- Hello friends! In today’s video, I wanted to help out and give some insight into deciding what jeans hem to do. These are my recommendations based on my experience but of course, you are free to do as you please! Since there are many factors to consider when deciding what hem, I created a flowchart to help guide you to the right decision. I hope you enjoy my background lecture on jeans, I’ve known about that for many years and was very excited to tell you all that story.

All that knowledge AND a flowchart! You are extremely generous. A pro! Thank you!
Thank you so much Tomoko! I’m so glad to share what I can! 😄
I love good history or sewing lessons and today you’ve given us both! I will definitely put your wonderful flow chart to use. Thanks so much! 👍💗
Ouuu thank you so much!!! I hope it works well for you :))
That was a very well communicated video offering the pros & the cons of the hems. The clutter of confusion in the minds of guys wanting to change the length of the jeansis clarified well.Thank you 👍
Thanks 🥰
I loved this video! The background on jeans and the flowchart … perfect!
Thanks so much 🥰
Thank you, I love your channel!
Anytime you are looking for video ideas, one thing I would love to see would be how to add belt carriers to my jeans. Women's jeans really cheap out! And curvier women need more than one single belt loop in the back.
The clothing history is wonderful, what a fun way to introduce the video. I could listen to you all day!
Thank you so much for sharing the flow chart!! It is so helpful as all of your videos are also! I’m so glad I found your channel!
Thanks so much 🥰 I'm glad to help!
Such a complete vídeo! Great teacher! Great Tailor!
This is a wonderful historical time frame and very informative. Im well into my 60's and still love my jeans. :-)

Love all your work and videos I have learned a lot from you. Thank you
Thanks 🥰🥰🥰
I've found your videos on denim patching to be so useful. My hemming problem is a bit different though because the jeans I'm working with have a big hole on the heel side from being walked / dragged on the floor. I'd love to see some tips on dealing with a hole like that and re-hemming (a bit shorter). ❤ Thanks for all your tips!
I'd patch it using a soft material, even interfacing, and then make the hem or even better adding a Eurohem. Cheers 😊
Thank you for all your time xo
Thanks for watching and commenting 🥰
Loooooove the flowchart! Genius!

Thank you so much Nancy!!
How Levi began:
One of Levi’s customers was a tailor named Jacob Davis. One day the wife of a local laborer asked Jacob to make a pair of pants for her husband that wouldn’t fall apart. Jacob tried to think of a way to strengthen his trousers and came up with the idea to put metal rivets at points of strain, like pocket corners and the base of the button fly. These riveted pants were an instant hit. Jacob quickly decided to take out a patent on the process, but needed a business partner to help get the project rolling. He immediately thought of Levi Strauss, from whom he had purchased the cloth to make his riveted pants.
Davis wrote to Levi to suggest that the two men hold the patent together. Levi, being an astute businessman, saw the potential for this new product, and agreed to Jacob’s proposal. The two men received patent #139,121 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on May 20, 1873.
I love this! 👆👆👆
And the first pants were made with another material first that was sold by Levi and later substituted by the denim 😊😊😊 I love this story so much! Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Loved this video!
Thank you kindly Ivy!
Excellent!
Many thanks! 🥰
A great explanation... And interesting...
Thank you!
I love your videos!
Thank you 🥰
Great explanation! Whichever hem I decide to do, it still makes me nervous to cut off the fabric though. Haha!
You can do it! 💪💪💪
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and that convenient chart. Where do you get the thread you use to hem jeans? I can’t find one thick enough with the exception on the one choice at Walmart and Joann fabrics.
Thanks so much! I get most of my jeans thread on Cleaner's Supply and Wawak. Cheers
Thank you for the flow 'shart ' 🤓
😅😅😂😂😂
You are awesome!

Thank you for your inspiration, Pa' lante que vamos ! (Conseguí para día de los Padres una Singer 4452 HD) 👋🤓
Me alegra mucho! Muchas gracias por tan lindo comentario. Saludos 🥰
The person who didn’t like this video knows nothing about sewing, clothes or look. What a pity ‼️😳🙄🤓
Thank you for your words of reassurance!
Thank you for all your informative videos. Are you able to share a price list? I always have a difficult time knowing what to charge
Yes! We will have to share information about it!
💜💜💜
❤❤❤
I think Mr. Strauss still sells jeans to gold diggers, LOL! Just a different kind nowadays.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 This win today's comment! 😂😂😂
🤣😜😘
Thanks for the lesson. I didn’t realize there were all these difference in hems. I also just found out people buy jeans that cost $200 or more. That’s definitely not my budget!
@@rpb638183 It's my pleasure to share! Thanks to alterations, we can definitely work on a budget ;)
100 points for this comment. Very clever thinking .hehe
A request please, can you share (a video) of the types of sewing machines you use? I have several home sewing machines but they don't handle sewing jeans from scratch, or hemming. I'm in the market for a commercial machine and I would like to know what to look for. Thank you.
I'll make a video showing my sewing machine for jeans and what I did to it to make it very strong!
You might want to look for an older machine with metal gears (1970s or earlier). They are made like tanks and can sew anything, jeans to leather. Singer and Kenmore are good brands.
@@daxxydog5777 Yes they were great. I had one for years inherited from a family member. It was a tank I loved it but getting parts was difficult.
En français c'est bien aussi.
I really like your site and your tips.
Please I need help in finding threads to match the customers jeans. Would you kindly share the suppliers with me. Thank you in advance. God bless.
MM
Thanks 😊 I get my jeans thread on Wawak/Cleaner's Supply. They carry two kind. Jeans thread and Gutenberg top stitch. Cheers 😊
