4:00 For the first helicopter, I believe that the bottom rotor acts a bit like the ring gear (big inverted gear) of a planetary gear and the top rotor acts as the sun gear (usual output of the planetary gear). If the bottom rotor were fixed, the top rotor would spin twice as fast but considering that the bottom rotor can freely turn and the top rotor puts more load (coming from the air friction) by turning twice as fast, the bottom rotor (or ring gear) starts rotating until the load on the two rotors are equal.
Yeah. It's like a differential used in a car, if that's a more familiar concept for anyone. The driveshaft doesn't directly power the wheels, it powers a mechanical system that distributes the power across both wheels. The wheels spin relative to each other, and the applied power determines the overall power. The difference is really just that wheels spin in the same direction, whereas this system splits the power between two sets of blades spinning in opposite directions. From a basic mechanical standpoint, this system is a lot easier to grasp. The powered axle isn't directly connected to either set of blades. It applies power to the set of gears, which distributes power between both sets of blades. Specifically, the gears transfer power to the upper blades, while the gears themselves are fixed relative to the lower blades. When the upper blades begin to spin, inertial forces cause the entire set of gears to rotate in the reverse direction, spinning the lower blades. The total power between the two sets of blades in balanced by natural forces at the point where both sets oppose each other, spinning at equal speeds.
9:30 The engines are backdrivable (if that's a word) and when you look at their rpm/torque chart the torque drops to 0 at their max rpm but the engine can turn faster if driven by another one through gears, doesn't help with torque tho. With the way it's setup the engine with smaller gear provides big amount of torque when starting and at low rpm and the one with bigger provides higher rpm when going fast.
Scrapman, if you want to view workshop creations without needing to buy the parts for it, as some of them are VERY expensive, you can also use the CREATIVE MODE!!
The high speed f1 kinda cars with lots of down force can be really fun to race on the curvy roads if built right. The last queen race is good for them.
@scrapman you can go into build mode, you just have to right click the workshop item, then click buy parts (vehicle? I forgot what it was called) and then go into build mode on that new vehicle
Scrap, we’d love to see you get into the factory genre. Factorio, satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program. You would love them and there’s a large following for these games.
In trailmakers you should make a biplane that floats and propeller is in the center above the cockpit towards the front like poro and by the way it's a plane look up the Animated Series poro
I wish people wouldnt use this format... And... isnt it funny how despite these high numbers of day x, they've never got a trail from previous videos or comments... As if it's entirely made up numbers.... Ask in a sensible way. Just *ask*. You dont need to formulate additional pressure with a made up number no-one cares about, it just makes you look pretentious.
After looking at the scorpion I realized something: I am really eager to see you starting a new series on creating mechanisms like the trammel of Archimedes in Screw Drivers (I don't know how possible it would be since the gears don't behaving realistically, though)
That chopper's bottom blades spin from being interlocked with the top blades. Both will always be forced to spin together and will never have independent rotation. If the top is forced to move a full rotation, the bottom is interlocked to mirror that full rotation through the gearing. If you held one set of blades to try to stop it from rotating, the other set of blades would experience identical resistance in the opposite direction.
The blue heli's props are pretty much not anchored to the body at all, so the top prop is effectively pushing off the bottom prop which splits the spinning naturally between them in opposite directions.
This BxSM in the gears is to maintain the speed over each shift, not making the main shaft stop or lock in the change, maintaining and improving the speed
I'll have to upload some of my stuff sometime and try out other people's stuff. I have this small car that's like a go kart crossed with an F1 that has good acceleration and takes corners at higher speeds. The only issue is it has so much downforce that the engine would collide with the ground on some turns and the bridge, however if you manage to knock the engine off (without knocking off any wheels or downforce), it becomes obscenely good at cornering, like that turn after the long straight could be done at 200+ kph (or more maybe? I'll have to see what it's really capable of)
The Multiengine on different gear ratios has diminishing returns once you exceed the first engines maximum RPM. In other words you not only lose the power of that engine you also loose power from the slower engine because the faster engine has to over spin the slower engine as well. This same effect happens when you stack electric engines with gas engines since the RPM values are different. You will never fully get maximum power from the gas engine unless you disconnect it. There is a sweet mix between gear ratio / tire size and wind resistance currently.
You can build multiple cars in the same build and they all control together. You should try racing with several cars at once and try to get them all through.
11:08 if anyone’s wondering about that gearbox as much as I did, well I messed around and realized due to the different gear ratios on the motors the game treats them as different gears when shifting so with that setup an only two gear vehicle becomes 4 gears and so forth
The small geared motor connected to the big gear motor could be to enable acceleration as the initial gearing is probably high enough that it wont move easily without the assistance, as long as the input gear and out put gear on both ends of the big gear are the same size it should not cause conflict as once the higher speeds are reached the big gear takes over, irl this would cause electrical back feed and be bad Essentially making the small motor a generator at higher speeds but it's a game

Also this is gonna seem very bad at first but read all of it, a series called Knock offs, you attempt to recreate builds on the workshop without looking too close. you can obviously drive them and look at the description but no build mode.
17:28 right now it seems that the red plate on the electric engines conflicts with either some tires, or just steering tires in that configuration. needs to be tested but i know i had issues where the big mud tires were pushing my engines around when steering but the other tires were fine 17:43 if you look at it closely when it reassembles, the engines closest to the front (left) tires are being violently pushed
I think natural progression of videos would be workshop of different kinds of vehicles. try to build each kind of vehicle. then workshop parts to build vehicles

They used the wrong gears, counter rotate should = not greater than to balance. Use the y-x gears as x-x gears to make 1.5 size x2 not 1 and 2 for gear up.
