- Chanel is now enforcing a purchase limit in the US and This has been confirmed with a NM Chanel and a Chanel boutique. And Ill tell you the new changes and this will actually be a benefit for us consumers.

I honestly blame the people that foolishly shell out an extra $1000-2000 for a bag, they’re the ones that encouraged those greedy resellers.
Yes thats true and sad too. I am not willing to pay a premium for any bags especially more than $500 mark up. 😬
It’s very frustrating when you can’t get a bag but the re seller can get 6, it was time they tried to do something 💕

Yes I know what you mean. I think many are SA selling to the SA now the system wont let them anymore according to my SA
I LOVE that they are doing this. I’m sorry but the resale market is ridiculous and it prevents REAL customers from purchasing. I refuse to buy from a reseller. I wish everyone would so they could eat their “investment.” I don’t understand why people support this shady practice and pay significantly more for an already expensive handbag.
And really, if they want to go after resellers they need to look in house and create a policy against selling to resellers and have severe consequences for SAs found to be working with resellers. This happens a lot and it’s a big part of the problem.
Yes I agree with you. I dont support resellers as I dont believe in buying premium for something so expensive already so I just wait for the future releases.
As for the SA working with resellers, this unfortunately is very true. I hope they will crack on this as well. 😣

I had this issue the other day where I spoke to a CA and she told me that even though I have a beauty history with Chanel, they could not do a phone order for me because I would have to go to the store for a first time bag purchase. I wanted to call the saks she told me to double check but then I just gave up and didn't want to hear the rejection a second time as that saks is over 2 hours away from me 🙄 This is really frustrating 😩

This is good news. I'm tired of hearing "the bag is sold out" by my SA. Reseller has been shelling out price premium so high. I'm glad there making it more available from clients as Chanel bag has been so hard to get.

Yes you still cant buy online but an SA can ship it to you and order via phone. They have quite a complicated process 🤭
Great topic! So glad they’re imposing some limits though I do wish you could buy two bags. There are sometimes so many good bags in a season and then none the rest of the year that fancy you. I do wonder if resellers will be able to get around this 🤔 not yet sure if Canada is doing this yet!
Im getting mix answers from my SA as they said you can only get one a month or 2 every 2 months. Im sure the resellers will have a plan b but it may become harder for them to get more. Im curious about Canada as well. Thanks dear 😊

Most reseller stores has 3 staffs. THeowner probably send these staffs out to buy and they will end up 36-48 bags per month.
Super super THANK U for sharing. I like purchasing direct at boutiques coz its more fun plus i al really scared buying at any resellers coz i may get duped or something. Glad Chanel is doing this. Also in LV they are also cracking down the “reseller market” at least small time consumers like me will have more chance of getting unicorn pieces 😍😍😍😍

I think it won’t be much helps even they change the policy . The new launch will always be show to higher profile client . Reseller is one of the high profile client too . So they will get to purchase first . Chanel only have a few pcs of some popular design

I still see resellers with multiple bags.... it's not going to stop them.... they will find a way. I don't mind buying from them as long as the price is not more than $300 on a big item. I do hope it makes a difference.... we will see. Great info!

I am real upset with all these re sellers though--i have been buying Chanel for over 15 years now and have never had so many items sold out even before they come out--this has been happening more in the last few years-all because of these re sellers , who are just buying up all the hot items--this policy will decrease the amount they can buy. But these ladies have their friends and families working in the Chanel stores and are able to buy so often!!! How many of us even buy a Chanel bag a month???

Same here and I have been missing out on many new collection pieces because they are out even before they hit the stores and resellers are there selling on their pages for a premium price. It’s frustrating and I really hope this helps and they will catch those SA who helps these resellers
I wanted the 21S iridescent pink mini and I was texting my SA for days trying to get one. I ended up buying from a re-seller at over retail. The thing that stung was that I was asking my SA before the date whoever purchased the bag I found through the re-seller. It is unfair as they go in and buy all of these "hot" items everyone wants and forces most of us to pay through the nose to get what we want. It is madness!
It is so true and same here and I really hope that this will be imposed. 12 bags a year is not a lot for resellers and hopefully this will allow us to get some of these bags. 🙏🏻

I heard this does not apply to their VIPs, is that true? VIPs can still buy and resell the bags at a higher price.

This definitely happened to me a couple days ago when I was buying my bag from Chanel Bloomingdales NY. They couldn’t find my purchase history with Chanel Bloomingdales however I do have a history with Chanel boutique. I believe they made an exception as the manager did end up contacting me the next day to let me know they can send out the bag. I also tried sending the bag to San Diego however my billing address is in LA so it was a frustrating experience however learned a lot that day. Gotta be with a card that has the same billing address as the shipping address so I couldn’t use my boyfriend’s cc. Don’t worry, he offered his card 😆

Yes my SA confirmed this to me as well that they are strict with matching address and purchase history which I know can be a nuisance but I think they just want to make sure to stop fraud as I heard there is a lot going on too. You are lucky to have a good BF to offer his card. Maybe next time bring him with you at the boutique 🥰
I personally disagree with this. Its more so an Issue w Chanel SA who work w personal resellers not the resellers fault. If I had a connection I would use it too. Plus this does not mean that people are going to be able to get bags that they want.
Agreed. I just purchased a Chanel bag for my daughter and one for myself on my account. Also, have been on a waiting list for while for a particular color Chanel 19 and just got msg today that it finally arrived. However, turns out can't purchase it because I already bought 2 in past 6 weeks. Had I known about the limits I wouldn't have put my daughters bag on my account. I even asked sales person to just just sell it to my daughter who has her own account and they said can't because they have to go to next person on the list cannot change names. So Chanel thinks that the resellers haven't figured out a way to get around this....of course they have they have a whole army out there buying for them so they can still buy all the bags they want. And here I cannot purchase the bag I've been on a list to buy for months because of the resellers abuse. Now where do I go to get the bag I want....reseller???? Because of this Chanel has just chased me, and I'm sure many others, right into the arms of the reseller to get the bag we've been trying to purchase. Coincidentally this same thing has happened to me at Louis Vuitton....I preordered 2 of same small bag about 6 weeks ago for 2 of my daughter. They said 3-4 weeks and I had to pay 100% deposit, here it is 6 weeks and they said could be another month. However, now I am flagged and not able to purchase anything for the next 2 months or so because I met my limit and bought 2 of same bag. Crazy that I don't even have the preordered bags and it's been twice as long on backorder and yet still can't purchase cuz I've been flagged.
Glad Chanel is setting limits. I voice my opinion in Chicago about how reseller are ruining the market. The SA’s agreed with me.
That's great news, but you're forgetting that a lot of these resellers already have their profile build with retailers. Hence, their shipping and billing address do not need to match. The new policy seems to weed out new resellers, but existing ones can still continue their purchases.
I asked this same question to my SA and what they told me is that they are stopping old and new. My SA said its coming from higher up. I was told many changes are coming so will see how this pan out. 🙏🏻 Im sure old resellers will have a way around this though

Hmm not sure when they’re implementing the one bag per month policy because recently my sa offered me a mini square which I bought and then couple days later offered me a rectangular mini which unfortunately I had to decline because gotta be responsible lol 😂 but I really wanted two bags from the upcoming 21k collection and my sa reserved two bags for me so we’ll see what happens 😙

Thats so true and oftentimes we dont find them at all. Hope this new rule will really help alleviate some of that 😊

Thanks for sharing. While I queue for 1st day of new collection, I noticed some buyers brought like family of 3 to 4 adult with appointment to have priorities to go in the store and buy multiple bags under different names. I think chanel should also limit 1 pax per appointment, really not fair for people in queue for 2 hours trying yo enter the store while they already snapped all the hot items.

@@AlwaysAntonette It is in Asia country. This is another method people can buy multiple items in different names. If chanel doesn't control, this is how people are going to abuse the system.

I know some resellers in Europe have a group of people shopping and hunting the unicorn bags so unfortunately the policy of 1 bag per month is not gonna be effective.
But hopefully the tax situation is going to make it less profitable for them but I think at the end they’re just gonna add the tax price for they’re costumers!
And about the purchase history I don’t know how it can effect resellers. it only creates more desire in people and brings Chanel more up to Hermès level.
I don’t think it will stop them but it will hinder their operation. They may still get some of the high trend bags but they won’t get them all. It’ll just give real customers somewhat of a fighting chance.

Unfortunately the determined resellers will find a way to avoid the purchase limit by using family and friends etc . I agree with others here that people should stop buying off resellers for inflated prices .

I doubt it cause the SAs have to sell so many bags for their commission. So if they have a connection with a reseller they are gonna sell as many bags to them as they are allowed so they can get their cut.
