Joe Montana was awesome.
We love you in Canada 🇨🇦,Scotty keep up the great work !!!!
The Chinese come with their EV's to the US via Mexico.... (They are building big factories there.)
The older American cars are way better then the newer ones.
💯
True... I still drive my 2012 Dodge Journey and it's still running strong... I'll drive it until it dies
It's starting to look like that for European and Japanese cars as well. Newer ones are overladen with so much tech that a driver doesn't really need, and all it does is raise prices to crazy levels. New cars are far more expensive than they need to be.
Yep! We've got a1982 Toyota Celica GT, a 1991 Chevy Suburban 4X4, and a 1996 Ford F-250 CrewCab. All are daily driver vehicles, still have original drive trains, have always received regular maintenance and all run very good. We would NEVER even consider buying a new car, SUV, or truck!!!
@@BillyJoeJimBob8 yeah I drive a 1993 Suburban that used to be my mom's and it hardly ever needs repairs.
Bring back the manual transmission!
There are 100 different models that have manual available.
It's more difficult to achieve emission standards with manual transmissions.
@@johnhudelson2652why?
@dwaynejones1555 Because there is a lot more variability between gears with manual shifting, and you have to close the throttle between gears with manual shifting.
@@johnhudelson2652sounds like they don't want to work.
this parking switch very very deadly. if your battery dies you can’t put your car into park or take it out of park. Essentially it’s in neutral. engine dies looses all power
2004 Ford slogan: "If you haven’t driven a Ford lately, look again."
2024: If you drive a Ford lately, you will need to look again, and again, and again...under the hood to figure out what's broken. 😂
Many years ago, I was told that Ford was an acronym for "fix or repair daily." Coming true?
@@deanmccormick8070 Also "Found on [the]road dead".
Have had much better luck with my Ford the last 3 years, than the GM junk I've owned the last 20.

My 2004 F-150 FX4 I currently drive runs great at 185,000 miles My 2001 has 350,000 miles and my son drives it around town
My wife has a jeep Cherokee latitude with that stupid parking brake placed behind the gear shift. She had driven it and accidentally pulled the break when leaving an intersection. This caused her to not move and chaos ensued. It’s very dangerous and stupid
You mean brake. Please don’t let your wife know you can’t spell because she will probably scold you mercilessly.
@@alexvaliansky7707
She probably does it anyway.... lot's of 'hen-pecked' husband's around
Lmao some people need warning labels on everything
Jeeps are junk. And they're no longer being made.
Those SUVs are piles of junk 🗑️🚮 unfortunately 😂
I got a car at Enterprise in a general category of Corolla/Civic. They gave me Mitsubishi Mirage. A 3-cylinder CVT joke. Merging on a highway is about the same as playing Russian roulette. Gas on the floor, engine doing close to 7000 rpm, the car sounds like a vacuum cleaner, and it barely moves.
You thought you were going rent a car, but it turned out to be a Mirage. 😅
@@robertbailey1838 A Fata Morgana indeed 🙂
So it just really sucks like a Hoover?
@@Dilberts_Dogbert About that, although Hoover keeps the dirt it sucked in 🙂
I have a vacuum cleaner that sounds like a car....my bf tells me to get a new one 😑
About five years ago I convinced someone to buy a corolla with a manual transmission. Now he said he is so happy he bought it instead of some junk scrapper overpriced SUV.
Toyota and Honda are making a lot of sh*t too. Belt cvt's, turbos on tiny engines. Toss away autos; toss away customers.
Honda is 🗑️
I keep seeing people saying they have 175k+ on the cvt in the 11th gen civic. Plus it has the k20. Updated tuned McPhersons. Idk man I mean I hope mine holds up but yeah Honda is getting rid of the manual in most of their cars
Also a friend & neighbor bought Mazda Cx-5 signature. Beautiful car & reliable. I’m considering getting one. Is a turbo. My neighbor hasn’t had any problems. Is a 2023.
Bring back standard transmissions!!!
A belt driven oil pump running in oil, just brilliant😂
My Honda Ridgeline is the nicest and best quality vehicle I’ve ever owned. I started driving in 1968.
Totally agree. Bring back the manual parking brake!
They used to be called emergency brakes too. The si plier, the more reliable in an emergency.
i dont know why they call ford and chevy american when there making less and less here. the foreign cars build more cars here than we do.
When your Toyota Camrys are made in Kentucky, and your Fords are made in Mexico, you really have to do some detective work to figure out which car you actually want to buy...
Here in Europe the Ecoboost are known has Ecoboomm! In Uk a group off people sued Ford because off the catastrphic failure off these engines.
Here in England they are recalling Ecoboost engined Ford because they are not lasting 50,0000 miles
*Toyota is crap today as well. Look at the Tundra engines blowing up en mass!*
The recall of one model with one specific engine says not all about the overall brand.
Because it’s rare on Toyota’s we’re shocked and it stays on the front of our minds.
By the way it’s solved now 💪
What did you get instead?
@@touraneindanke Problems with oil pan gaskets on new Camry too. ALL car makers are in a race to the bottom. Why. You will live in 15 minute cities, own nothing and be happy.

From time to time in the 1980`s and 1990`s I had reason to pass by the General Motors Oshawa plant and my much younger self could not help but notice the STEADY INCREASE in the number of hondas and toyotas in the GM workers parking lots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Food for thought in that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The same reason Taco Belle employees bring their own lunches!
@@tomrogers9467 There IS a difference as Taco Bell DOES NOT GET IMMENSE SUBSIDIES FROM GOVT to build junk electric products that people DO NOT WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
American cars got better over time, but now US makers are screwing up so badly... saturating their vehicles with unnecessary tech that swells the prices. They don't understand the market. And now, in many states across the Midwest, huge dealer car lots have so many models sitting there for months on end with no buyers. This isn't sustainable. Is the US gov't going to face another US automotive bailout?
@@cytherians NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Car makers AROUND THE WORLD are responding to the PRESSURES AND BRIBERY of Woke and Socialist LIE-beral govts trying to DICTATE FUEL ECONOMY AND TRYING TO INFLUENCE MARKET PREFERENCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I brought 2002 Corolla LE that has 23K original miles from 78 years old man from FL The car still have original tire. I use this car as a back up and I only replace Shock struct brake belts and all fulids that ran me about $460.00 . It run like new even I have to replaced weather strip and battery but no body rust. I am too old to borrow the new car payment that will last longer than my life expectancy!
Goog god man. Replace those old tires!
Change the tires even though they might still seem in okay shape and have lots of tread. I pushed a winter set to 11 years. Still had lots of tread on them but were turning into pucks! lol
You’re a blessed man 😊
That new 3 Cylinder Ford Engine with an automatic is the replacement of the "Automatic Geo Metro"
Smart For Two have 3 cylinder engine.
I still see Metros driving around every now and then.😁
What did this have to do with Parking Brake photo in your thumbnail?
I rented a Tesla too, worst decision ever…..
A friend bought a Tesla. He has a pretty long daily commute. Oddly, electricity at his home is half what I pay. He has a good deal. He plans on driving it until it's useless, so resale isn't a concern. I'm not sure what year it is, at least 5 years, but it's self diagnostics says the battery is down 4 %. Lots of life left.
Toyota had offered a manual transmission for the Corolla, but only limited to only one trim. It used to the SE. The CVT is the one that comes standard, so manual can be hard to find
I'm a Toyota fan boy, but they just had a huge recall for their new V6 because they left debris in it. Toyota isn't perfect either.
What difference does it make if Ford is the most recalled car? People keep on buying crap.
It means Ford only employs monkeys.... including CEO
It's crazy to see the prices being asked for Ford/Chrysler/GM trucks and SUV's. Wagoneers are going for $90k+ and every space at the dealership is full. Very few if any customers are buying these overpriced cars. But the domestics don't offer anything value priced like Honda/Toyota/Kia/etc. Chevy only makes a Malibu now. Ford only has the Mustangs. When your options are a $28k Camry or an $80k truck/SUV what do you think the average buyer is going to choose?
I rent cars every other week for work. I can't hardly find a real, live car, because they are all gone and the only thing the rental companies have left are SUVs and electric cars. I am so sick of SUVs! Give me a '68 Mustang please.
I had a 68 GT with manual and a 390 , but rolled it one night coming out of a strip club . I was like two months home from Nam at the time . Wish I still had that car !!
@@indycharlie Damn stripped that 68 GT alright
@@TsmCrankster Sadder yet . I was just 21 years old then and didn't want to have "total " claim on my insurance that young . So I sold it to the junk yard . Also , I rolled it while still on the strip club property , so I didn't get a ticket , nor was my insurance notified .
@@indycharlie oh, understandable, so what you gotta do at the time. Ever got another 68 since then?

Im 69.. i never needed more than power brakes and power steering. And im having a blast beating my 80s honda scooters around town.
Im almost done with all this crap anyway. Im not making money on them anymore. Why waste money.
I am renting a new rav 4 right now.... i hate it.the tranmission is trash. I hate the shift points. I far prefer my subaru outback
Scotty is 100 % correct about the US auto industry !
But Brock Purdy is still on his rookie contract and "only" makes about a million a year. Once his contract expires and they sign him to some 200 million dollar deal I highly doubt he'll be driving that Toyota... but we'll see.
Mechanics call the 1.0 ecoboost the "ecobust."
When stationed in Japan in the 1970sI drove a tiny little Honda car. It had a two cylinder air cooled engine. Had it for over two years and never had a single problem. It was a cool little car for the narrow lanes up in northern japan.
they were not trying to extract rediculous power from it
I had one of those stationed on Oahu. Called it “the roller skate.” It was junk, dangerous. Soured me on Honda forever. Had 4 Toyotas after that. Then went to 90s-early 2000 Chevys, and an XJ. Still have the 2000 Tahoe.
@@CMBBmc-jd6ur I drove all around Japan. Never felt unsafe. Most of the roads up there at that time were never above 40mph or so if I remember right. It was just a unique little car.
Ford 3 cylinder wet belt system failures. Thousands recalled because belt disintegrates in oil and clogs up oil flow causing engine to overheat to destruction. I drive a 4 cylinder Lexus and that's the way it's gonna stay.
I own a 1998 f150 bought it for 1500$ back in 2008, truck was side swipe so does have some damage, it still running great, it broke down on me twice over the years, fuel pump went out, I replaced it myself by sliding the bed a little to get to it from on top, 2nd problem was check engine came on, I took it to a shop and they replaced one fuel injector, over all for the money best vehicle I ever owned.
The Dodge Hornet is the worst selling vehicle right now with something like a 400+ day supply. Not surprising, its over priced Stellantis / Fiat junk.
My last new car was in 2019 I hate this thing, I’d rather buy a mid 90’s early 2000’s and put the money in it and have a much simpler/better car.
I just bought a new Subaru last year, I can't stand all the electronics on it. Please auto makers give us gauges again.
@@TheJHMAN1 couldn’t agree more lol. Just breaks in the long run if you keep cars 10-20 years
That's even stupider when they put a 3 cylinder turbocharged engine into a suv

I just drove a used Focus with a power boost transmission. What a piece of excrement. Owner of the Focus kept admiring my 2011 Ranger. It looks new in the Midwest. I Fluid Film it every fall. My wife”s Senna? Same year. Same miles. I’ve never had to do that with her van and it looks great.
I enjoy older vehicles. Easier and cheaper, usually, to work on. 2008 4runner ain't too bad and my German Shepard loves the back window. Lol
I like 80s and 90s the best I had a 97 honda civic for 10 years with 375,741 original miles barely have me any problems just regular maintenance due to my mom saying get a newer car which I did 2013 hyundai veloster broke down on me with 140,051 even though I maintained the car properly so I had to put more payments on the 2016 toyota yaris probably got 1 more year making payments never again buying a newer car gonna stick to my 90s vehicles yeah it might be hard to get parts after a while but their simple an easier to work On these days they force you to drive just a new car
What do you think about Dacia Sandero? I think their idea is to build cheap but good, new cars which feel older because they don't have all the tech stuff which allows them to lower their price. The base version doesn't even have electronic windows or mirrors, very old school haha
BMW new 1.5L engine is a 3 cylinder- insanity !
Agree that turbos are something to stay away from!
Honda should start making full size/half ton pick up truck
And Toyota never should’ve gone away from the V-8 in their full-size pick up.
The Cars ford Australia made like the Falcon were legendary for reliability, but they were big 4lt inline 6 engines. it's incredible that these big companies take massive steps backwards when they have a history of making good cars. what happened to learning from your mistakes?
Learning from mistakes & improving on them is the Japanese car manufacturers way....not the western way
Funny how the car manufacturers just keep making cheaper to build cars but the costs have doubled or more while reliability and longevity have halfed 🙄
Scotty shorting Tesla, Episode 420
Love your videos. I thought it was a hrlp video or review on the parking brake that hondas have. They are terrible. One can press it by accident when reaching for their coffee. Then you have to pull over before your car is destroyed and brakes ruined. You have to start the car then press the brake pedal down and pull up on the parking brake button. Its terrible. I miss my brake handle.
Crazy thing is ford doesn’t and has not made a car or sedan car in couple years and when they did their trucks were solid built!
Now they don’t make cars and only focus on suv and trucks and they’re failing and not making them well!
And that’s all they have to focus on!😂
So WTF ford? Why drop quality of the trucks when that’s all your building now!
As a european i think electric vehicles are amazing especially if you live in a city but the over techy crap like a parking button doesn’t make sense to me
Or tracking your routes. I don’t like that.
6:01 - Visit Irvine, California, and that might not be far-off. There are so many Teslas here! More specifically, white Teslas.
All leased 😂
I had an 87 pontiac turbo firefly (suzuki swift). 3cyl. Went 600,000 kilometers. No problem😊 highway driving 75mph all day long
As a resident of Danmark, I can tell you, wind turbines do work and they work well but they have to be located where the wind is almost constant, like Danmark! lol A calm day here is something to be savored.
They are the most expensive way to generate electricity, low wind no power, high winds no power, the maintenance costs are huge also the ecological damage to the bird population is staggering. If it were not for Federal funding no one would build them here in the US.
In fairness, the Tesla Model 3 is a luxury car, the Corolla is not. A fairer price comparison would be a BMW, Audi, or Mercedes sedan. No prospective Tesla Model 3 or Cadillac, BMW, Audi, or Mercedes shopper would cross shop a Corolla.

I actually like the electronic parking brake all you got to do is hold your foot on the brake pedal half a second longer and it automatically sets it. Many people don't know how to set the manual parking brake without stressing out the transmission
Now I gotta weld my diff. Seriously though I always used my hand brake in older cars.
You can't safely park like Ace Ventura without one.
Forged internals . Turbo charger , turbo plumbing, the cooler . I don’t see how a 3 cylinder turbo is any cheaper than the 4 cylinder escorts they made in the late 90s which in my experience got well over 40 mpg at highway speed .
They also lasted a pretty good while
The EPA with their ever stringent fleet mileage targets are equally to blame. Ford etc. HAD dependable motors that were removed because of emission and mileage standards.
This guy Scotty … one of the very few telling the truth. The rest u Tuber’s are just toeing the line so they can get close to the manufacturers.
Thanks Scotty! One of a kind.
The model 3 would be a much better comparison with the Camry XSE....in which it would be in the same price category. I think most people would find this as a fair comparison.
Model 3 is as big as Accord. They are very wide in Asian road, some diesel van are smaller.
@@GF-mf7ml I can refuel a Camry or Accord much faster than a Model 3..and I can do it almost anywhere.
I'm sticking with my 1980's, 90's Cadillac Broughams
3-cylinder cars are great as long as you buy one made by companies who specialize in building small 3-cylinder cars. The Japanese company Daihatsu is one company who makes 3-cylinder cars and they are great to drive and they are good quality. I owned a Daihatsu 3-cylinder car for years and it had no trouble keeping up with freeway traffic and was good for long distance driving.
Trend to make smaller crappier cars that last only a few years. I have a 2006 Honda truck with 170,000 miles
I have owned two Chrysler Vehicles, both of them were Triple Lemons...Good Service with Chevys and Fords...Maintenance is the Key most of the Time to Long Lasting Vehicle--just like your Body, you abuse it and it will Fail You...
I'm actually kinda glad some 3 cylinders are coming out. I'm not going to buy one, but this way I get to observe them over time without spending any money. If they last or not it will give some information. I'm starting to think that the oil flow matters a whole lot more than how hard you push an engine. People get hundreds of thousands of miles pushing redline every shift for decades on some cars. I think they could make it work... but will they? Probably not.
Friend of mine had his VW Tiguan lock up when driving after was reaching for something in his console. Shouldn't these E-brake switches not function when vehicle moving?
Why r u friends with VW owners?
🤦
Hey Scotty, instead of buying a new Tesla every time the battery gets a couple years old just drive over a curb and let the insurance company pay for you to get a new one
Good luck with that. They will just total the junker. 😂
You will have to pay the deductible, the price difference of new, & premiums will be raised.
@@dwaynejones1555 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Keep chugging that ev propaganda kool aid. Me I live in the real world.
I do have an EV. And it’s not a Tesla or GM. What freaks out a lot of people in Scotty’s line of work, is the lack of maintenance needed. No oil changes, no annual smog check, no muffler replacement, etc. If mechanics don’t get on the EV bandwagon, they will limit their future career choices. My EV cost $0.03 per mile including insurance. Yeah, I will get 🔥 flamed, but, it’s ok. I always wear my Simpson fire suit when typing.
@@Qrail yes you do need oil change and even a coolant change, , ex cars use coolant in their battery and engine oil in drive train,, also you do need maintenance of other parts like brake,, A/c. And when one tiny resistor burns you will need to replace the entire logic board which is costly to diagnose and to replace, oh and battery has life limit
It’s true about those park brakes. We had rented a Volvo XC90 in Scotland 6 years ago and it had one of those stupid park brake buttons next to the ignition switch in the middle console.
I have a tiny engine in my Lexus hybrid. It gets 44 mpg. I don't beat it up all. I drive really slow. I picked up an old manual BMW M3 to beat up
Really slow and gentle is a way to make things last longer........................
but some people have reason to get onto highways or to pull large loads....................and the little puddle jumpers DONT LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Horses for courses. You have 2 different driving styles, with a different car for each. Good choice. You'll probably get good enjoyment out of the recyclable BMW until it starts recycling itself over time.
If your lexus doesn't have dents and scratches in it and the BMW bodywork is in perfect condition, you're doing something wrong😂
Toyota owners usually drive really slow, that's why Toyota's are reliable 🧚👍
@@Antonio-gq6fx That stuff about dents and scratches is silly BLATHER not relevant to discussions of poor quality / badly designed cars that are the fault of marketing clods!!!!!!!!!
Scotty did you forget about the Tundra and the recall for engine replacements??
In fairness he recommends older vehicles NOT the new models. He has several videos telling you to stay away from the turboed trucks 😎😎🤔
Scotty is sharing his wisdom with us. Appreciate it guys! He's like a cool uncle that I never had.
Awesome Scotty! BTW, how is it so that you talk CARS and I hear POLITICS ?
The Citroén 2CV comes to mind.
I got a 3 cylinder turbo is the first and the last time i buy something like this
Dealer in Omaha is offering $3000 extra trade-in on jeeps for a bronco.
When your customers find a better product, they are not your customers any more.
The teams with the most money typically win. The sports system now days are bought and paid for. LeBron James ruined college sports .. and basketball.
THANK YOU for continuing to put out informative videos.
I want Toyota to buy an American car conpany
Purdy is in a rookie contract, making very little wait till he gets a new contract
Excellent scotty right on the money cheers 🥂 😊
GM 6 & 8 speed automatics are garbage & they fail.
Manufactures would compete with each other; competition encourages quality.
Now not so much, American manufactures seem to be the way out😕
American manufacturers: It depends on what the meaning of the words "on par" is.
Toyota's new pickup engine is having serious problems so not everything is better about them. My 2019 Ford F150 V8 is still just fine. Ford has definitely lost its mind on pricing and everything since the pandemic seems to be prone to quality issues. I think/hope they will work those issues out and then if you maintain them properly, new Ford trucks will keep going for many years . Price is a different issue, they still believe they can charge ridiculous prices and people will pay it.
The parking brake switch is either on or off. You can't do a controlled hill start with one of those.
I pulled the parking brake switch in my mom's cx5 when i went into target. When i came back to the car and pushed it in, the whole section that contained the swotch sank into the center console. We had to use the back of a plastic fork to reach in and push the switch so we could leave the parking lot. Total crap.
I agree the CX-5 is Total crap 👍
*NOBODY wants an EV at any price. Hardly anyone wants a hybrid either, they are outrageously priced*
Maybe in the US, EV are quite popular in the EU and even more people would buy one if they had a lower price.
@@r1pfake521 The main reason why EV are popular in many European countries is because the govt is heavily subsidizing the cost to purchase them. That and the govts there are essentially outlawing ICE engine cars and making it a decree that you buy only EV.
@@horseathalt7308 Semi true.
"govt is heavily subsidizing the cost to purchase them", yes that was a huge bonus, but the german govt stopped it by the end of last year and many people still buy EV cars here.
"outlawing ICE engine cars and making it a decree that you buy only EV" they plan (or rather dream) to allow only NEW EV cars after 2035, until then you can buy as many new IEC cars as you want and you can also drive already registered, used ones long after 2035. No one is forcing anyone to buy a EV car right now and 2035 is a long time away, many things can and will change until then. The german govt already said that they try to push back the date even further, so that you can buy and register new ICE cars even after 2035. Everyone who says or belives that anyone is forcing EV right now is a exaggeration. I read this a few times on the internet but I don't know anyone in rl who actually cares about this rule or feels forced to get a EV car, because we all know that they will not be able to actually force it by 2035, they will push it back, like they did with many other things, don't be afraid of the govt dream talk, they talk a lot of stuff.
I priced a Toyota and it was higher price than a Ford by a lot. I was shocked
Well Toyota is recalling their Tundra/Sequoia engines. So if Toyota is recalling their full size truck, who makes a good quality truck anymore?
Scotty! if Toyota is reliable then why do the RAV4 have the cablegate flaw?
As an American I'd rather save on gas...
But you likely wouldn't want to have an engine that blows up after 60k miles, an old naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine usually does fine.
@@myk1_sp yeah three cylinder might as well be a motorcycle
@@nathanpadilla213 Precisely.
Don't eat junk food or baked beans then
The idea with buying older, reliable, but unfortunately somewhat less fuel efficient vehicles is that the money you save on less expensive maintenance goes towards gas money.
Scotty is my favorite crazy craxk head car guy who tells the truth but wants to quit every week
Scotty these car manufacturers should consult you before building anything
