I got all of the attachments and 4 of the 9ah 60v batteries at my local pawn shop cheap. They tested out for me and all.

Just got my Dewalt edger attachment today and used it for my first time edging. Worked amazing! My soil clumped inside it a bit, but it worked great. Love it.

Trimmer plus. It's nice dewalt actually used the standard shaft design, so you can use the universal brands.

nobody anywhere want to admit some trimmer work with after market brand.
and the dewalt and the makita were on my check out list.
now that i know these attachment fit i can make a move.

I own the very first 20 volt XR Brushless trimmer that Dewalt put out. It was there first string trimmer when they started their yard care division. It still works great but you sold me on an upgrade because I need both an edger and a hedge trimmer and this new Dewalt setup with interchangeable fits the bill perfectly! This Flexvolt system will be perfect too because I have close to 20 other 20 volt tools that this Flexvolt system will work with. Pretty cool idea making the battery system backwards compatible. I hope the batteries have as long of a lifespan.

What can you suggest for a replacement blade for the edger? The original DeWalt edger attachment has a 7.5 inch blade. Can longer blades be use?

I had to replace mine just bought a 7.5 inch from ace hardware. I have the surebuilt attachment and it takes the universal blades. With a fresh blade there's not much room to go bigger

My understanding g is you can use flex volt batteries with other 20v dewalt tools, but can you use 20v dewalt batteries with flexvolt tools? You probably wouldn’t want to but just curious if it’s possible if ever in a pinch.

No 20v batteries will not run the 60v tools

I have the 970 trimmer as well. I’ve read now multiple times that the 970 is NOT attachment capable. The 972 trimmer is the attachment capable one.

After that first edge I would think it would be faster as you are only trimming it at that point and it is easier on the device.
Is getting it attached and reverting back to the trimmer easy?

Yeah it's pretty simple changing attachments. And it has been much easier after that first edge

No, but I would still keep it. It is nice to have a dedicated edger. I love the gas and cord free tools.

No, EGO has their own independent system, their are five or six other brand attachments that will fit this, one of the better brands is Husqvarna!
