- It's time for our first milking with our new milk cow, Honey. There are certain considerations we have to make when bringing a new milk cow into our management system (which we cover in today's vlog).

I am so glad that Lily is able to have horse backing riding lessons. I believe in letting children explore their dreams.
Today was fun!
Me too!
Plus, she deserves it in general, but also because the boys got their motorcycle.
Agree, if she sticks with it then getting her a horse would be the next step.
Totally love your newer slightly longer videos, I very rarely comment just enjoying watching you and your family thanks for keep going, I cannot afford abundance plus please keep going on UA-cam you never get old.
Lilly with the horse was so precious.
I love that you are getting Lili riding lessons, thank you for nurturing her interest. I hope she sticks with it even when its gets difficult (as you progress, riding can get hard but is so rewarding in the end), she seems like the kind of girl that won't let hard work get in the way of what she wants to do. Learning about proper care and control of horses is so important to developing a confident relationship with horses, and teaches kids so many life skills.
I Love That You Got Lily
Horseback🐴 Riding 🐎Lessons!
❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏🥰😘
Question- Did you get Honey from Jessica Sowers(Roots & Refuge?
@@BrendaJMay Jess still has her Honey.
@@BrendaJMay No, she came from Virginia ...
I am so glad that Lilly is getting horse riding lessons, I am sure she will enjoy it.
Just wanted to say, it was nice having an outro. No abrupt sudden ending. Very nice change.
I laughed at the shouting aka yelling of Jona from the other side😀, walky-talky radios will be fun for the boys, Roja!!
I'm really enjoying the longer videos and your endings.
TOTALLY HAPPY for LILY! YOU GO GIRL!!!🐴
No greater bond than that of a girl, and her horse.
Frist thought Henry was Mr. Brown in the Ergo. That is when I started first watching. Seeing Henry not want to have anything on his feet is adorable. Lily turning into a lady. Try not to remember to much about the fact that everyone growing up. Just means we are all getting older. That bacon looked so good. Looks like you have lots of up and coming meat for the farm. You are finding lots of small pasture places. Fun for me just watching like a grandma that watches the grandkids grow.
Lilly is such a natural
We named one of our heifer calves 'Honey' years ago. Her mother was 'Daisy' 🌼, They were Jersey's. A Freisian heifer calf we bought in we named Clover, as she had a heart shape on her side. I miss having my own milking cow!
I'm so happy and encouraged to see Lily start her riding lessons. Its so important to encourage your children's passions at a young age. Great job and Blessings to you all. ✌👍💐
Been watching your channel for years now and I do love the new format. Thanks to your editor. Keep them comming.
Oh I really like that ending of the video. Tied it all together and if you're not like you fell off a cliff or there's something on the other side of an ad. So thank you for such wonderful video and the ending of the video. Yes I'll be watching out for your next video.
I loved seeing Lilly horseback riding! 😍🐴 and operating the riding mower. Josiah is really getting experienced with just about everything Jonah is doing. Your kids are really coming along in learning all the farm chores and then some. I wish I could come over to enjoy that wonderful bacon you made 😋
Maybe the No Kick Bar that Miah Sowerts use might be helpful for kicking new cows
Electric Fence issue you've been having, is your Ground Rod. Rust is not conductive. Use a Copper Ground rod, they are copper for your house a reason :)
It is so nice to have an ending to your videos. Good luck with your new cow.
Love the longer format. Thank you.
Love the boots Lily!❤ 🤗👍❤
Honey is so pretty and love watching everyone active...Seth absolutely has a beautiful voice could listen to him read a audio book ..the sheep looked so pretty following the shepherd.....
Great to see that Lilly is taking riding lessons! so much fun! Horses are amazing animals.
Xy
So nice to see Lily up on that horse 🐎
Lilly u looked amazing. Glad u got to do something so cool. U go girl U can do anything. God loves you.
Honey is a sweet cow! I like the longer videos, make sure you get lots of footage of all the leaves changing colors this autumn!
And if you want to make Lily's horse dream come true, a smart way of doing it would be to find someone looking to rent a stable. You can house someone else's horse on your pasture, and they not only pay you, but pay for all the feed and vet bills.
I like seeing you and all the kids solve problems around the farm, and would also like to see more about what your wife does and how she homeschools your kids. Thanks for the longer videos!
On roots and refuge they use a no kick bar on their milk cow...prevents the cow from kicking. Just a thought. Bacon sure looked good, made me hungry. Thanks for sharing.
Hey y’all! ❤️ Lily! You go, Girl!
wonderful to see lilly enjoying her special time with her horse.!
Really enjoying these longer videos!
Yay! Gideon AKA Mr. Brown found his shoes.
You gotta love that kubota tractor that starts EVERY time!😊
Oooo new outro? Nice! I think Honey will fit right into the herd! I’m glad you found her. And yay for new lambs coming soon! 🥰
Yay for Lily! Every girl’s dream.
Good to have an outro ending - thank you
Honey sure looks like a Brown Swiss. We had one in my youth. Blossom gave us 8-10 gallons per day. Great butterfat. Gentle cow. Great memories!
Honey is a Jersey.
Southeast Tx cowgirl here, the love of a horse heals the soul!! You go miss Lily ❤️🥰
I love your channel! And the wholesome family-affirming watching option! But I have to admit that I was really excited when you had Dan shutting you down when it got "sick-cam"-y! LoL PLEASE keep that going. 😀
Great video pleased to see Lily horse back riding she loves horses and she is a sweet girl.
Wow. That was a busy day. Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed it.
Nice, live seeing lily on the horseback lesson
I like your new closing to the videos where you explain expectations, hopes, and reality!
Justin you should get a Tri blade brush cutter for your strimmer, cuts through large bramble trunks and small branches and does the strimming part too, cheap as chips also. I'm sure you have them stateside... game changer with brush ... And no this is not an ad. I just bought it and it worked a treat
If Lilly sticks with riding (which she probably will because once a girl gets the horse bug we're caught for life)
And if you consider getting a horse in the future as you've mentioned recently I highly recommend looking for a leasing situation first.
That offers her more riding time and introduces her to some of the experiences of ownership without the staggering cost to you guys right away.
Also now is the time for you all to be soaking up all the horsey information as she's learning as well because when you eventually do get into a lease or ownership you won't be starting from the beginning and running into expensive vet bills! Because there will be some no matter what and the internet is unforgiving as you so very well know hahaha.
Best of luck to her and those gorgeous new tall boots!
My heart is full of joy to see Lily taking horse back riding lessons. I actually was going to post how she is so ready to take on the responsibility of a pony. All the time and care she gave the rabbits was amazing and she showed how much she learned about rabbit husbandry. Not her fault they didn't breed. Then how she took on the little bummer lamb and kept him alive. I know she must have been so sad to have him end up in the freezer, even though that is the way of the farm. And getting the kittens was ok but they are outside pets and farm cats. The boys have been given the motor bike equipment, the motorcycle, the quad and all those boy things but Lily asks for a horse and she isn't acknowledged. But we only see the content you share and have no idea what is really happening. Don't need to and it is your family but I am so happy for Lily. And Justin, you are an amazing dad so full of love and not afriad to express it. And I love Rebecca's sense of humor. She is the perfect match for your. And all the kids are such hard workers. Smart as whips, too.
i would say go with concrete and use lots of gravel and drain pipe - you need some drafting work - make it big and can be tornado shelter - put your freezer consolidate but expand
Yay horse 🐎 riding lessons! Awesome 👌. Love how you work with the kids and everyone is happy
Thanks for a nice long video and a ending!
Way to go Lily 💕❤️💕
So cool for Lilly!!!!! ❤️
Hooray for lily riding lessons. Great opportunity.. Great parents!
LOVE THE LONG VLOGS ARE BACK!
what happened to the scythe? Is it not good for clearing fence lines?
I'm really happy you went back to the longer videos. I've been following along for quite a while now and i've enjoyed seeing more of the "life on the farm" kind of content, simply because it makes us feel less alone when going through similar things. So thank you :) I appreciate it
Absolutely loved the outro! Great job Justin!
Good job on not talking while walking! I really enjoyed the video.
You go Lily! Great job!
She is a beautiful cow. Honey was easier to start off than Flossy was. LOL for a bit I was wondering if you were going to get Flossy to calm down enough to milk.
I can't believe how much you get done in one day! Holy motivational!
I’m so proud of lily taking riding lessons
Go Lilly!🤠👍
Ewwwww looking forward to the root cellar
Another good show!! 👏👏👏
You will have to make some cheese with all the extra milk, butter and all the goodies! You also can freeze dry it and make powder milk to have for rainy days! 💞
I use leather dog collars on my cows ankle then clip two 6 inch clips between so she can't kick you. I just leave the dog collars on her legs so all I have to do is clip them together works great
I like your voice-over / talking head explanation, much better than pointing and explaining in the field!
Loving your content! TY!!
Blessings to all!
Always hard working
It’s great to see Lily operating the farm machinery! Atta Girl 👧! 🤩
Always enjoyable watchhing your daily lives and the changes and progress, always inspiring
Thank you for sharing such great tips and knowledge for different projects and milking new cow's... I really need some hands on training... I'm wishing and praying to have my own little farm soon... My Son just started in Real estate so hopefully in a year we should have one... Or at least a small homestead... THANK YOU with much love to you and your family.. ❤️
Kudzu can b eaten . You need to research to c if u want to include it in your greens.
Horseback riding lessons 👍👍. YEAH!! GOOD JOB !! She will probably ace that 👍👍
Fun stuff Justin!
Happy for Lilly!
Lily!! 🐴 🐴 🐴
hey!!! one thing that really helped me understand the milking and moving process much better and thoroughly was the drone VEIW from the top... maybe we could see more of them in the future when explaining the processes and movements or net layout. I've just recently stared watching you guys again after 4-6 years and there has been so much change!!! and your channel has grown so incredibly much... you guys inspired me once again to better myself and life in many ways, finding what best for me and the environment all in one :) I'm currently living in New Zealand and have been having difficulty finding more affordable food options. Watching videos like this one shows how much food I can collect or grow that is good, Thank you P.S : I look to the boys and become jealous of their chores :0
200th comment
Good tunes
Nice seeing Lilly getting riding lessons all the boys out vote her and get the tools bikes go carts etc. If you bring her tail between her udder and her leg and hold on to it with your left hand and milk with your right hand if she kicks it will pull her tail which she won't like and will settle down
Justin love your videos and the beautiful one manages you all very well but my thoughts on birthday boy is get him to manage his shoes and socks for the bouncy house he really needs to get that under control!!!
if you are looking for a great smoker grill I would highly recommend the PitBoss pellet smoker grill. it's electric like yours, temp controlled, and is heavy duty. Reverse sear steaks are incredible on it!
Ben Hollar is so clever-he made the weedwhacker over with a chain link welded on to it so it can chop through weeds like a samarai sword!!, nice project for the boys, whatdaya think Farmer Rhodes?
Sweet vlog. Beautiful horse.
Another amazing episode 👏
🙏🐝🇬🇧, love the longer videos.
My bacon need to crunch to be considered done. 😆
Vous êtes unique, vous et votre merveilleuse famille !!!
Bénédictions +++!!!
Looks like a very productive day !
Your shows so addictive love them
I'm always trying to think of an easier way...a system that makes less work for me in the long run.
I'm seeing you move cows every day, and I think moving sheep in the same areas. And you have to move each animals shelter each time. What if you had a simple stanchion/shelter in each area, not necessarily movable. And just move the animals. Just curious if that could save time on a daily basis, in the long run...
That would be a ton of structures!
sheep eat bottom of kudzo and then you cut trunks and feed the tops to them or other animals that will eat it.
Do you have a video on the plans for your ram pen? Or could you make one if you don’t? I want to make one for my sheep but I can’t find any plans for one.
I remember the time my father was milking the herd and 1 of the new cows kicked hem through the side of the milking barn as he walked behind her .
Yay for Miss Lily!!!
maybe a kick bar like jessica sowards has
Yay Lilly
Muy excellante trabajo!
Yay for Lilly doing horseback riding!!
Our root cellar was a dirt floor.
