- One of the country's best known drum and bass musicians, the DJ Goldie has threatened to melt down his MBE in protest at the closure of the nightclub Fabric. The London club has been permanently shut down by Islington Council after two drug deaths. It's part of a wave of club closures that some fear is leading to the end of club culture in the UK. Warning: there is strobe lighting from the very beginning - and throughout this report. Keme Nzerem reports.
Better start closing Gyms because of the steroid abusers then
Best club ever - miss the fabric days like no other! Live on Fabric LIVE!
We were born underground, we'll survive underground. We'll take what we want
One of the best clubs in London and one of the best in the world according to the rankings. My very first rave was in Fabric.
. . . . So, I've decided to take my work back underground . . . to stop it falling into the wrong hands . . .
Man I'm so hurt fabrics shut .
I'm sorry but why does the club pay the price of something that the police, the govt, and the people themselves who take the drug, and the people who sell the drug be held responsible! I've been to night clubs in London! They are MORE STRICTER there then here in the us! I actual felt safer going there then here! Hell the fact you have to go thru a pat down and can't take in any gum in the club just to prevent ppl trying bring drugs was a shocker to me! I do t get why the club is responsible when they don't advocate it, let alone police stopping it from gettin on the streets or main fact the ppl who are so hell bent on getting High and buying this
WE ARE OPEN AGAIN !!!!!!!!
This was a well put together report odd normally the tv news would of been behind such things
What's the tune at 4 seconds
up next for London?? Sharia law
What a terrible shame. "Appropriate and proportionate"(?) Not at all. Does the Establishment have any idea as to how well known London is for its dance culture and famous for its nightlife.
Not the end was it?
nightclubs, bars are the platform that music producers, mc's, dj's need to showcase ambition, creativity in the music industry whether or not they make it big or small, yes other platforms have grown to market producers like youtube and ways to create/produce music like FL studio on pc's, small scale venues to showcase music like bars and clubs are vital to keep this country toward the top of the music league, it's as though were going backwards to the late 80's again driven underground more illegal raves will pop up, harder to police with 0 tax payed, shutting down clubs will not stop the drug war, people have also lost jobs,at a time when money is still tight, if this replicates across the country and the club culture is lost then the blame will lye on useless council workers, crap policing and rubbish MP's
My condolances goes out to their families, but i have to ask was this because of the drugs or them beeing overheated by dancing, beeing in a hot room and probably not drinking water?
The drug culture in Fabric is insane, They do thorough searchs while entering, but surprisingly enough there are in house dealers, anyone suspicious other than in house dealers are kicked out,
SAD
Youth of today. No morality, no discipline, no-reshpect
DJ Goldie has an MBE? Fucking hell, what has this country been reduced to...
The end club went as well !
