The engineer who DESIGNED where this was put & how should be FIRED ! After getting on my knees OUTSIDE the car, I decided it best for me to push passenger seat as far back and seat back as low as possible, THEN throw my legs OVER the seat with head in floor board, what a joke !
@Yzb. CutMe Orses seriously! No cabin air filter under the cowl to replace, parts stores say "no parts for your selected vehicle", and the few online videos for the 2010 say there isn't one. It's an absolute joke. Is it simply in the same spot as this 2012? Also, how did you get around the "no parts" issue from parts stores? I'm worried I'm gonna pull out the old and not find a replacement for a new one
Good Lord!!! I agree with others that the placement for the cabin filter is poorly placed. I used to change my cabin filter myself all the while I had my 2003 Mercury Sable. Bought a 2012 Ford Focus SEL recently and checked out this video to see where filter was located in my "new/used car" ....Like hard homework, I don't wanna do it , but willing to at least give it a try. Sounds like I'll need to do some stretching exercises beforehand LOL
Pro Tip: to put the cover back on, just lay with your back on the floor and legs out the passenger side. Make sure you have enough stamina, flexibility, and patience before starting this project. At one point, I contemplated just laying there and hoping someone found me to help me get out of the awkward position I found myself in.
You forgot to mention that there is a T20 screw that needs to be removed from the bottom of the cover. Not a big deal but if one doesn't have this size driver to hand the job can quickly grind to a halt. Suspect the screw has been removed from your demo vehicle at some point.
Thank you for in forming us. This vehicle most likely had a change at the dealer in the past because we have noticed that the mechanics tend to not put that screw back in the housing.
If theres supposed to be a screw my 2016 focus didn't come with one. It looks like a slot for a screw but no screw. And I'm the only one that's checked it
Absolutely agree! This could have been designed better. Just like where the plug is for the auxiliary. I mean seriously? IN the glovebox??? I just replaced my filter and it was not fun. 😤
I just changed mine, it was a PITA. Thanks for the tip to squeeze and twist otherwise I'd be struggling for the next 30 minutes. I literally had to get my face in there to even get the cover back on.

And thanks to all manufacturers for making everything BLACK back in the shadows.

Yes, Ford and Nissan both have this poor install process.
@@filterheads i own both a ford and nissan. I find the ford more difficult but that might just be because the ford is a smaller car.

It always helps to push the passenger seat as far back as possible and having a flashlight with this installation.

Been there man lol!
Great advice! This is exactly how we do it.

If you had your car inspected by a mechanic they could of removed the screw and not replaced it after looking at your filter.
@@ILikeDonuts666 Maybe they stopped installing it in newer models? It's not really necessary.
MINE didn't have it, probably left out by dealer when it was replaced MANY years ago, we just replaced @ 100798 miles
Great vid. Straight to the point, no jibber jabber about this that or the other.
Thank you!
Will itmakethe blower throw air stronger?
Could they have made this any more difficult to change? lol
Excellent video, thanks!
There are are harder installations but the Ford engineers could of done a better job.
You're welcome!

Andrew Harris omg I never thought about the whine! I was wondering why it started. Thanks for the info.
Yes. Look at the 07 Mazda 3 which is also ford designed. You need to remove the whole fuze panel to access the filter.

Glad it helped! Ford definitely needs to have their engineers step up their game.
Excellent video. If you hadn't demonstrated how to reinstall the filter I would have never been able to figure it out
Thank you!
It will.make your heater work awesome again
Thank you for watching!
Definitely DO NOT do this after your car has been on... burned my finger on something hot down there, whoops.
Yes definitely let your car rest before you do any maintenance to it.
Thanks for the video. Never could get that plastic piece back on right. Ford sucks; and I'll never be buying another one.
The housing doors are not the best design. Nissan's have the same issue.
Thankyou.
You're welcome

I had to unclip the 2 harness it was being a bitch
The first few times it can be tricky to remove.
