to play for the kids. So many thanks from Holland!
As usual. Another great tutorial!! Last tip is so well explained and useful to remember for all sorts of endeavors. Thank you. Keep up the wonderful videos. Am so enjoying my uke.
Great tips , my favourite was #1....I'm so guilty of #1 ....I kept going from start of song to where I had trouble over and over. Now I practice the troubled part to get it sorted out but I will follow through with your suggestion of doing a bit before and after the trouble spot .....thank you 😃
Tip #1! Will keep it in mind when addressing my mistakes (all the time!) and I shared it with hubby, he is 2 weeks into learning banjo and is super frustrated right now! Thanks!
I'm 66 and have always wanted to play an instrument. My grandson a marine in Turkey bought me a ukulele. Now I'm trying to learn! I love it. You're never too old to start. I'm trying to learn to make my fingers work. Lol
Tip 1 is my favorite. I'm going to try it. Tips 4 & 5 are interesting. The others were refreshers. Thanks, Bernadette! Would you keep doing these tips....maybe different tricks to play difficult chords such as E chord. Terry's suggestion in the Zoom lesson actually worked for me. :)
Hi Karen! Thank you so much! I was kind of stunned when Bernadette called on me, so I was hoping I was presenting in a calm manner...calm enough to be understood, that is! I’ve been watching Bernadette since I began playing two years ago!
As ever thankyou Bernadette, I did have a little break from my ukulele but am back on it....actually I remembered most that I'd learnt beforehand so that has given me the boost I needed. Love you channel so easy to follow xxx
Tip number 1 is awesome advice! I’ve been practicing my mistake without realizing it. I appreciate your advice. You are an amazing instructor and beautiful lady.
I’m so excited. I just got my first ukulele and it is so beautiful and it sounds fantastic. I’ll definitely be watching and learning from your tutorials.
The last tip was really helpful, Ive been doing that stopping at the mistake thing too much. Im really having that stopping problem with Havana where the strum pattern starts over from D7 to Gm.
Hi ! Thank you for all the tips, which I find them quite helpful, specially tip 1, the last one since I am starting out with the ukelele and I do what you have explained. By the way, I loved your t-shirt. Greetings from Spain.!!
Thank you for always using terms like “fretboard hand” and “picking hand.” I’m a lefty player. When a teacher says things like “Now pay attention to your left hand” or “The right hand pattern is such and such,” I have to convert the right and left in my head and that can be very confusing. And I have to be always ready to do the conversion. I hate to have to pay attention to this extra step. With you I can learn stress free. That means a lot to me.
Hi Bernadette, Tip number 1 was super helpful for me. I was doing that going back to the beginning of a song and repeating the mistake, but didn't realise that until you mentioned it here. Hope Mummy, Pappa and Baby are doing well. Much love ...... oh, and Happy New Year! xx
Hi Wendy!! 🙋🏻♀️ Happy new year!!! 🥳🥳🥳 Thank you! The idea for that tip came from Jaime. He’s learning ukulele now and inspired that tip. I hope you’re doing well!!! Nice to see you here ❤️
Tip 1 - I’m very guilty of practicing my mistakes 🙈 I never thought of it that way but it makes sense! Thanks for that tip (and all the others). Really grateful for your generosity! All the best
I loved all the tips, but especially #1. I’m new playing ukulele and I’ve been ‘teaching’ myself the mistake. Thanks, Bernadette! Also, I bought the bougainvillea ukulele and I just love it. So pretty and sounds so good!
I’m new to the ukulele world and as a beginner I really appreciate the advise , especially about not starting from the beginning when you make a mistake… that’s what I was doing. Will definitely try😊
I love listening to you because you think about things the same way I do. I’m teaching ukulele to elementary students and this encourages my confidence. Mahalo❤
The comment about practicing the difficult part instead of starting over and over is excellent-wish I had learned that in piano when I was a kid - it's a great comment - and thanks PJP
Number 5 reminded me of when we used to use playing cards attached to our bike wheels with clothes pins to get a different sound...lol. You look beautiful today. Thanks for the tips!
As a beginner tip #1 is excellent tip!!! I do what Bernie said NOT to do! I start over, however with this tip i now can practice better and keep my frusrtation level low and understand how to overcome difficult sections.
Hi, I love your videos, thanks for making them! I do audio, but I've been getting really into my ukulele playing since covid, and I've found your videos to be really helpful. Thanks!
i absolutely love tip one on how to practice! it's so focused. As beginner, i make lots of mistakes so this is very useful. I'm also a beginner ballerina and this practice tip will help when I'm learning a new dance. Thanks for all your excellent tips, especially tip #1! You're the best!
I want to watch tonight but it's late for me and this is still the middle of my work week! Thank you for what you do! I started playing around 1st week of December. I really like it and am happy you give your time for us! If you make up some merch I'll buy something to support what you do! :)
It’s so nice to see KitKat hanging around your ukulele space! 😺 I would think Tip #4 would work using cornstarch, but be mindful that this could affect a fretboard to a degree and would require the use of fretboard oil, especially when changing strings. I’m usually so excited to change strings that I forget to condition the fretboard. My random tip would be to jam with players ahead of you in your playing ability, and ALSO, jam with players who are behind your playing ability. In these days of social distancing, you have to get creative, but jamming along to a UA-cam player (any of Bernadette’s videos, of course!) is great for learning to play at that person’s level. Jamming with someone whose playing ability is below your own helps you learn, as well. If you can teach it, you have mastered (or are mastering) it. 🤟🏼♥️🌺 🌴
I never thought of cutting my nails straight across. I figured the squared ends would catch on the strings. I also never thought of looking down the fretboard to check my finger position. I'll have to try that.
Corn Starch works well for sticky fingers. I have used the tip about NOT starting over every time I make a mistake. As you said, work on that part until you get it, then include more.
thank you Bernadette! Actually I found your advice very useful, the one about NOT LEARNING THE MISTAKE!!!! I think this is what I tend to do and then wonder, why am I not progressing...:))
Good stuff, Ms B! Looking and sounding well! I invested in a sapphire nail file late last year. Wow. So much better than emery boards. Save money and have better nails. Win. Full disclosure: I am a guy who doesn't have massively strong nails, but the right sort of maintenance means you can keep your nails short on the left hand and fairly long on the right hand. I find little and often works better than a big trim once a week.
Always surprised when I watch great videos like this and see thumbs down. Seriously. What the... Always good to see you, Bernadette! Tip number one. Oh my god!
Hi Bernadette. I am new to your channel and just began playing Uke. I love your channel. You are a great teacher. I learned a lot from you already. Thanks Victor
That 5th point to play without stopping & then of practicing b4 mistake, the mistake & after mistake really makes sense. I will begin applying that so I can Memorize one song at a time.🙃Instead jumping around or moving on to another & not learning anything all the way through. There's so many songs I want to learn. But I'm realizing I have to go at my own pace & not expect too much too soon. I pulled up your finger picking tutorials too so I can start learning that as well. Thank you every teacher has there own gift & individual Teaching style! Thank you I'm about 6mos. in of serious learning. I'm starting to see some progress it's about not giving up. I really Love💜this Beautiful instrument.🙂
I'll bet that the person used corn starch instead of flour for sweaty fingers. People used to use cornstarch on babies for rashes to keep the diaper area dry.:)

"Keep going beyond the mistake" - solid life advice right there
Yep, useful for not just playing musical instruments.
Started watching your channel to teach my daughter how to play, now I'm learning.
That’s my tidbit @Christopher Carroll! Find a player better than you to emulate. and find a player behind you and your playing ability that you can teach!
You are so calm, simple and pleasant. God bless you, BIG TIME!

Ms.B, tip 1 is really helpful. Upon a mistake, I find myself always going back to the beginning of the song, and never actually finding a way out to correct the mistake. This tip will definitely help me with that! Thank you ❤️❤️
Wow, that ukulele is stunning!
Just got mine today!!!Luv it!!!
Your last tip about how to practice a difficult part in a song was the best for me. Thank you!
I got your new ukulele for Christmas!!! It is a beautiful piece - I love the color, but more importantly, it has an awesome sound!
I bought a ukulele last year because I love to sing. I started watching your videos and they have helped me so much! You are my favorite teacher!! I love the way you break down every song and make them easy for me to understand. Thank you.

Tip 5 is very smart and thank your for all the tips and the ukulele looks very beautiful
80years old here!!! Hehehe ÷ 4
Just started bought ukelele since i saw this (very beautiful teacher)
Thanks Teacher B
My favorite tip was the trick of putting an item between your strings! I used a folded up tissue, and oh. my. word. it sounded so cool!
I learned so much from the final tip!!! Happy to see you're back making videos! Much love to you and Baby D!
I am an established brass player (over 50 years) learning the ukulele. Your last tip is the absolute best lesson to learn!
I got one for Christmases so I'm learning how because of u

Tip number 1 is awesome advice! I’ve been practicing my mistake without realizing it. I appreciate your advice. You are an amazing instructor and beautiful lady.
Flat nail tip!! Can’t wait to try!! Hope this helps the feeling/sound that my nail is getting caught up on the strings.
wow! For christmas I got a ukulele and these videos are helping me learn a lot! So great!
I’m so excited. I just got my first ukulele and it is so beautiful and it sounds fantastic. I’ll definitely be watching and learning from your tutorials.

True, not everyone frets with their left hands. Just saying "fret hand" is best. I'm a right-hander, but still...

Supper tips from a SUPER teacher clear and fun x
As a beginner tip #1 is excellent tip!!! I do what Bernie said NOT to do! I start over, however with this tip i now can practice better and keep my frusrtation level low and understand how to overcome difficult sections.
That was very good information. We are all going to be expert players very soon.

These are really cooool tips Bernadette. Thanks for sharing..cute cat by the way you got there..hehe
Thank you so much!!! 🙈
And thank you for being in the premiere!!! ❤️
Tip #1 reminds me of playing in band in school. The band director would always stop us and do it exactly the way you described.
finger tip suggestion!! thank you!!
I never thought of cutting my nails straight across. I figured the squared ends would catch on the strings.
I also never thought of looking down the fretboard to check my finger position. I'll have to try that.
Your cat looks sooooo cuteeeeeeeee❤❤❤❤❤
Hello I love you videos they are so easy top follow along especially when you say look up or look look lok
Sooooo smart!

DEFINITELY! Clippers create stress that create microfractures that lead to breakages.
