I like the long videos with the 3 together. This was PERFECT. My pants are always 2 inches too short. Now I can buy anything and not worry!! That line in the hem always got me. This solution was excellent!! and I liked the snippet at the end where you added the extra material in a different material. Waiting for that one!!

I like the longer format better and I love all the variations you have for solving problems. It's very real-life, especially if the sewing isn't as perfect as we would like. You're very calm and reassuring voice makes us understand that it's clothing, we're not building a heart monitor here 😀

That fringe is perfect for the off white pants! Love it! I have no preference between the long or short videos. I like them both! But maybe it would be easier to go back later and find a particular technique if it is the only one in the video? You would see it on the video thumbnail.

Mostly I use the first method for my pants. I'm 1,86m and even the pants in long sizes are too short. 🙄
Your videos are such an inspiration! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You just notice the experience from dealing with a wide variety of problems from the many different customers on a daily basis! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
So thank you for sharing your experiences and for showing your skills! 💖
There are often remarkable tricks and tips that you have developed over the years. That makes it so much easier for us! Especially because it is something quite different, whether you sew a completely new garment or if you change an already finished one and make it fit perfectly.
I even think that it is by far the greater challenge, because as an alteration tailor anyway, but also as a hobby tailor, you have not sewn your purchased clothing yourself. You have to think your way into it every time.
Luckily my mother in law is a really goog trained seamstress and has already taught me many things over the last years and still does 🥰
I think I'll never become such a perfect tailor like she is. But I hope, that it'll be good enough for me and my familiy 👍🏻

I'd like to get some personal advice and ideas on this particular project if you would please; I mistakenly got some flared raw hem light wash Old Navy jeans that are ONLY 23" LONG, OBVIOUSLY WAY TOO SHORT and I like the raw hem so wonder if I should just cut off a lower part and just add and thick band of ??? Groovy patterned material down low and then put the hem back at the bottom?

It will remove a crease pretty well on double knit. It will also set a good hem on double knit and to my usage, it has not smelled like vinegar. I always keep a spray bottle as well as a spray bottle of water.

@@DowntownTailoring thank you for this reply. I do it so automatically I don't even think of it as a hint to keep our machines cleaned and oiled. It is the most important thing about sewing. I taught my daughter this from an early age.
I do embroidery for a family-owned shop in our town I also have 2 home embroidery machines I purchased for my daughter to have something she was able to do at home.
Our machines will give us fewer problems if we keep them in good running order. I have a Singer 20U at home I would love to have Juki but as long as my Singer works good I am ok.
I sew patches on Letterman Jackets for the shop, here in Southern Ohio, that is how I ended up at the shop. The previous owner could not find anyone to sew letters and yr numbers on jackets and when the new owner took over I went in to ask if she wanted me to continue to sew them.( I sew at home and help my daughter sew for the Farmers Market.)
The new owner asked if I could run a 15 needle embroidery machine and I told her it had been more than 20 years since I had done that and I was retired. She asked if I could help her out until she could find someone. Wellllll that was 2 years ago I am still there. There is no stress I embroider when we have things to embroider I work until I am tired then I come home and the owner and two other ladies that work there are like family.
I taught the owner to sew when we were closed down for the pandemic. I took in 3 of my machines and taught my co-workers to sew masks, I taught them to chain sew them, we each had our part and it went so quickly, my son-in-law did all our cutting and at first we donated over 2 thousand to area nursing homes and first responders, then people wanted to buy them, we made over 7 thousand masks. and it helped to pay our expenses at the shop and kept our store going until we were permitted to open for business again.
I love your channel you are so real and you are the best instructor I have ever watched.

@@DowntownTailoring I normally use alcohol dyes, applied with a syringe. And just like the colors used to create pictures on stamps, which all stamps only use the same 3 colors in different combinations, those same 3 colors can be used for cloth. I have a pair of Old Navy cargo pants that I love but they are too short. tall size was only 32". I need to add another 2+ inches, but after I picked out the hem, I had very little to work with. plus the hem wasn't even. ragged edges (twill fabric or some drapey type of fabric. they call it a drapey twill. 60% cotton - 40% rayon. I looked for bias tape that would give me the length I needed but so far haven't found a match. it's kind of a beige-y, light tan, off-white color. I did find a remnant that is polyester and very close to the color, but not quite sure how to go about it using fabric. so do I need to cut a strip and make my own bias tape of sorts.? They are a wide leg pant. I find it so frustrating that more talls aren't offered. 32" inseam is NOT tall. I need a minimum of 34" (I'm 5'10), preferable 35" inseam. Can you help? The listings don't always give you the inseam. they just say 'tall'.

I like the longer vids with the 3 together. But, there’s no reason why you couldn’t release them both ways, is there? Its good to watch the entire vid first, then sometime down the track when you need lengthen some pants, you can say how did she do that fringe one 🤔 and just look for the thumbnail with the fringe. Win,win! 👍🏼

I would like short vids with how to lengthen when you need more length but want it to appear intentional or disappear altogether.
