omg this bird is wonderful, he will fly to me and start cooing and want to be petted, and sometimes if I pet him really good he stops cooing and just closes his eyes and is the cutest thing ever, and he will fly onto my shoulder or chest and "preen" my face or if I pet him he will preen my hand. He always looks to see if I am looking at him or not if he is in another part of the room. If I look at him, he will put his head down and start cooing because he wants to be petted. He sits in my hand 2

You can put newspaper or something under where they sit. I don't know... my grandmother had a parakeet when I was growing up, and it was in a cage on her kitchen table. I never really thought it was that great. I have seen some really cute parakeet videos on youtube in the last year or so though. But I think there are a lot more "cute dove videos" than "cute parakeet videos". I think maybe parakeets need a LOT more work to tame, plus they seem hyper, while doves seem to be naturally calm and friendly. I practiced with a chicken before the dove XD

this dove loves to sit on the top my Nintendo 3DS screen while I play Animal Crossing New Leaf. He looks at the screen while I play. He also likes to sit on top of my PS3/Xbox controllers while I use those. I just have to hold them upright so he isn't on the buttons.
This is so adorable. The male tends to sing to the female to attract them or to simply keep other males away from it's territory. Have you considerated getting it a lady-friend? & good work with your eurasian collared dove, it looks lovely.
I think any type of bird you get, it's better to get it very young (as young as possible) so it imprints on you instead of someone else or another bird. When I got this dove, I think he was trying to learn to fly and fell out of a tree onto a parked truck on the side of a busy road, so he wasn't an adult yet. Also he was still making the baby tweeting noise.
I don't understand why the French don't do this kind of videos a lot, I do, but without creators like you I would never have started my channel so thank you

One of my friends suggested a dove because they have soft beaks and don't hurt quite as much if they peck or bite. I was worried that a dove wouldn't be as affectionate as other breeds, but this little one looks very sweet. Do you think a dove is an okay bird for a first-time bird owner?
They can bite if they are angry or scared, if you rise a dove/pigeon or you gain trust of one they will get use to you and don't do that :) btw pigoens and doves prefere wing slaps as for of defence then beak

Its a male dove, they have a lower pitch coo. The females have a higher pitch.
